Wow, now that's a line-up.
Anybody in North Carolina want to go in on a delux mobile home and live like rockstars for this event?

So, the great news is that I have a media ticket to this show.
But, I may be traveling alone and looking for people to share a ride and campsite and/or hotel room.
Anyone already have camping privileges for the park?
I'm traveling from middle Tennessee.
post-show withdrawl has me considering attending this...if you are there on sunday check out kid beyond--human beat box. this guy opened for/performed w/imogean heap this year. outstanding! (his beat box stuff is rad, but he sings some of his own compositions which i didn't dig as much).
hmm. saturday and sunday....mmj, band of horses, explosions in the sky and new pornographers...
Jacketcamp?
I tried to reserve a campsite independent of tickets and got put on the waiting list. I'm thinking about the Everglades now.
If anyone wants to go communal on accommodations, please PM me.
I want to go to late night STS9 Thursday and Spearhead Saturday. Looking for a designated driver for Saturday.
yeah too bad the camping is offsite here and looks pretty hard to access in some cases--anyone had success with camping--whats the closest? im with you ms y--post show has sent me searching for plane tickets...
Okay, let's start making some calls on what everybody thinks they're going to play.
I personally think they might play One Big Holiday and MAYBE Mahgeetah.
(Please do War Begun)
Quote--post show has sent me searching for plane tickets...
;D
maybe those of us who can't attend can pool some dough and rent a
film copy of
okonokos to screen. pretty rad.
:-/
ok. we can add some inflatable alligators and egrets. but NO mosquitos. none.
fort building will be encouraged.
I didn't camp last year, but it seemed like the kids were able to walk from camp to the fest without any major difficulties. For this year, I think they're allowing campers to enter and exit whenever they want to.
I'll by staying with some friends who live close by again...ticketed for Franti 8-) and New Monsoon and seriously leaning toward the Mofro show since they added the Stanton Moore Trio :)
Oh...cheap airfare: check out spirit airlines. They fly into Fort Lauderdale and are usually very reasonable priced. :)
See you there!
sweet re-con! thanks nova! [smiley=beer.gif]
Traveling alone (as of now) from Middle Tennessee by car, leaving Wednesday and returning Monday.
I'm on the Markham Park waiting list for one campsite. It's only $30 per night, and I imagine they allow more than one small tent per site.
According to the people at the park, more sites will be released back to them from the festival in early-to-mid February.

The Langerado website says it may provide shuttle service to the late night shows, but if not, I am looking to share a ride to the Spearhead show Saturday night.
(Does anyone know where a full schedule is posted? Anywhere?)
Looking for possible fellow travelers.
You're welcome Ms. Yvon! :)
From yesterday's announcement:
Artist additions:
Galactic
The Spam Allstars
Also, the announcement that was sent yesterday included a note that they would be providing shuttles to and from the late shows. :)

Camping Tickets nearly sold out - 3-day passes increase to $135 on Tuesday February 5th
We are at the very end of our allotment of camping tickets for the 2007 Langerado Music Festival. If you are planning on camping you should purchase tickets today as there are less than 100 spots left. There are very few RV camping spots left in the Langerado campgrounds. Campers will be allowed re-entry to and from their campsites to the festival grounds. We are planning on nite time activities to make your stay at Markham more enjoyable throughout the weekend and hope those camping will enjoy themselves responsibly so that Markham Park will allow us to increase our camping capacity in future years. Markham Park has a limited amount of RV spaces available in a separate campground area from the Langerado campgrounds. Please contact Markham Park directly if you are interested in these spots. If you are camping in the Markham Park campgrounds and wish to have re-entry priveledges into the festival grounds, you must still purchase a camping ticket through Langerado.
Spirit Air discount promo code is LANGERADO
Shuttle service will require tickets...http://www.airdepartment.com/langerado.html
Schedule for the regular shows anyone?
The campsites not bought through Langerado will be re-released to the general public (and Langerado patrons).
I am on that waiting list and I will SHARE my campsite with the proper peops.
best,
Anu
Well Folks, I am happy to say I just booked my travel arrangements, got a ticket to the show and I am headed to FUCKING Florida and checking out the show! I can NOT wait!!
OK folks, Im getting myself pumped up for this show. Im traveling down from CT where it is presently 12 degrees so a few days in South Florida are a distant dream right about now. I am generally not much for festivals but with only 15000 tickets, I imagine this will be a more intimate style of festival. I've been to the Gathering of the Vibes here in the NE a few times and that's alway a good time, never too big, just the right size.
Anyway, every time I go to a festival I seem to miss someone I shouldn't have. Anyone here got any advice on less known must see bands on bill?
Excellent news, ctdeadhead!!
As for what not to miss....??? Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings are a lot of fun. She's like a female James Brown. If you're not dancing during that set, something is seriously wrong.
I can't get enough of Michael Franti & Spearhead...just saw Toots over NYE with the Mule, but I'll probably catch some of that...Love the Greyboy Allstars...New Orleans Social Club do the funkiest version of Walkin' to New Orleans that I've ever heard. Will be all over that set.
I picked up the Cat Power CD based on a lot of rave reviews and I just don't get the hype, but I'll probably try to hear a bit of that too.
As it stands the only sets I will try to miss are Panic and Trey. Oh, Apollo Sunshine...just saw them in Brooklyn and honestly, I don't know if I will check them out again. Loud...very loud. Friends of mine who introduced to the MMJ love this band, but I don't quite get it yet.
The rest of the line up I know I like or have heard good things about and will try to hear/see. So much music, so little time :)
4 degrees with the wind chill in DC today...March can not get here soon enough!!
You now have an opportunity to buy a limited amount of Camping Tickets. These tickets will be relased at 5:00 PM EST today, Friday, February 9th, 2007 for Langerado Music Festival general and VIP ticket purchasers.
What kind of sets do they play?
Looks like I have my campsite. Max occupancy is 4. Right now, it's just me.
Anyone have a schedule of the actual shows during the weekend?
See you jacketastic people in 4 weeks!!!
No schedule yet, but they did release the "who's playing on which day" schedule last week. I think the Jacket is Saturday...Michael Franti is also that day :) Saturday's already my favorite memory of the festival :)
The schedule is out!!
http://www.jambase.com/festivals/langerado/
To those who've been to previous Langerados, how much ground does it cover?? I mean, how long of a walk from stage to another?
Y'all got the schedule!
Saturday night I go from Frantilicious to Jacketastic. Yum.
the festival boards:
http://langerado.proboards79.com/
Last year, the two big stages were side by side :) We set up "camp" right between them at near the sound boards. Going from stage to stage consisted of turn to the left, turn to the right.
The tent was the furthest away last year...maybe a five minute stroll. On the way to the tent, there was a smaller stage...maybe 3 minutes from the big stages. Caveat: I have long legs and walk quickly, YMMV. ;)
There's a bit of overlap this year at the big stages, so maybe the set up will be modified (more ground between the 2 stages) to minimize sound bleed.
QuoteTo those who've been to previous Langerados, how much ground does it cover?? I mean, how long of a walk from stage to another?
thanks nova, i'll see you there.
do you know, nova or anyone else who has been before, are there showers there if you camp on the grounds? i can't find the answer to this on the langerado site. thanks!
Sorry, Colleen. I stayed with friends last year, so I'm not sure what the shower situation was...
CTDeadHead...see you there!!! I think I'll be the one passed out from exhaustion after attempting to catch Toubab Krewe >> The Slip >> Soulive >> Yerba Buena >> Greyboy Allstars >> Perpetual Groove >> JJ Grey & Mofro >> Medeski Martin & Wood >> Michael Franti & Spearhead >> My Morning Jacket >> more Franti :)
Dont forget the sunblock and pray for sunny weather [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
DISCO and MMJ playing at the same time?!?!?!? Fuck. What to do?
Disco is by far a better band...I will be there FOR SURE!
Kidding....Disco sucks.
Plus, im not even going...ENJOY SAT NIGHT MY FRIENDS!
Pretty sure the campground has showers.
The campground has its own website linkable from the Langerado website.
I'm not trying to start an argument but I like the Biscuits. I wouldn't even think about seeing them instead of MMJ but I think Jon Gutwillig (sp) is a great great guitar player. Very original.
I have my press pass. I have my campsite. I've written my warmup story.
It's now less than 2 weeks away.
I haven't been to a rock show of any kind since 1-13-07 for the Jacket in Denver.
My anticipation is reaching a certain pitch, if you know what I mean.

Baseball fans going to Langerado:
I just got this message from a NY music promoter.
"I'm also working with Major League Baseball, who's MLB Road Show will be down there....basically they send out pitching and batting cages and have this whole interactive baseball experience for fans. Its soemthing they do at lots of festivals each summer. Anyway, at Langerado they're going to be doing automatic upgrades for fans wearing Florida Marlins gear that swing by the road show...."
Anu-can't wait for your return to read your reviews. If you are looking for something different, try Toubab Krewe, I feel like you will not be dissapointed. :D
Is there swag for the bands being sold or is there just Langerado branded stuff?
one week from today. very excited! those of you that are going, send me a pm. perhaps we could meet up.
Still working on my schedule of which shows to catch.
I've heard that Langerado is easy to get around, even from stage to stage during shows, so I may mix and match some of the double billings. At the 'roo, I rarely saw a whole show because I was always leaving early and arriving late to maximize diversity.
But not the Jacket set, no way; sorry Disco Biscuits.
I'm going to be posting before, during, and after:
blogging on Langerado all week at:

Conscious Alliance Food Drive
Since its inception nearly four years ago, Boulder-based not-for-profit Conscious Alliance has rallied the generosity of music communities throughout the U.S. into an organized effort to help feed America's hungry population. Thus far in their mission, Conscious Alliance has collected and donated over 500,000 lbs. of food to local U.S. food banks and to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, where they have also used monies donated to erect a food storage facility that continues to feed hundred of families each month. In addition, Conscious Alliance has contributed funding for over 120,000 free meals served by Emergency Communities Relief Kitchen in the St. Bernard Parish of New Orleans. www.consciousalliance.org
Conscious Alliance is hosting a food drive to take place during Langerado Music Festival at Markham Park in Sunrise, FL, on March 9-11, to benefit the Daily Bread Food Bank of Miami. Attendees at this event are encouraged to donate $20 or 20 non-perishable food items in exchange for a 2 panel limited edition poster, created by Jamie Huntsman. For more information on the artist and to view his work, please visit www.bittersweetcreations.org.
Shabbat Services with Matisyahu
Matisyahu performs Sunday, March 11th at the festival, but will be joining the onsite campers for Shabbat on both Friday and Saturday. Shabbat, commonly referred to as the Jewish day-of-rest, begins at sundown Friday night, and ends after sundown on Saturday night. Matisyahu and friends will be setting up Shabbat services, meals, and parties throughout the weekend. All activities are open for everyone and anyone. No knowledge of Shabbat is required, and meals will be offered to all who attend. Campers are encouraged to stop by the Matisyahu Shabbat site at anytime throughout the festival simply to hang out, fire up a conversation, or mingle with friends new and old. I hope that lots of people want to check out the Disco Biscuits. The more the merrier. That will keep the scene at the MMJ a little smaller.
Let them have their Biscuits and Disco, too. I'll be eating a feast of My Morning Jacket.
Alright y'all, it's just about time :) My flights not 'til tomorrow afternoon, but works been nuts and promises to be the same tomorrow so I probably won't get a chance to check back here until next week.
Safe travels all...Say hey if ya see me. I'm easy to spot. I'll be the tallest woman there (6'4"), dark hair that may be under a cap or just pulled back. Runnin' with a krewe of 8 or so. Not sure where home base will be this year since the layout has likely changed. Headin' to the Tea Leaf Green/New Monsoon show tomorrow night and Franti's late show on Saturday.
I forgot how much time it takes to pack for a festival.
Packed more than needed as usual; lots of snacks and supplies to hopefully keep the expenses down.
Tea Leaf Green is one of the many bands I want to check out for the first time.
Please do not forget about Toubab Krewe! :)
Wouldn't miss them! Saw them for the first time at MagFest not too long ago. Good stuff! See you there!

Hello from the dirty, sweaty, and funkified south.
Somehow my nap kept me from seeing Stephen Malkmus; the only request from my boss was to check that out.
SSSooooooo so glad that I got up in time to catch a little Trey and ALL of STS9.
The latter blew my lid off completely.

So, they should be playing right about now. I can't wait until a setlist and taping come out.
Okay it should be over. Now we must wait for more info.
Well I got back last night and the whole festival was a blast. It was one of the greatest weekends I've ever had. Lots of great food, beer, weather people etc.
Fri, I overslept and arrived late and missed my flight. I was unable to get into Ft Lauderdale so I had to fly into W Palm, which put me at the festival 3 hours late on Fri. My buddy also had to drive a few extra miles to get me...but no big deal. Finally, I was there. This weekend, I hooked up with several guys I grew up with and all of us hadn't been in a room together for 15 years so it was special. Like Bob Seger said..."See some old friends...GOOD FOR THE SOUL."
We arrived in time to see Galactic, but we were still kind of taking in the atmosphere and moving around but they were great as usual. North Mississippi was also ending but I didn't really get over there. We floated between Bela and moe for a while then caught the beginning of Trey. We then walked over to see STS9 which was my big surprise of the weekend. They were one band I hadn't seen. Im not too much into the techno dance thing, but in a live situation it was really cool. I didn't realize they were an instrumental band, but they were the band I was unfamiliar with that I enjoyed the most. Traffic getting out was a breeze and we headed into Ft Lauderdale and over to Pompano for Drinks and Food.
Sat was here and I was charged all day for MMJ. Bounced around and caught bits of as much as we could. Then it was time for MMJ. The hit the stage right on time at 8 PM. It seemed to me there must have been a lot of people over at Bisco but MMJ definitely had a big crowd on the main stage. We setup a blanket home base in front of the sound board. I left my friends there and moved up toward the stage. I got up in front of Jim about 3-4 people deep from the barrier. The lights went out, and they raised the back drop, which was the woods from the OK movie.
the guys hit the stage, Pat hit the cymbals, and OBH was filling the festival. The boys were rocking their asses off from the first notes. I didn't write down the setlist but the one at the start of the thread is pretty accurate but for the order. Magheeta was played in the main set, and Anytime was closer. Jim didn't speak much they just played hard and blew my mind to bits.
Here's a link to my pictures there are some pretty good ones of mmj. It was a blast, and I think I may make this an annual festival. On a funny note, we made friends with one of the security guys, named Mack. Every couple hours we came back to see him, he was guarding the sound board on the Sunset stage. He was a black gentleman in his sixties or seventies and since he was from Miami, he had a bunch in common with my friend who works down there. There was a squeaky clean port o potty on the soundboard, and Mack gave us full access all weekend. Cant beat the value of a Super Clean Port-O Johnny at an outdoor event at your disposal, it was like heaven...without the wait.

Cool pix thanks for the link.
Take a look at #115. Isn't that the guy who played Albert on Little House on the Prarie?
Hello everyone,
My name is Ian. I'm new to the forum. I figured this would be the best spot to say hello and share my langerado experience and some pictures with you.
Here's a few things to give you some insight into my little corner of the world:
1) I fvcking LOVE my morning jacket.
2) I've seen them twice live. New Orleans-House of Blues-11/15/06 and Langerado-3/10/07.
3) I'm not a weirdo (inasmuch as any of us can be free of that characteristic).
4) I do listen to bands other than mmj (i.e. pink floyd, galactic, talking heads, daft punk), just not as much ; )
5) Oh yeah, I love South Park too.
We left Thursday afternoon at 4pm CST from Oxford, MS. Drove through the night and got to Sunrise, FL around 10am EST, so I guess that's a 17 hour drive. Caught Assembly of Dust and Tea Leaf Green, they were neato, but we were still getting acclimated to our new surroundings. Saw all of galactic and they never disappoint. Bela Fleck and company put on an extremely funky show. I'll be sure to download it once it's up. They played several songs from the new album and I was very impressed. Walked past moe. but they weren't playing "recreational chemistry" so I didn't really stop. Went to see sts9 in the swamp tent. Ate some intense fungus and came to this conclusion: they put on a good show and make decent cd's, but it's not much of a concert. As an electronic musician, I have a hard time distinguishing between what they're actually playing and what they're simply triggering in Ableton Live. As a guitar player, I'm unimpressed by the repetitive guitar riffs (though I really like moon socket). They also tend to bring out the dirtiest of the wookies.
Saturday I had a one track mind. Saw MM&W but I had just seen them at the New Daisy in Memphis the week before. They finished at 7pm and we went to the front to claim some space. I was with 10 of my friends (all of whom made the same drive to be there) and we all ate the same paper we got from these kids at P-groove. THANK YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE!!! Incredible. Just like the show.
We were about 15-20 ft from the stage in the center. Got to hold on to the blow-up doll a good bit. I think she had a crush on me, but I hear she's a slut. Oh well. When the lights weren't invading my brain, this is exactly what I saw:

I look forward to getting to know you all. You're clearly part of the secret club ; )

"The pinnacle of the festival was My Morning Jacket's Saturday evening performance. If you haven't listened to these guys, please do so immediately. If you've already heard them but haven't seen them live, do that as soon as possible as well."
"Frontman Jim James is one of the most energetic performers I have ever seen and can go straight from jumping and head banging around the stage during an intense jam into a melodic slow tune with perfect precision. James' voice is absolutely beautiful and distinct and provides the ideal balance to the dynamic band."
