I've got XM in the car, but I'm new to taping. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Prehaps we could have an ACL tailgate...  ;D

Dark,
Is it just in your head unit or can you take it out of the car?

I think if you have a subscription, you can listen to xm online for free.  They may also offer a 14 day subscription, which might be worth it for the show.  I'll make an attempt, but have no idea how to record from an internet stream.

I'm going to try that. If so, then how do I do the taping?

if this free subscription thing works, i could come up to work and rip the audio from the stream into adobe audition. what time do we think this will go down?

Isn't that a different thing?  The ATT Blueroom vs. XM?  I'm thinking so, but i'm not sure.  Cheer up Meg!

I can do the free stream online, It will be somewhat crappy quality though... an actual unit plugged into a computer would be best.

I just signed up for the free trial, I'll record it if it's on Sunday but it does sound like it's about 64-9kbps audio... I guess beggars can't be choosers and something will be better than nothing.

Can I suggest a listening party as we did last fall? I had a good couple show just sitting in my computer room "at the show" with you guys and gals!

I signed up for a free trial for the New Years show, and I wonder if they will let me do it again?  I doubt it.  But I will try.

Not sure of the time yet... Meg, will you be recording at the studio via the internet stream or do you guys have XM down there? Is that terrestrial blasphemy?

Don't know exactly when...but MMJ come on at 6:30, so it won't be before then.

Why do I hear no ACL on the XM thingy?
Title: Re: ACL and XM Radio Broadcasts
Post by: Elizanne33 on Sep 15, 2007, 09:08 PM
This XM thing is confusing me. I have only been listening here and there through out the day, but haven't heard any ACL performances. I was wondering if anyone knew if they were playing a few songs from ACL mixed in the regular playlist or if they were actually going to play an extended set from the artists? I thought it was starting at noon ET, but so far nada.

if i am able to record this show, it will be from the internet stream, as we don't have xm at work.

MMJ should just release all their shows to their fans for 9.99$ like P. Jam, STS9, Widespread...this way we dont have to run around like mad men because we have the fear of missing anything special from the boys.

is there any way to petition to be able to buy the shows? anyone know anyone on the inside...??? there's an obvious large following that fenes on MMJ live.  they would be able to profit on that too...both finacially and getting more fans to come to more shows; knowing that you could listen to your experience over and over for the rest of your life.  They would have sold so many NYE/Prom shows...

It appears that the shows are being broadcast via the XM radio, but not online.

I won't be able to tape it, but it looks like I'll be having an ACL tailgate tonight!

Hey Dark -

Can you hear the broadcast in your car right now? I just spoke with someone from the xm hotline and she told me the online/car channels broadcast the same thing - the only difference is that the car units have access to sports and news channels, whereas the online stream does not.

If the xmu station in your car is playing acl right now, then she's wrong and you're right. If you can't hear it there yet, I want to keep trying to get to the bottom of this...

thanks!

Yes! Dax Riggs live from ACL is playing on XMU in the car.

So there we have it. They broadcast differently. Unless maybe online plays the same thing behind schedule?

Anyway, I'll keep my ears open tonight. I'll try to catch the setlist and relay it back to you fine folks.

I guess the band is about 22 minutes into their set now... sucks that XM is a piece of shit satellite radio company that can't do anything right... I'm so pissed I can't hear this. ATT blueroom suck balls too.

I've been listening to XM. No MMJ yet, I've already heard Muse, Bloc Party, and am currently listening to the National.

I'd expect them to play MMJ and Wilco sometime tonight, so I'll just have to keet listening.

They're so retarded... they have unlimited channels and could SO play every band live but they suck. I'm a bit bitter.

Sorry you guys had trouble in both the Blue Room and XM.

There was a tropical backdrop and it was a sunny hot day beginning to sunset.

2 guys came on w/ metal detectors like they were combing the beach for buried treasures.

Then the band came on in full beach attire.

Jim sporting a platinum blond wig that went down to his waist. Carl in miami-esque attire, sophisticated beach shirt and brimmed hat. Tommy sporting snorkle, goggles, and floaties, probably flippers too. Bo had zinc sunblock on his nose. Patrick had life guard t-shirt and goggles.

Not much banter, just rocking. Some sound problems, but probably hard to tell to casual fans.

Opened w/ Mahgeetah.

Songs played not in order:

Mahgeetah
Lay Low
Gideon
Wordless Chorus
One Big Holiday
Sooner w/ full band and Jims Omnichord
What a Wonderful Man
Off The Record
Anytime
Beautiful Phone Went West

Maybe missing one...

Closed w/ Anytime

Bob Dylan was pretty awesome. I was a little taken aback at first w/ how rough his voice was, but it got better as he went along.

Bed time.

I guess the beach theme means they are going to be on "vacation" for a little while. :) :'(
