They'll be there according to this site.

any news is good news. even if it's a show 7 months away! ;D
i hope this is true.
Road trip :).
It would be nice to have jacketfest coincide with the show.
I haven't had a 4 day drunk in a long time.
To be continued ......
Be a great place to show off the new album!
QuoteBe a great place to show off the new album!
agreed!!!
so i was talking to the vice president of AC entertainment(the folks who put on bonnaroo), and he was letting me guess at what bands were gonna be there, and when i said mmj, he said no, because they wanted to be a headliner. he was giving me the run around a lot, so hopefully he's just full of shit.
I wish they would bring back the puppeteers, my jaw was dropped the entire show.
Anybody know why any of the past few years 'Roo dvd's wavn't been put out? :-?

Did he mention Pearl Jam? Jeff Ament reportedly told a college class in Montana that PJ was going to play Bonnaroo next year.

I've heard rumors about Pearl Jam playing for three years straight it's about time it actually happened.
I'm fairly certain the jacket will be there. My predictions (...and hopes)
Pearl Jam
MMJ
Peter Bjorn and John
Daft Punk
Ryan Adams and The Cardnials (It'd be about fucking time)
Jack Johnson
Band of Horses
...I'll think of more later. ;)

after the 3.5 hour epic set they gave to bonnaroo 2 years ago they deserve to be a headliner...
but they will have to put out an album pre-Bonnaroo to be even considered as a headliner (i would think).

What a freakin' list! Please do not get me this excited for something 7 months away. It hurts.

Daft Punk will not be at this upcoming Bonnaroo. I would not be surprised one bit if all of the other acts you mentioned are performing.
I cant believe that I am saying this, but I truly think Led Zepplin will be the main headliner at this years Bonnaroo. I think they are going to play their show in England in a few weeks, from there they will set a huge world tour. Why not?
sorry...Led Zep is too big for Bonaroo. If they headline, everyone would go just for them. They could sell out a 60,000 person venue by themselves. This is the same reason U2 never headlines fest...they're just too fucking big. Biggest Band in the world for that matter.
It seems though Roo has been in the tradition to having one "classic rock", one "alt rock" and one "jam band" headline. Tool, Police, WSP
this year PJ, Dave and Freinds and Metellica - something along those lines. But once Coachella give MMJ a chance to headline, maybe the Roo will warm up to the idea.

well looks like it might very well be happening. history in the making, you best believe im gonna be there. if zeppelin and jacket play im going to die with happiness!
No Metallica at Bonnaroo.
http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=86054
Led Zeppelin, My Morning Jacket, most likely The Hold Steady, Band of Horses, annd Wilco!!
I would die if I couldn't go. seriously. :)

Good.
My thought exactly.
I wouldn't mind seeing Metallica at Bonnaroo. Tool last year was one of the best sets of the weekend, if for nothing else because of the faces of all the people that didn't know what to expect. I defintiely would not be upset to see a Metallica set.
And Led Zeppelin might not be too bad either ;)
if metallica played at bonnaroo itd pretty much be the exact scenario as that south park episode where cartman scares the hippies away by blasting metal. which, quite frankly, would be awesome and hilarious.

I was having the same thought!

That's what makes me nervous. I think they might be. We'll see what happens with this show next Monday, but I'm unconvinced that these guys can go out there and get it done. And they look AWFUL on the cover of the new Rolling Stone.
Here's my hope for the headliners:
Neil Young (To fulfill the "classic rock," also to kick everyone's ass)
Pearl Jam (to fulfill the "alt-rock")
Trey Anastasio (back from rehab, to fulfill the jamband)
sub-headliners:
Jay-Z (because Bonnaroo needs a big-name rap act!!!)
Arcade Fire
My Morning Jacket
Bob Dylan
moe.
Ryan Adams
How about "The Boss"!
Okkervil River
Oakley Hall
Antony and the Johnsons

i am so glad metallica won't be there, it would just not make sense. i can understand how Tool was there, the're kinda trippy and all.
My (day)dream:
Led Zeppelin
Bruce Springsteen
Radiohead
Pearl Jam
Wilco
MMJ
Sonic Youth
Daft Punk

Sadly, the latest Zep-at-Bonnaroo-news...
Too bad, I was considering flying out had they confirmed a spot. Still might...
Just surfed in, looking for Bonnaroo info.
I was apalled MMJ didn't play last year, really hoping they can make it happen in 2008. That late night show 2 years ago was un-believable. Legendary.
I bet LZ will really play 2008, despite what Superfly says. LZ will have a large North American tour, I'm betting, and Bonnaroo will only be 1 stop.
Hearing rumors that Plant & Krause are scheduled for Roo 08.
QuoteQuote
Neil Young (To fulfill the "classic rock," also to kick everyone's ass)
He definitely did that at the 03 Roo.Best performance by him I had seen/heard in some time.
BTW,Neil is on fire with the Chrome Dreams II tour.
Apperantly MMJ was put on Pollsar as playing Friday, the 13 at roo, but it was taken down.
how about prince as the headliner?
If you look at how great Langerado is with REM and such, I expect the 'roo lineup to be incredible. Just incredible.
I'm going to Roo for the first time this year, and I really want MMJ to be there. I can't fucking wait!

It's good for me, It'll protect me he-he-he.
Well, I'm going with an RV full of people, so I'll think we'll have to bring buy it in bulk.
Everybody seems to be putting in their 2 cents about who they want at Bonnaroo, so here's mine:
My Morning Jacket (of course)
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
Radiohead
Trey Anastasio (hopefully, he could do Oysterhead again if Les and Stewart ain't busy)
Neil Young
Phil Lesh & Friends/Bob Weir & Ratdog/anything Dead related
Gov't Mule/The Allman Brothers Band/anything with Warren Haynes or Derek Trucks
Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals
Pearl Jam (who knows maybe they'll be there this year)
Widespread Panic
Gillian Welch and David Rawlings
Kings Of Leon
Ziggy Marley
Wilco
The Flaming Lips
Hot Tuna
Keller Williams
And if Led Zepppelin ain't there, but Robert Plant is with Alison Krauss, that's cool. At least maybe there will be some Zep or Zep-related material involved. Maybe he'll bring The Strange Sensation and/or Krauss will bring Union Station. I saw Plant opening for The Who in 2002, right after John Entwistle died, and he practically stole the show, he even came out and did an encore. And I never saw an opening act get an encore, EVER!
Of course, that was until I saw MMJ opening for Pearl Jam, Memorial Day Weekend, 2006. The closed their set with Anytime, but the reaction was so great that they came back out and did Magheetah.
Since then, I've been absolutely hooked on MMJ. So they'd better be at Bonnaroo this year.

Third.
There's no way you could fit all of those acts into one Bonnaroo, though. Not even half.
maybe i'm getting old but i think i'm too the point where i've seen everyone and looking for something more....the sonic youth/stephen malkmus bonnaroo shows rocked. wilco always rocks. no bright eyes this year? def looking forward to ryan adams, i love the new A&C cover down in a hole.
If they trade off the jacket for Metallica i might go postal on the farm.
The Radio City Jacket show does not conflict with the Roo. I predict the band gets the Which stage Saturday midnight slot that the Lips had last year.

If that happened I might actually think about going this year.
Just more rumors? I heard that R.E.M. is definitely not playing so..
BONNAROO | The RUMORED Headliners + More Confirmations
As of now, everything is just rumors or speculations. Here's what I hear. The three big headliners this year will be Pearl Jam, R.E.M. and The Kinks!!! If that's true, it's the festival of the year.
Other acts I hear are confirmed are: My Morning Jacket, Moe., Beth Orton, Kate Nash, Ani DiFrance, Willie Nelson, B.B. King, Black Crowes, Alison Krauss and Robert Plantand don't be surprised if Jimmy Page is spotted around......................

You can change Pearl Jam from rumor to definite. The mods over at the PJ message board have posted to say that they're going to be making an announcement late Tuesday night. They mention a mockingbird (state bird of Tennessee) and coffee (Coffee County) in their post.
If Pearl Jam finally does play that would be awesome........way to spot out those clues dude!!!!...............also please anyone who is going to Bonnaroo take to heart the bring shade advice.........that place it the most dusty hot fucking place in Tennessee.......also after the long drive there dont start pounding beer, not a good idea.........
russian circles is going to play
My Morning Jacket confirmed.

Main stage will be Pearl Jam, Metallica, and a Jam Band.
Jacket will be Midnight on the Which Stage Saturday night in the same slot as the Lips last year, at least that is my prediction.
Sigur Ros will be late night, and it will be amazing.
Hey Dave Crosby, yes, it was very dusty last year, but I've been to Bonnaroo 4 years now and that was the first time I experienced that. '05 was a wet muddy mess!!
Well I'll go this year, only if MMJ play a four hour set for us during Metallica ensuring I don't expose my ears to them for a second...
Metallica? Really? :-?

I hope that Metallica plays infront of about 7 kids! I hate to be so disrespectful of a band that USED to rock so hard...but come the fuck on! They have been terrible for years now! Its a damn shame that Superfly has tried so hard to be different that it has to stoop to bring such shit to Bonnaroo!

ok, so, i think i'm going. a buddy just called and he wanted to see the jacket more than i did. so now i have to go to get my fanhood back. plus he said he would drive.
questions...how long do you think they'll play for? another long epic set? or an hour set like at lolla? anything i should know about getting tickets? i've never been, so bare with me...more questions to come...thanks in advance...
More questions from the unaware. How late into Sunday does it usually go?
Over the weekend I tried to book a hotel room on hotels.com, No such luck within 20-30 miles, My wife is not very big on camping. Folks must book their rooms a year in advance for the show. I will keep tryin.

It's pretty much done inside centeroo after the headliner ends and a lot of people leave...but there arwe always parties going on somewhere in the campround all night.

well, Walter, that's a long haul but i'd say its definately worth it (i'm guessing...the longest i've driven is an hour plus 3-8 in line).
We won't really know how long they'll play until the schedule comes out. If it's late night (please, oh please!) it will be long. If there's someone playing after them it will be one set w/o encore.
I'm hoping for the boys to close sunday night. Another 2-3 hour set into the night only this time on the main stage!

My guess is they will be sub headliner, probably before PJ. If so...about 1 1/2 hours. I doubt they will be late night again. If they put them on at the same time as Sigur Ros my head will explode.
Check out the Lars Ulrich interview at bonnaroo.com...I guess I feel a little better about them coming after watching it. I probably won't go see them and I'll be disappointed if they headline a night...but I can accept their attendance.
Could've done without the continuous Napster bitching, though...let it go Lars.

at least jason newsted got out when he did! (btw, that band voivod is insane)
There's also an animated video by Bill Plymt entitled "What is Bonnaroo" featuring our very own MMJ's Run Thru at the climax.
Well, I won't be going to Bonnaroo, it'd be kind a haul for me. I do think that the line-up looks pretty solid though, and if I lived anywhere East of the Mississippi I'd be there.
Yes, Lars is a major ass hole, and Metallica's output has slowed and album quality declined over the past decade plus. To many, they'll be a let-down and outsiders at a festival like Bonnaroo, but they are still ripping live performers, and if you care to join them for their set, they'll rock your fucking face off.

I hate that I might miss out on hearing some damn good music, trust me there will be plenty. I really just feel that the price that you have to pay and for them to throw out Metallica as a headliner is kinda a smack in the face. I mean really who gives a FUCK ABOUT METALLICA. Metallica doesnt even give a fuck about Metallica.

Metallica really cares about $$$$$Metallica$$$$$$
Ya know what? I don't like Metallica or Kanye West either, but I'm still going to Bonnaroo, because I'd like to experience the whole festival thing at least once in my life. Besides, if by the time that Metallica or Kanye are on and nobody else that I'd like to see is, I can just take a power nap.
If you don't like it don't listen. It's the same argument that you use with idiot conservatives who try to censor TV, Movies, and Music. If you don't like it, change the channel, or don't watch the movie, or change the radio station, or don't buy the record. It's that simple. No, instead your gonna make a huge fuss over the fact that it's there, just so you can get attention.
