.....just started watching the show.....wow SNL still sucks, its going to go hard to watch but I will to see MMJ.....
indeed. I used to use a shia leboof for my stretch mark. Highly suspicious and evil urges.
I'm Amazed.......kicked ass!!!!!!!!!!!!..........loved the ending......
tornado warnings south of Nashville, so we're getting fulll weather coverage and no SNL :'( :'( :'(
maybe the 2nd song

I'm amazed that this is happening to you. Happy so share my taped version if necessary - probaly allready on youtube.
As awesome as that was, they rearranged it quite a bit. The "real" version is even better.
I figured they would play that one, it's the next one that's iffy. Highly Suspicious is awesome but it's not typical MMJ. So, maybe that's why they play it anyway. I won't be surprised if they go back to "Golden".
Ya'll hold er' down Tracy.
Anything but "Thank You Too"
QuoteAnything but "Thank You Too"
Great song.
so many commercials
second song also good.....I wonder what people thought who have never heard of them before and saw that.....
Wow, did they look and sound awesome. It seems like they are purposefully holding back tempo and noise level with Im Amazed. It is still one of my faves. Evil Urges was perfect... And the posing at the end of the songs... How theatrical...Lots of effort into this release. Its gonna be big...
Incredible

Great song.
Ummm.... yeah whatever. I can't stand it; I've never been able to say that about a Jacket song before.
ANYWAYS, "Evil Urges" was beautiful. Was hoping for "Aluminum Park," but I am not disappointed. Can't wait for June 20! I'll be there with bells on.

That's crazy, I think its one of the top 3 or so on the album!

He/She must have the decoy. ;)
Really?! Well, I honestly don't know what to say. Different strokes, I guess.
My top three on the album (in no particular order):
1. Aluminum Park
2. I'm Amazed
3. Evil Urges
Disclaimer: This list could change over time.
Looks like the other thread is backed up so might as well use this one. Loved the performances, loved how they stood still at the end. Two good choices for songs, I'm glad they stayed away from Highly Suspicious. Did anyone else have technical problems? During commercial break the screen went black and they cut to Evil Urges too late, just barely missing the beginning part of the song.

True, but the first time I listened to It Still Moves, after loving T Fire and At Dawn, I hated it. Now, it has a prominent place in my all-time albums list. That's all I'm saying.

I don't know why you would say that, since every song I mentioned has been played live.

The smiley with a wink denotes a playful humorous tone. :P [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]
I guess sarcasm does not translate well via text. I forgot to include my smiley... 8-)
P.S. The Decemberists are on ACL right now for those of us who are still up... it's not bad.
I'm can't believe I forgot to watch that!!!!! I'm sure it'll be on youtube....
I thought it was 'okay'...
SNL sucks so bad, that it may have hampered my ability to enjoy the performances, though.
That was only like the 3rd time I've heard Evil Urges, and I was a little disappointed. "I'm Amazed" was awesome though, can't wait for the new album. To be honest I would have liked to see them perform one new song and one older song, but oh well, it was awesome seeing them on SNL, even tho that show hasn't made me laugh in forever.
If anyone finds video or audio of the broadcast on SNL, plz post. I'd imagine it'll be up on the main MMJ site soon anyway.
anybody capture this?
Botched? Never.
I've seen both of those guys improvise parts of songs due to broken strings. Amazing to me.
Jim and Carl were a little sloppy soloing-wise on "I'm Amazed", but that's live rock and roll for you - they went for it and didn't quite nail their solos. But they made up for the odd sloppiness with added crunch and energy.
I don't think these videos will show up on youtube, and they don't seem to be on the snl site either (at least not that i can find). If anyone has a link...

dude, you're kidding yourself. ;D
watch it closely, you'll see what i'm referring to pretty easily.
after a few seconds of soloing he jumps back up away from the mic stand towards his amp into his somewhat signature little step move (which is awesome btw) and then proceeds to miss a few notes before he botches a hammer on slide (to anyone w/ even a decent ear for music, the notes were way out of key, it's actually pretty obvious)
nothing to do with "improvising" (trust me, i've played guitar for almost 20 years now, i know the difference between bum notes and improvising ;)). hell, Carl himself would likely own up to it. not ripping on him at all, just was an observation, still a great performance.

I'm not an idiot, I promise.

It's not YouTube, but it's downloadable.
Awesome. Thanks! :)
Quoteanyone notice Carl botched the first bit of the solo to I'm Amazed because of his rock star move? ;D
i thought i heard something odd at the top, but chalked it up to the evening's wine intake. ;D
boy howdy, they looked sharp! jackets! a tie! tuxedo shirt! bo's rad hat! SHARP! 8-)
loved the STRINGS (!) for evil u. and the lights! thought the mix at the top of i'm amazed was a little off, but noticed on both songs the bass was really clean. bo was playing the "response" bit during what is usually the guitar exchange. is that the first time they've done that or have i just never noticed it before?
also: patrick got his mothers' day greeting on the air! nicely done!
i whooped out loud a couple times. ;D was watching the show with one of my oldest friends. she's incredibly indulgent, but not terribly moved by rock music. even though she'd gotten up at the crack o' dawn to send her husband and kids on a camping trip, she stayed up watching some questionable sketch comedy with me until the "good-bye" at the end of the broadcast. thanks, eli! [smiley=beer.gif]
Calling the skits "questionable" is the closest thing to complimentary I've heard in about four years. I'm not kidding.
:D

I threw these same videos up on youtube for those that wouldn't stumble upon the link in this thread. I'm sure NBC will take it down fairly quickly but it's worth a try:
Evil Urges - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrY-dlUsGdw
I'm Amazed - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvoV8FvWIGY
Thanks for the links! I was so pissed in Nashville when i came home from the bar early just to catch the performance and all we got was "severe weather alerts" for over an hour straight! It was barely storming...pitiful. Didn't get to see either of the songs.
Thanks for the links. There were tornado warning in NW Alabama as well, so my DVR had an hour and a half or news coverage.

Luckily, I was in Georgia and was able to catch it. You aren't the only Alabamian who missed it, believe me. :'(
OK, I've had some time to soak in these performances (about twelve times) and I'm Amazed is just spectacular. I also loved the still poses at the end. (I guess, what the Madonna did also really helped.)
I'm still not sold on Evil Urges as a song but the performance was, again, great.
No Highly Suspicious, (doh!) so I guess I owe someone a sandwich. ;)

Ice cream sandwich, please.
