Just bought a ticket for the St James's Church show 22nd May. Nothing mentioned on the show pages...
Good to know, thanks!
St. James church. How sweet is that! I think that answers sooo many questions. ;)
WWJJD?
This is listed on the front page now! Plus guests!!!! I wonder what ol' Jimbo is doing over in London in the middle of May......
Live at Abbey Road maybe? Can some of you from the big island do a little digging and find out. I can't imagine Jim would make a trip over for just one show unless something else was going on.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this show works out as Jim cancelled the same venue a couple of years ago and I can't make the MMJ show in July.
It's an awesome venue though, right in the heart of little old London town.
Saw Josh Ritter play at the same venue solo acoustic and it was ridiculously amazing -tight and intimate, know what I mean?

josh ritter is great.
Any reviews?

Although The Bear will always be the highlight of any show for me (and last night's rendition by Jim, solo, was awesome) Gideon, with Jim & Carl together, soared majestically up into and around the ecclesiastical ceiling to produce a truelly religious experience.
The highlight of a long to be remembered evening.
Pleased you had a good time Loper, very jealous! :)
I totally relate to your story Loper. It is a religious experience indeed!

Touch Me I'm Going To Scream (Part 2).
Holy crap. I don't know why, but I was surprised to see this on the setlist. I really hope a recording of this show surfaces.
I managed to grab a setlist after the show and someone asked me to put it on here, so here we go...
Tonight I want to Celebrate
Sec Walkin
Golden
Look at You
Librarian
It Beats 4 U
Bermuda Hwy
What a Wonderful Man (particularly brilliant version)
The Bear
I Will Be There
Old Sept Blues
I'm Amazed
Thank You Too
Smokin From Shootin
Gideon (he sung some sort of religious prayer thanking God before going into this)
Touch Me Part. 2
Anytime
The venue, bang in the centre of London, was absolutely stunning - an active church that clearly has rarely, if ever, been used for a 'rock' concert before - originally built by Christopher Wren sometime during the 1600s and half-destroyed during WW2. The lighting was amazing and it gradually got darker during the concert as afternoon turned to dusk.
Setlist had a couple of great surprises - Old Sept Blues and The Bear were both brilliant. I Will Be There When You Die was slightly more sped up than on record. Had been hoping for a couple more from At Dawn/It Still Moves but hard to complain when we got 3 in a row from Tennesse Fire...and i guess this was a bit of a preview for Evil Urges.
Quite surprised how well the Evil Urges tracks translated into a more stripped down setting - but i'm still not sure how well they measure up overall, compared to a fair bit of older material.
Enjoyed reading that, thanks for posting Aeyzjwc :)

We can only hope someone recorded it - it was absolutely stunning! It was actually being filmed. They had one camera at the back near the sound mixing (I think no one was using it so it must've been used for a static wide shot) and a second one operated near the front - either with a tripod or handheld. I didn't see him for the past 30-35 minutes so I'm not sure if he was only allowed to film so much.
I didn't recognise the very first song...but it was heavily leaned towards Evil Urges and Z material. Would've been nice to have At Dawn/It Still Moves represented more - Golden and Bermuda Highway. That said, the trio of TTF tracks was immense.

That first song is on Ch. 2: Learning. Not sure if its an original or not. I know I've asked about it before but I don't remember whether it is or not. Regardless, its a great song!

Ah thought it might be - I've got both volumes but haven't listened to them in a while. I think the only releases I haven't got are the TTF/At Dawn demos and a couple of EPs.
As already mentioned, the show was amazing! I'm a new convert to MMJ (after Jim James' better-than-the-original "Going To Acapulco" cover and hearing Evil Urges!) and was absolutely blown away by him, the setting and the whole show. Great stuff.
Hopefully a recording will surface.
Hey guys, i've put up some of the photos i took at the show plus a video of Jim performing The Bear here:

Couple of shots of the church, and its garden, then mostly of the show.
Enjoy...
Excellent pics, thanks 4 sharing :)
ahh! sounds lovely!
thanks for the setlist and pix!
Thanks for the review and the pictures...
My pleasure...glad people are able to see them...
Well done with the review and i felt like i was there..
I have seen them, (Carl and Jim) in California at the Palace of fine arts and then again in Berlkey Greek and heard thank you for the first time when I met Vespa Chick, ( shout out girl)
Yes the solos are like a peak into Jim as he closes his eyes, dresses for the occasion and shares the love in the voice as it floats out there.
I am into old stuff today after flying home to San Diego from Colorado for a family reunion...
Just a love dawg holding out until the EU release date I remain strong and true... :-*
It was a great night with a perfect set list.
Jim likened the inside of the church to the inside of a blood vessel (something to do with the stain glass windows). He kept mentioning what an awesome place it was to play.
The Bear was worth the ticket price alone..
Can't make the London show in July so this made up for it...
