Phil Lesh & My Morning Jacket Late Night Sets!
by Bonnaroo

The Phil Lesh & Friends and My Morning Jacket performances will be special late night shows on the Which Stage! Following the tradition of historic past performances from artists such as The Flaming Lips, Primus, and Trey Anastasio, these epic performances
They set the bar awfully high in 2006. This set will be on a main stage. I can see the guys coming up with some fantastic antics for this show!
It kills me that I cant go this year! :-/ :'(
My only hope is that this show is on Friday night, so that I can get a good spot while Metallica plays the main stage.
This is going to be amazing!
YEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
SWEET JESUS!!
i just got a little shiver.
yes!!! this is what i wanted!! i just feel so much better now.
never stop dreaming people...never stop dreaming...
haha, i forgot to add that actually made this throaty growling YES! when I got this email. I think my downstairs neighbor thinks I'm nuts...
Better get there early, I waited 4 hours 2 years ago to get front row.
i've been going back and forth about making the trip from NJ BUT this may have just sealed the deal for me. i live for the late night shows!!!! WOOO HOOOOO!
CREAM DREAM! :o
the only way i won't be on the upfront for that show is if PJ is headlining the same night. Even then I might head to Jacket early and catch Eddie there later.
oh sweet optimism :D
Generally, I am not always spot-on with my predictions, but I so called this!!! YES!!!
;D nicely done!
QuoteBetter get there early, I waited 4 hours 2 years ago to get front row.
dude, this makes me miss you! [smiley=beer.gif]
I think they will play after PJ's set. I just hope they don't play at the same time as Sigur Ros. That would suck. Hard.
does anyone have an educated guess as to who will be playing sunday night? my friend and i wanna know if we should leave early sunday so we can be back at work on monday--i don't wanna skip out if it's phil lesh & F or MMJ...when is the lineup posted??? if it's PJ, i wouldn't mind leaving.

Phil & MMJ are Which stage late nights and will most likely be on Friday and Saturday. I think Jack Johnson will be playing Sunday night. Don't take my word for it but that's my educated guess.
thanks--i'll see JJ in august so i don't mind beating the rush and heading for the airport sooner.

sucks for anyone who misses the PJ set. have you ever seen PJ live?
out of ALL the bands i've seen and/or yet to see, and despite having been to plenty MMJ shows by now, the pinnacle show for me is seeing them do the late night set at 'roo. won't be this year, but one year, oh yes.

yes my very first concert in high school--i was a diehard for their first few albums-- i also liked the 'into the wild' soundtrack --but for some reason, they sound really dated to me other than a few songs on ten whereas groups like nirvana and pavement will always sound fresh. not really interested in seeing them but i'm sure they put on a great show.

fair enough. i would still recommend you give them another shot though since you are going to be at bonnaroo anyway. it's quite the experience, and despite your opinion of their rescent studio work, the music translates extremely well through the live performance.
well hopefully i can get monday off from work so it won't be an issue anyway:-)!! my best friend is flying in from san diego-it all depends on her schedule as well. i wouldn't mind seeing a little even flow and once live again.

well then, this may be the first year I leave before Sunday night
edit: i.e. after dark Sunday

on the other hand, i'm sure they'll bring up some pretty good guests up w/them, too--tough call
i wouldn't put money on it...
unless, of course, Eddie V sticks around all weekend.
Eddie and JJ are good buds.
QuoteEddie and JJ are good buds.
yeah...that's one thing that would make it better.
I wasn't trying to knock on Jack, but he just doesn't seem to fit as the climactic act to conclude the roo.
I think it'll be:
JJ Friday
Metallica Sat
Pearl Jam Sunday
so pretty much MMJ are headlining the Roo. SWEET.
Jacket will be Saturday as Lips were last year. We are so skipping the mainstage act and having a campout in front of the stage.
Listening to the funky new material live is making me sick with anticipation.

awesome article thanks for posting.
headliners are going to look like this
thurs - kanye west
fri - metallica
sat - pearl jam
sun - widespread panic
i hope this late night set is friday night. i'm not missing any of the pearl jam set and will be disappointed if i can't get a descent spot for mmj. i want to see metallica too, but wouldn't mind leaving that one early.

I have the sneaking suspicion that it will be PJ and MMJ in succession on saturday...that's unfortunate.
it would be strange if Kanye headlined Thurs because they usually don't have a headliner or any major acts playing that night. It's kind of like a warmup to the festival.
Where are you getting that Kanye is playing Thursday night?
Friday is definitely Mettallica>MMJ latenight. Pearl Jam is Saturday night.
i would aslo be surprised if Kanye was thursday night, i don't see that happening.
according to phillesh.net, he will be playing in Chicago on the 13th(Friday) and then playing the midnight show on saturday night. I guess we know that that means...
maybe i'm wrong about kanye. i've never been to bonnaroo but i know for a fact pj is saturday and widespread is sunday. from that i figured metallica for friday leaving thursday for kanye. didn't know they did more than one headliner for a night.

I would die for that! I've been trying to figure out what I'll do if it's PJ and MMJ on saturday. I'd definitely get close for Jacket one way or another, even if it means missing a chunk of Pearl Jam

they normally don't put a huge act on thursday, right? i remember a couple years ago seeing STS9---maybe sigur ros this year? i think it was les claypool and that really annoying singer he toured with one year in 05'? no way kanye is playing thurs...

RACHEL YAMAGATA and that stuff blew. Electric Eel Shock was the best thursday show I've ever seen.

I am sooooooo glad to have been wrong about a few things. So, we skip Metallica for the MMJ campout by Which Stage. No need to skip Pearl Jam.
Deep breath.

i'm hearing rumors ben harper is playing in the VIP tent thurs night--
Quotei'm hearing rumors ben harper is playing in the VIP tent thurs night--
That'd be pretty awesome. I was wondering, when exactly does the VIP party go on? I know it's thursday, but is it late night? It sounds awesome, with the free beer and the band playing just for the vip peeps (esp if it's ben), but if there is another band I'd rather see outside of vip when that goes on, that would suck.

just a heads up to anyone going...who is also a PJ fan
Harrybu McCage includes Matt Cameron
Being the only act not hailing from New Orleans to grace the "Somethin' Else New Orleans" stage is not lost on Harrybu McCage drummer and Seattleite Matt Cameron, who knows a thing or two about playing in a musically competitive city.
"It's an absolute honor to be playing on the same stage with such amazing musicians who are the best of what they do. New Orleans musicians have always been held to higher standards," said the Pearl Jam drummer. "It's where the beat comes from."
Harrybu McCage is the jazz project Cameron formed with keyboardist Ryan Burns and bassist Geoff Harper (Herbie Hancock, Bill Frisell). The trio will perform original and Thelonious Monk inspired jazz all the while doing the roots of traditional New Orleans music proud.

you can wander in and out of the VIP area---so if you don't like the band playing in the VIP tent you can go check out the band playing elsewhere....i think in 06 it was rebirth brass band playing in VIP (could be wrong) and then i remember walking over and seeing STS9--i think in 05 les claypool played the first night

I may just have to take one of my favorite jackets and simply paint the word "morning" on it.
For the record I am going to be upset if they don't cover a quick one while he's away, vedder is going to be there.
Anyone know if they will be on Blue Room for us less then fortunate enough to go? If someone has already said yes, I missed it. Blue Room doesn't have their schedule up that I could find either.
If they are, who's in for a listening party like 2 years ago
Im making a MMJ Flag. It's the California Flag with the bear on it (Im coming all the way from S.F.) But rather than saying "Californina", it's going to say My Morning Jacket. And rather than the star in the upper right, it's going to have the bonnaroo symbol.
Look for us! We'll be front in center!
We should have a Jacket fan site meeting spot so we can all rock out together and share different kinds of happy medications with each other.
Then after the show - run to Tiesto and watch him until they kick him off.

Whoever gets there first can turn other people away by saying (in the voice of John Candy in the Wally World Vacation movie) "Sorry, folks..." and that the front section is for members only. And only the people who give their Forum user names (and their guests) are welcome to stand there.

very excited about mmj on back to back fridays. roo --> rcmh

NERD ALERT! :D
I'll be up front for MMJ for sure. Might top the 2006 Bonnaroo.
I'm going to be waiting for MMJ during Chris Rock, still get to hear him and Metallica, don't really care if I see Rock since it's just stand up and a visual usually isn't necessary. Metallica will be nice to listen to but I'm not a huge fan or anything and I'd rather just sit and wait for MMJ. I've been a fan since At Dawn and saw them at 05, 06 Bonnaroo up close... Can't allow myself to be far back and not get the view I want.

according to the schedule on Bonnaroo.com Kanye West has been moved to the main stage late night Saturday 2:45AM-4:15AM.

Kanye West Late Night Performance!
by Bonnaroo
6/9/2008 4:14:24 PM
We are excited to announce that Kanye West will now be performing a late night show on the Main Stage on Saturday, June 14th instead of the previously announced time! This scheduling change is being made to allow Kanye to fully present his critically acclaimed "Glow In The Dark" show.
This show marks the first time that anyone has played a late night set on the Main Stage, and it promises to be one of the festival's many highlights.
We have also shifted a few other artists, so make sure to check the schedule for updates!

sure! absolutely! i'm going to be tailgating at the stage from about 9:45ish on. let me know when and where--also let me know if any of you are staying in guest camping...
As I work in The Academy in Planet Roo, I will be staying in Guest Camping. I look forward to meeting Penny Lane and seeing Yvon again and of course meeting all of you.
I want to get to Which Stage right after Willie Nelson and stake out Camp Jacket. I'd love it if we could somehow protect some prime real estate for the people on this board!!
I am trying to decide on my outfit: "swank stripes" or "green n wild man"?
By the way, I am bringing the Peanut Butter Pudding Surprise and some Jacket related reading material and maybe by then we can invent some party games based on Jacket songs.
The hours of waiting will pass quickly. I would nap except I expect to be too damn excited.
sounds good. maybe i'll get there at 9:30 now. i'm gonna PM you cuz i have a ton of questions about guest camping
I will be there right after MIA... I definitely want to meet up with all the biggest fans. Nothing better than being surrounded by hard-cores at a show. You can identify me because I will be wearing that black shirt that I posted that is one page back.
I am psyched about meeting some other fans and enjoying this show with them.

i was just going to head to the flag around 9:30---is that the plan?
Quotei was just going to head to the flag around 9:30---is that the plan?
What flag?
QuoteIm making a MMJ Flag.
Then after the show - run to Tiesto and watch him until they kick him off.
this flag i guess? unless you've got a better idea.
The peanut butter pudding surprise is finished and in the freezer.
Right now I am leaning toward the stripes.
On most of your 'puters, my avatar is me from about 2 years ago.
This will be the second anniversary of my first Jacket show at 'roo 06.
yes!!!

Do any of ya'll wanna meet up before the MMJ show? I'm not good at picking faces out of a crowd, unfortunately.
so are we meeting up? the flag? what's up?
All I know is I'm gonna stay for Metallica for only one or two songs, then me and some buddies are headed to MMJ. We'll try to muscle out way to the front row, but I'm 5'5 so I'm sort of depending on slipping through the ranks unnoticed, haha!
i am going to do the same, hopefully see the flag somewhere or Anu or someone from this board. i'll have a black halter dress on---i fly out tonight after class! i'll see ya'll there!! the weather report changed today--supposed to only rain at night now...do i hear a wet jacket racket or what??
leaving in 40mins. getting ready for a 16hour drive. hopefully we'll see some of you by the flag. everyone have a safe trip there.
The flag is finished! It looks so sick. I want to give it to the band...and hopefully they will fly it at all their California shows.
Im flying into Tenn tonight and making my way to camp thurs morning. Whats the weather like?
I also have our flag flying at our camp. Come find us and we can share happy things :o
I CAN NOT FUCKIN' WAIT! SEE ALL YOU CLOWNS IN A COUPLE DAYS! :D
I'm late to the party but is roo getting webcast this year?
I'm leaving tomorrow at 4 AM. I hope all of you have a safe voyage to Manchester. God speed!
QuoteI'm late to the party but is roo getting webcast this year?
i haven't heard anything about a webcast but i read on punknews that fuse was going to be broadcasting MMJ's performance ;D. here's the link for it:

I'm at camp in Guest Camping, within a sightline of the Which Stage.
The main gates open very soon.
Somehow, in the last minute frenzy, I managed to leave the Peanut Butter Pudding Surprise in my freezer at home.
If the wireless continues to work, I will try to post a report Saturday morning.
i checked that fuse thingie out and it appears that they will be broadcasting from bonnaroo. BUT they are only doing 3 nights of coverage and it's called "best of bonnaroo" so i don't think we're gonna get the full show. I hope i'm wrong, i hope there's gonna be an audio broadcast somewhere, but fuse is cockblocking us. Dammit, if they just went a covered those crappy emo bands like they normally do, we would be getting some BLUE ROOM goodness like a coupla years ago.
I now HATE fuse. >:(
Day two of roo (our day three) is beautiful so far, but the rain is coming our way. I hope it doesn't dampen our dance tonight.
The custom roo Jacket swag includes 2 different t-shirts and a poster.
Link to thread I started for the poster:

sounds pretty cool to me. it starts tonight at 9 right? fuse is that satellite channel right? i got that. the website says they're going to show MMJ so it's not a total cockblock and it's bonnaroo - it'll still be cool

What does MMJ have against the Blue Room? Or vice versa? :-/
I would bet it's Sony way more than MMJ
Are any of the lucky jokers gonna check in from ground zero before the weekend is over? I'd love the juicy details.
Apparently, the MMJ set on FUSE is the 2nd of 3 parts. I believe tomorrow @ 9pm is Metallica & Racounteurs(both on blueroom today). PT. 2 is sunday @ 9pm as well. '
They are running all 3 parts consecutively on Sunday @ 8pm.
this is totally off topic probably but I'm watching the bonnaroo webcast and super surprised by metallica. I dissed them hard in a different thread but now I definitely see how they fit into the picture that is bonnaroo. hope everyone's having a great night and those at bonnaroo are having a blast. wish I could be there right now getting down.
Did anyone see the set on fuse or on the webcast? I missed it was it any good? What songs did they play?
They played I'm Amazed and One Big Holiday.....very nice, especially at 4:30 in the morning before I went to work.
EDIT: Wasn't a set, two songs and a short interview.
