I'll be headin' up from DC too and just found out about a new bus service (with wi-fi): Boltbus. Fares as low as $1 each way. I'm already booked for the June trip for a whopping $2.50. Even if my plans change, losing $2.50 won't be all that painful. ;)

there is a heartland brewery right across the street that is always busy but the only realistic pre-show hang. for post show, i'd go somewhere in the LES that is never packed, maybe Julep?

kyjed and i saw REM in cincinnati during the monster tour in '95 and they totally kicked ass. i would happily go see them again if we could afford it. when we watched them, we ended up being the only people in the section directly to the left of the stage about 9 rows back. we were sitting there getting ready to watch grant lee buffalo (who totally kicked ass too) and an usher walked up to us and told us to go ahead to the front row because we were the only people who had tix in that section. when REM came out, we got a very special treat from mr. stipe. he noticed we were the only people sitting there, came and sat down at the stairs right in front of us and sang a verse of "strange currencies" to us. it was very very, one could even say uber, cool.

i didn't know there was one up in that area, too--there's one down by the empire state bld and one in union square---they have great summer ales!! tons of cool beers for girls--i love going there in the summer. best food is their onion rings and mini cheese burgers...mmmmmmm--i am definitely in even though i don't know any of you and you'll probably shun me.

I vaguely remember that the last train to get to Morristown (north Jersey) was around 1 am.....but they have the train and bus schedule on this site. I used to catch the train at Penn Station. But I know there are ferrys and buses too. It might depend on where you are headed.

I started dating someone and shes really into MMJ (I just found out yesterday) and it would be really awesome if I could get tickets without over paying some money hungry ebayer double the cost. So if you know of anyone that has two tickets and cant make it for some reason I would really appreciate any help. turns out that while the heartland near rcmh has some "side rooms" they do NOT offer room reservations.

another heartland close by offers them but one has to pay for catering. meh. :P

so!

to keep it loose and light, and not give anyone "reservation anxiety" i propose that anyone who wants to meet up with some forum peeps before the show, just come on down to the heartland brewery near RCMH.

it's sure to be hopping on show night, so give yourself plenty of time to get bar service and relax (?) before the show.

as the date gets closer we can discuss which color carnation we'll all be wearing so that we're identifiable in a crowd. ;)

the place closes at 11p, so post-show drinks seem unlikely.

i think any of the big three--just not islip...la guardia you can shuttle it into the city on an express bus (10$ or so) JFK tram to the subway i think; and newark's the farthest out ---if you're staying in midtown, la guardia or JFK woudl be fine i think..i use la guardia all the time, it's okay

everyone at work left about 20 minutes ago so i was jamming to the Palace Theatre show from 11.23.05. Dondante came on and I was dancing around my office pretending that I was at RCMH already. Then my boss called me and I could hardly talk because I was so out of breath. He said "thanks for turning down the music"

Coming from Germany. I am in NY from June 19th to 26th to see MMJ and PJ (MSG 24th and 25th).
Saw MMJ in Italy open for PJ and loved them!
I got Z and Okonokos after these concerts and will buy me Evil urges in NY.

Saturday night, in case any one is still in town, there's a great band --Bonerama-- playing at Sullivan Hall (214 Sullivan St.)...

The band is electric guitar, drums, sousaphone (tuba), and 4 or 5 trombones. They rock.

Another option, for fans of good beer or whiskey is a bar called DBA. It's no where close to Radio City, but if you're hanging out on Friday or Saturday afternoon, this is a great spot. And they let you order in food. :)

I think the Dinosaur BBQ is in Harlem? But they most definitely have good food!

Yea, but its only about 2 blocks from the subway stop, and we'll be coming into the city at Penn Station, quite easy to just hop on the subway right there and walk a block or two.

Thanks murph, sounds cool. I got a suggestion for Playwrights, but after looking at their site that doesnt seem to be what me and GivenToFly are looking for. That place looks a little too nice lol. We're looking for no frills, beer, whiskey, and a good jukebox.

that's down by MSG, right? i've been there before a few shows, the place is huge but pricey and a little swankier than i like---but it's good meetup area before MSG shows. it's just you have to hop in a cab or on the subway to get to the RCMH from there (unless there's another Stout in NYC--i can't access the link at work) i would try somewhere closer unless you're fanatical about having 50 beers on tap before a show ;-)

Where's the after-party/ all Night Long/Funk and Soul/ Dance 'Till the Sun Comes up/ Post-ecstatic revelry going down?

Anyone have a copy of this weeks village voice and find anything that will help ease the post-show blues?

Coming Down is always the hardest part, and going anywhere with mediocre music after this show is just gonna be disheartening.

GivenToFly and I are leaving now; gonna drive to Trenton from Philly and take the train in. Tickets went on sale nearly 5 months ago and its finally here...and just when I think I cant get any more excited Jim goes and hides the V under his cap on Conan...I only slept 3 hours last night and Im wired lol. Safe travels everyone, Im sure there will be lots to talk about tomorrow!

for any of you interested, there will be a group of us headed to sullivan hall downtown after this show.

jacob fred jazz odyssey (JFJO) is playing an after-show midnight set.

should be a great way to unwind from jim spinning us all into a hectic frenzy.

Best dive bar in the vicinity of Radio City (you don't have many choices, midtown is a bit drab): JIMMY'S CORNER 140 West 44th St (between 6th Ave and Broadway).
Boxing memorabilia all over the place, and it has a great soul jukebox. About a 5 minute walk to Radio City.

That looks like a pretty tight bar. I think I'll be hitting it up after the show. Thanks for the suggestion.
