Title: POSTER SCALPING
Post by: EgoTesticle on Jun 21, 2008, 08:20 AM
I have seen a new low ....

Nice to see so-called "fans" buying multiple copies of a limited run event poster to scalp on Ebay.

I stood next to a couple of these fucktards in line at the merchandise booth who were giggling about doubling the price for the posters and selling them online.

If you are going to do a limited run of only 280 freakin' posters for a show at Radio City Music Hall next time, try limiting the posters to ONE per person.

And to the people who are going to scalp the posters they bought?

You are douchenozzles.

Thank God, as I was standing in line one of the guys behind me mentioned there were only 280 printed ...

So, I bolted for the merch booth and saw what looked like a 9 inch pile of posters, so I said "Oh, there are alot more than 280 printed, I'll wait!" Especially, because drinking frosty cocktails and dancing all night in the dark is not conducive to the safety and well-being of posters.

Then as I stood there I watched those posters disappear faster than a cheerleader's virginity on prom night ...

... I literally got one of the last 3

The woman said to me, "Yep, when they are numbered like this they go fast."

#197 will be framed and hung this week!

...I really wanted to get one of those posters, I went right to the merch booth when I got in before the show started and they were gone.....they should have only let people by one a piece.....I was surprised that they only printed such a small amount too.....can someone post a picture of it because I haven't even seen the thing.....

Wow ....

The posters lasted at least a half hour .....

...... If you are urinating for over 30 minutes you may want to consult a urologist

I am ceratin i walked in to the show at 7:30 and there was a huge stack still b/c i was surprised they were not sold out yet.

I am sure they went fast after that point but i think some of you are exaggerating how fast they went.

If you showed up when doors opened there was no problem getting them from what i saw.

Sorry to hear people did not get them.

Why are you mad if you had an opportunity to buy it but chose not to?
Title: Re: POSTER SCALPING
Post by: TFowl on Jun 22, 2008, 01:38 AM
because it's pretty ridiculous that someone else bought it to make 110+ off a fan of a band who is foolish with their money...  and i'm a true fan who would enjoy the poster...  I just don't see spending $30 on a poster... but now after seeing that realize, fuck if I didn't want it I would have no trouble getting rid of it anyway.  that's why...

$30 for paper is stupid, $130 is asinine.   The price will probably top $200 by that rate too.

for those interested in my peeing habits:

7:30 walk in venue
7:31 take friends to our seats so one can see venue for the first time and we can see how awesome our view is.
7:38 walk out, look at merch line and say, let me pee first
7:40 (love the hand dryers in the big lounge downstairs)
7:45 come back up and posters are gone.

I emailed guy burell today to tell him how awesome I thought they were and he seem surprised to find out that they were selling more than one to a customer.

Man 12 $ beers and 30 $ posters.....in SF on NYE they gave us our posters FREE at the end of the show....Almost glad I sold my tix to RCMH. I've read SO many complaints so far about this show. This to me is really discouraging considering this is a forum for people who are supposed to like the  :-/band
ps 130$ for a poster....do yourself a favor and go to Wolfgangs Vault online and save some $$$$$$$ ;) ;) ;)

Um .... I wonder why the same t-shirts I saw at the show were $30 ... And online they are only $22?

With all due respect?

Nowadays if fans are asked to drop almost a hundred dollars a pop just for the ticket ... Not to mention then getting screwed like a farm girl passed out behind the barn after the square dance ....

... The least you could freakin' do is cut us some slack on the merchandise.

I already find $30 shirts to be one the most royal assrapings of all time.

I personally dont understand the complaints...

Theyve got 5 albums worth of songs and cant play em all(though i wish they could)

Why would you want covers if instead theyre playing more of their own stuff?

Played for three hours, and DEFINITELY didnt suck...in fact they rocked harder than anyone ive ever seen...and the sound was amazing!

Just my 2 cents..i think somehow people set the mmj bar a notch higher than being the best live band on the planet... ;)

beer wasnt 12 bucks, i paid 9 for a watery jack and coke...so how could beer be more? the worst of all the poster happenings is that people just ASSUMED that you could get more than one and went to the show with the mindset of buying more than one to sell it on ebay...what kind of fan is that? when i go to a show the last thing on my mind is screwing over fellow fans...

"SO many complaints"? People will always bitch, thats what people do. If fast-selling posters and some people talking in the mezzanine are enough of a reason to sell your tickets to arguably the biggest show in the career of the band then I feel bad for you.

You can't blow your nose in this town for less than a C-Note! LOL

Trust me ... If my wife had any idea what I spend on the concerts that she loves going to see so much, she'd realize if we stopped going ...

I didn't think I was going to be in town the night of the show at RCMH, so I didn't get a ticket when they went on sale ....

... So, I had to Ebay it

Which I unfortuntaely accept as the nature of the beast .....

It's not like paying that extra $8 got me a "happy ending" with purchase .......

WELL

if you buy a 22 shirt on the site..they charge u over 9 buck for shipping which comes to 31 somethin...so in retrospect its a deal to get a shirt at the show :D

i found that out the hard way by memorizing theshirts on the site before the show so id know which were new etc and they were the same, so i went to order one today and BAM 9 dollar shipping

8 dollar bud lights can still eat my ass tho haha

Also this poster really didn't sell out that quickly. I got number 78 at around 7:40. Good luck t everyone still trying to get them for a reasonable price.

Um .... Midwesterner?

The poster's weren't sold in numerical order.

If you got a poster at 7:40?

You were VERY VERY lucky.

Because they were gone before 7:45
