as of right now it is still billed as "an evening with", which means there is no opening act.

I thought for sure they would have one other fairly big name to help sell tickets.  Is there anyway to find out how many tickets have sold to this so far?

i thought the original rumor (before the show was even announced) was Yo La Tengo & M. Ward opening.  that would pretty much be a dream come true.

If you try to buy 2 tix right now I think the best available are in the 300's if that is any indication.

I could be on board for this.   I also wouldn't mind if the Drive-By Truckers came by and gave us about an hour of ROCK.  A guy can dream.

All MMJ... an opening act will simply be a waste of time

QuoteAll MMJ... an opening act will simply be a waste of time

I fully agree...an opening act will just take time away from the boys. I also think if there was going to be an opening act they would have announced it already.

They haven't had an opener since when? Red Rocks? Why would they have an opener on New Years?

I'm a little bit conflicted since I really enjoyed The Slip in 06 and, if it wasn't for openers, I might never have heard MMJ or Yo La Tengo (w/ The Flaming Lips, best combination ever). Then again, hearing those extra few songs this time around was really great. And I've hated most of the openers I've seen. So, I don't know. . .

i definitely think there will be some guests.  I DEFINITELY DEFINITELY think its a show none of us can ever properly prepare for- our minds will be blasted.  I'm going through withdrawal- trying to wait patiently for NYE while holding on to the memory of Philly but it's getting difficult now

It'll be okay- It's all going to be allllllllllll right!  If you can't come to NYE don't worry- you'll experience another Jacket show that will exceed all expectations (both of my shows have) and your heart will fill so much that your chest will barely be able to contain it.  Your mind will always drift to that wonderful night and you will feel like a better person for watching them rock.  Worry not!

Anyone remember what time they started and ended at the Fillmore in 06.   I seem to remember going to bed around 430 here on the east coast but I dont think it was quite over.  There were two opening acts at that show, and I notice the MSG tix say 9pm.  I was hoping they would start a little later, say 10-1030?

I feel like the Fillmore show got over at about 1:00-1:30 A.M. PST, I missed the opening acts, I think I saw the last song of the opener.  I'd say they came on stage around 10:30ish....give or take.  My memory may be a bit shoddy  ;)

Hello All! Long-time lurker here, first time poster.

I just wanted to put this opening act question to bed. I found out from an inside source that there will absolutely NOT be an opener for MSG. Jacket are scheduled to play a 4-hour set from 9pm - 1am. This is truly going to be EPIC. The lighting and stage set up is going to be massive. I've heard a couple rumors of special things that are going to happen, but I don't want to ruin the surprise. Suffice it to say that Jim's entrance will be legendary.

Any MMJ fan worth his (or her) salt needs to be at this show!

Look forward to talking to you all. Glad I finally had a good reason to post.
