Anyone else going through Jacket-show withdrawals?
I don't know what to do with myself.
Anyone want to go to Australia?
;D take us with you!!!
I was doing my daily "what if I hit the lottery" thing yesterday and all I could think of was that I would be going to Australia this month.
The only thing I can wish for to help with the withdraw is an EP. I would love some new songs to listen to. This might help until they come around again. With that said, my jacketitis can never be cured. :D

We need to come up with a get-rich-quick scheme and make this happen.

I'm actually glad i'll be taking a little Jacket break. with NYE, Radio City and the summer shows its been a great year but i'd love to see Jim do the M ward folk album and tour on that...its be a nice little change and then maybe the next MMJ album after that.
i watched Okonokos today, I am now depressed. How much is a plane ticket to Australia?!?
A lot. I have a friend who will be there for a wedding during the MMJ shows, but the one in Perth is the day of the wedding he's in. Oops.
Well roundtrip from Louisville to Melborne runs about $2,250
It seems like toyko is the bigger bargain at $1,308 round-trip----SAKI, SUDS and Jacket-it-is---WOO-HOOOOOOO
$1,123 roundtrip to Tokyo on United, with one stop. Well, you'd want the stop anyway, that's a long flight.
*thinking*
*selling plasma*
I'm watching Okonokos now. I am excited beyond words. 14 days til Brisbane...
Jump on a plane and come down. Its only money! You know ya wanna!!
So close now.
i guess we all start focusing on summer festivals to get us out of our post-NYE slump--the thought of not seeing them again for probably at LEAST a year (although i bet JJ will tour w/Monsters of Folk) is really depressing;
We need to form a support group.
I'm focusing on SXSW, JazzFest and Bonnaroo...with a couple of shows here and there thrown in for good measure. :)
I may start following Blitzen Trapper to ease the pain.
I really hope there's a Monsters of Folk tour this year. Missed that one last time around.
I just got back from NYC and watched I'm Not There to keep the flow going. Quick movie review, it sucks except for Jim and Calexio.
I have seen them at the Boston Pops, Langerado, Lollapalooza, Radio City, Miami Beach and MSG. I was planning on Coachella and Bonnaroo this year, but I don't camp (too old @ 47) :'(
So I guess I have to plan for the inevitable European Tour that they have to make up. :D
If I had some advance notice I may have done Australia with Neil Young.

Don't make me come over there. I don't camp. Ever. I camped at Bonnaroo and I'm close to your age!
Ohhhhh, a rescheduled European tour sounds
s'wonderful.

i agree--that is why they invented VIP camping ;-)!!

Actually, I looked into VIP packages and the final cost was greater than going to NYC twice and Miami Beach combined. The extracurricular activity in those cities are a little better than Tennessee.
Plus my 25 year old girl friend is much less camp-worthy. As much as she is a fan (now, I had to convert her), I couldn't see her lasting through the night and through the rain, since she crashed and burned at Langerado and Lollapalooza.
And even though she made it through NYE in flying spirits, at 4am she called it quits at the Amanda Palmer show at the Bowery Ballroom (one she wanted go to).
My hope is a show in either London, Paris, or Amsterdam. One day, maybe Bonnaroo (w/o the girlfriend probably).
Now what? Definitely looking forward to summer festivals. And pre-summer I guess. Considering Coachella because of a friend in CA even though I doubt MMJ will be there.
I can't wait for the next concert and a Monsters of Folk tour would probably be the end of me. I've been listening to the one show from '04 at least once a day (Minneapolis) and the songs are like a beacon. They HAVE to go on tour again.
Look forward to meeting more forum folks, too.

The monsters of folk tour was indeed awesome. Ticket prices would be a lot higher this time around though. I went to the Philly show at the Troc and paid $10 for my ticket!

If I go this year, I'm not buying tickets until the week before and getting a deal on Craigslist. I've been let down by the lineups for the past two years and had someone decide to get married on the day the Jacket was playing last year, so I couldn't make it.
I still hold out hopes, but I hope it returns to a folksier or jam-based format this year.
MMJ at 'roo '06 is one of the best moments of my life.
I was under the impression they weren't doing roo this year due to James' side project.
I'm not sure who/what this is but (from the homepage):
