perhaps the monsters of folk didn't allow pics and vids because they knew conor would pull something like this? :-?
but I would've loved to see conor knock that piano over. so monsterly. hope there's a video. did anyone see this?

Damn....I left early so I missed this highly original act of "rock n roll"!!
"He then allowed his piano to fall off the side of the stage as the gig ended."
Huh?
it's set up on a small riser. i'm guessing it was just 'pushed' or 'fell' off the riser.
this is so emo.
He definitely pushed it.
Towards the end of the first set he poured cider over Will & his drums & then kicked parts of the kit over (Will was trouser-less when he came back on) Conor later threw a half-can of cider into the crowd & pushed the piano over after His Masters Voice.
antics

Maybe will just likes having cider poured on him while playing. Sounds just like what conor did in ATL. ;)

Conor put water or beer on the drums in NYC too. I think Conor gets a little wasted at these shows- not so much at the one I saw but when he opened for Wilco this summer he was drinking up a storm. Kinda slurred when he was talking.
Honestly- how do you think its a good idea to end the beauty of His Masters Voice with pushing a piano over?
Im not a fan of Conor, and this incident further helps my argument. He thinks he's a rock n roll animal and is trying to be all cool. Meanwhile hes being an idiot. Who does that? I bet Yim is getting upset...just watched american dad.....yim is classy (as we all know) :D. conor is a wanna be rock star...maybe he is a rock star for hipsters...but true rockers shit on him
merely seeking the attention that Jim's shadow is keeping him from...
you guys are nuts. conor rocks.

:-* ;)

is emo boy conor a meth head or a heroin addict? I can't decide.
whatever tickles your fancy :-*

i agree he does rock and can the man live while he's young...jeezz
im all about breaking shit and effing things up, but there's a time and a place, no?
is he going to break his grandma's fine china after thanksgiving dinner?
doing this after an MoF show, and especially after His Masters Voice, just strikes me as odd and out of place
I'm gonna have to agree with CC on this one.
Well I'm sure they would smash guitars at a Monsters of Rock show but this is the Monsters of Folk. It's all part of the hilarious irony. Come on.
If it was such a rock n roll moment why did no one who reviewed the show here even mention it? Even the ones who seem to like him didn't mention him "letting the piano fall over". I've tried my hardest not to talk smack about Conor on the boards but this sounds pretty weak.
While I like some of his work (temezcal is my favorite track on the album), most of it seems, like another peep said, pretentious and fake. Even in concert, he didn't move me and his whole "strumming the same chords really, really hard makes me seem like I'm really feeling it" doesn't work for me. Maybe he is really feeling it, but I'm not. Just my two cents.
I don't think pushing the piano over won him any more fans. The friend I took to the show who didn't know any of his music before now refuses to listen to him at all! It wasn't a great idea but for me it didn't detract from the evening and it was still a really great show.

hahaha, I picture him pushing it over really girly. kind of a "hey is that dude trying to push that piano off the riser? pause... yep, guess so, man that was weird".
pouring cider on drums? what a waste of a perfectly fine drums set.
if I were him and really wanted to be all "rock n roll" about shit about breaking stuff I'd have to think back to the past of what has been done. the who for example, they didn't just push over a piano, they destroyed their instruments like animals. If that piano had to die, the least conor could have done was kill it like a real man, a savage. beat it with a guitar or will's cider drums. fuck, conor can't even get up on a drum riser dressed as a member of KISS. total amateur.
Even Hendrix looked silly destroying his instruments...

He's almost 30 isn't he? Thought he might be done with that crap by now.

30 is the new 20..dontcha know
awesome. wish i was there to see all of that.
couldn't agree more sticky icky - if you get a hankering to break shit: DO IT UP! not some half-assed 'maybe he meant it, buuuut maybe it was a drunken accident' thing.
speaking of which... @ the nyc show he came damn close to tripping over some equipment after jumping down off the drum kit backwards. i'm pretty sure that if he hadn't caught himself he would've ended up falling off the stage as well.
gotta say tho - the cider drums looked kinda cool, blue man group esque w/ the lighting & all...
