Sometimes I wished I lived in Louisville :D
Will be there!!
A perfect date for me and my wifey..
Listened to some Bootsie sounds like she could really assist on some Tennessee Fire stuff ;D
i can't find a floor plan. anyone know what the standing/seating set up is?
standing floor, seated balcony?

Someone said in the other thread that the seats are in the middle and standing is on the side. Hope to see you there, Yvon. You know I'll be there!
why do some people need a holiday to express their love for each other through teddy bears, balloons and roses? aww i hate valentines day, but the show sounds great.
Quotewhy do some people need a holiday to express their love for each other through teddy bears, balloons and roses? aww i hate valentines day, but the show sounds great.
Because most people don't think of doing something nice for one another unless a specific day calls for that sort of behavior... aw now you got me all upset!

My problem with V-Day has always been that you should be treating your partner with that much love and attention everyday!

Do you guys need a hug?
I do...I think it's sold out. :-/
I tried to get tickets at 10:00 today and no tickets available. I would love two tickets.
I got to ear xtacy a little before 10, they were already selling tickets. In fact, they told me I got the last two seats. They still had standing at that point, but my bet is they're gone.
Went to EarX-Tacy at 9:50 and got 5 GA Seats. Cash only! Good Luck fellow babies.
Well, that is a bunch of suck for those of us who aren't local and were told it was going on sale at 10.
Oh well.
I agree.
EarX-Tacy had tickets already printed (150 total). They were just being kind and letting us coldjackets in.
I'm sorry, I sound bitter. :P I'm happy for all you guys who got in, you're going to have a blast!
damn. at 10am i got thru, but by the time i selected seated or standing, all tix were in process, so it looked sold out.
perservered, got lucky, and got one seat! :)
alady, maybe the wind will blow in your favor and a ticket will surface!
got thru on ticket web at 10 ordered seats but ended up getting standing..
was pissed at first but now im grateful for getting to go.. Damn i know it wascold but earxtacy selling before 10 that's not right..
there are some on craigslist says make offer good luck
Thanks yvon! I'm kind of resigned to the fact that I'll have to skip it. My Nashville friends missed out on tickets too...I think it's a sign I'm not meant to go.
I refuse to admit defeat! I am going to dress up in a giant Valentine heart costume and pretend I'm a prop, vital to the course of events for the evening.
Damn, I hope nobody of importance is reading this.
Are you going, Crispy?
QuoteAre you going, Crispy?
If my Valentine heart costume plan works, then yeah, I'm going. But otherwise, no, I don't have a ticket. Maybe you could crash it with me in another big heart costume thing! How could they turn us away?

same happened to me, only i did not get lucky. ebay has 'em, for a massive markup of course. one of the sellers has 10 to unload @ $125 a piece.
also puzzling: the venue listed a max capacity of 150 seats & ear-x-tacy had 150 printed tickts to sell....
i've never been to louisville & was excited to have a reason to make the journey. oh well. congrats to all who got tickets!
retracting the 150 seat bit. just read the other thread, sounds like there were actually around 300 tickets.
makes me feel slightly better. i suppose the odds still favored louisville locals, if they could get to ear-x-tacy (which it sounds like many could). not much chance for a gal from the northeast...
it bummed me out that there was a "max ticket purchase" of 10 for such a small venue. that someone is selling all 10 of their tix on ebay, well that bums me out too.
crispyy, if you and alady make it in with your heart costumes, you can sit with me! [smiley=beer.gif]
Thanks, Ms. Y! I will look for you through the peephole of my giant heart costume, but I'm pretty sure we'll be busy, having been enlisted as essential props for the show...

Aw man, now that really bums me out. I'm happy for all you guys who were able to get tickets, but these crazy greedy scalpers really get my goat. There's a dude eBaying a pair of standing tickets for $299. >:(

I agree, yvon - a 10 ticket limit makes zero sense here. Especially since it was billed as a small, intimate Valentine's Day show...maybe they were expecting an audience of Hugh Hefners? ;) Ah well. If it's meant to happen, a face value ticket will float my way!

Now THAT, is the greatest bartering idea ever.
Anybody have an extra ticket? Did I mention I'd be coming from San Francisco and you will not suffer even a moment of the night with out a drink in your hand :) (Kory can vouch for that;) )
damn. my whole 'girl from the north(ern nj) country' plea is so weak compared to san fran for this. sigh. but, if anyone has a spare ticket i'd like to throw in a request 8-)
mind you, the timing is kinda crazy for me. i've got to plan/throw my sister's bridal shower and find/move into a new place by the end of feb. but i always work better under pressure...

Here here! I didn't even do anything for Dan and I couldn't drink the beers fast enough!
I'm working for you bro but not sure what magic I can work...
Did you pre-order the CD from Louisville is for Lovers? You can win tix that way... just a thought..
So I realize that the Yim Yames site has said "full solo album coming soon" for awhile. Just thinking we may here multiple new tunes from Jim and quite possibly some GH covers. Greatest V-Day ever!!!!
>> does anyone have any idea about a camera policy, this would be a great time for some up close and personal photos? :o
In a great setting I might add. ;D
now packing all my wool socks. tomorrow i'll be falling asleep on whoever is sitting next to me on the plane, and doing my best to drive safely to my hotel.
see you all sunday night!
To everyone going to this event...have a ton of fun and take lots of pics/videos. And if you meet Yim give him a big fat Cupid kiss from me. :-*
yvon and the rest, have a fantastic time! I know you will. Happy Valentine's Day!

woot! tomorrow night!!!
I've been shut out here in Louisville since the get go and the last leads I have are slim. If anyone hears of any ticket drops or the like today I'd love to know. I'll probably come down tonight and try my luck outside. Have a great show everyone.
Happy V-day to all you Lucky Louisvillians - have sooo much fun tonight! :D
live streaming? t minus 7.5 hours?
Have fun gang! We expect reports!!!
Hope you are all having a great night! Can't wait to hear all the juicy details !!
Jim. Roses. Pelicans. Have fun ya'll!
very nice :)
Sorry guys i dont have many details because my head is still spinning.
I can say my highlights were It beats for you and
Smokin from Shootin'. I will be there when you die opened with Bootsy Anne was great also.
Wow idk took some pics but for some reason they came out blurry, Like trying to take a picture of Superman or somethin'. I'm not sure Jim is human. The acoustics were awesome and jim played to the crowd alot, lots of laughs and cheers.

no mention of the tour at all. ive got an about 95% complete setlist. i will hafta post it later if no one else has. great great night. im off to bed.
not sure about recordings but im sure some nice details will be coming.
Camera nazis were in full effect. If a recording does surface I'm sure it will be good as the acoustics in the room were outstanding and the crowd was extremely focused on Jim. Not alot of crowd noise during songs. Just a small crowd of people peacefully letting they're minds get blown.

WOW! What a night! I'm still reeling and just full of gratitude to be a part of it. I sat next to Yvon in the second row and just soaked it all in. The venue was amazing! The setlist was great! I mean look at those covers! I was hoping for a new song going in, but nothing could have taken away from my enjoyment once Jim started singing. Take My Breath Away was definitely a highlight for me. The songs with Bootsy Ann were breath-taking, so to speak. I got the handwritten setlist. It's difficult to explain how magical a solo performance can be, but those who have been swept away by it before know what I'm talking about. Thank you, Jim!
btw, Kory had permission to shoot photos (apparently just him, Spin and Rolling Stone were allowed to shoot) so look forward to those and there was a taper in the building, let's all hope things worked out for him!
hey dylan good to see you last night. whered you see a taper? i looked and looked and saw nothing. unbelievable night, unbelievable show.
You had to know where to look, he was in stealth mode last night. I don't want to reveal his identity, but I assure you, he was there. :)
good enough for me, cant wait to hear it. im sure it will sound amazing. that was the one thing about this show. i had no idea how it would sound down there, but it really was other worldly.
this is ryan by the way
Ok, Ryan. I didn't know you were on the boards. Yeah, just keep checking back. I hope it'll pop up soon. Good to see you last night, as always!
howd you like that opener for a valentines day present? i bet that floored you guys. was candace there, i didnt see her?
Yeah, she was looking for you all, I guess she never found you. Tell the wife hello and congrats for her. Yeah, that was a perfect opener indeed. Perfect night!
thanks and will do. i just dropped her off for her first day of work... unbelieveable, my wife is getting paychecks now.
see you guys in nashville if not before, im off to mexico city for work... yea!!!

wow! what a setlist. I live in Nola and after the madness at work I walked down to the parade route and the first float I saw was decked out in a Valentine's day theme and I immediately thought about Yim and ya'll. Must have been pure magic. For those that made it. Soak it up.
Wow everyone! Sounds like an amazing night. I remember the 1st time I heard Jim sing Take My Breath Away I almost fell out of my chair...and that was on a disc. Great setlist. Glad you all had such a good time and way to go Kory! :)
WOW! I am sooo happy for y'all... :)
Congrats, Kory. Now don't go and forget all us little people :) I would LOVE to hear Jim sing "Just the two of us", love that song, can't imagine how great it must have been! What a great Valentine's treat for all who went [smiley=kiss.gif]

Thanks for noting the 'chord. Its my secondary obsession, after MMJ/YY. Always looking for examples of its use.
Loved Anytime w/Omnichord during 2008-05-16 Desmet - Amsterdam, The Netherlands with C. Broemel. Can't wait to hear the Vday show.
Expect some of Kory's pics of Yim w/'chord on the website. Thanks, Kory.

Kory's are better. I tell you, Paste, Spin, or Rolling Stone needs to snatch him up. He's got the real stuff.
I'll tell this story because I know Kory won't (hopefully he won't mind). The guy who shot for Spin was seriously impressed with Kory's work and was asking him how he got such good photos with the light in the room. Goes to show you that his work isn't only on par with the best, but better.
Wow, there really is a pretty noticeable difference. Nice work, Kory!

Kory's photos definitely blow away those paste one's by far. Kory's actually have dimension to them, the paste one's seem flat and lifeless. Not trying to suck anybodies dick here or anything but it's hard to believe those two sets of pics are from the same show. Quality work indeed kory the whorey.. It's always appreciated.

I tell this story because I know Kory won't (hopefully he won't mind). The guy who shot for Spin was seriously impressed with Kory's work and was asking him how he got such good photos with the light in the room. Goes to show you that his work isn't only on par with the best, but better.
Thanks everyone, I seriously love you guys!
it was really the SPIN guy's girlfriend that emailed me and gave me mad props... which is really nice in the photo indtrustry as it's cutthroat as hell. I'd love to take concert photography for a career but I think the wedding industry is rough enough let alone throwing bows with folks in a pit of togs...
seriously though, thanks for all the good vibes people, you're a great group!

you should totally travel with my morning jacket on their next world tour as their photographer. they're getting big enough to employ bonus people aren't they? bug them about that shit asap. I bet under that owl in Jims pocket is a fat wad of cash with your name on it. do you do nudes? think about it.
sooooo jealous. but so happy for all who were there! set list looks phenom &, kory - your pics are beautiful!
all i can do is sigh.
QuoteAwesome pics! What an amazing venue.
Yes. Bravo Kory! Thanks for kinda letting us in. :)
Hey all first time poster here. I was lucky enough to be at this show sitting second row center. It was my first live Jim James show and I have to say it was the single greatest live event I have ever been to. I am so glad others that were there were as blown away by "Take My Breath Away" as I was. He sang that thing in the rafters the whole time. The entire set list was outstanding and he knocked the cover off as only Jim can. Also thanks to all the cool people we met for sharing your stories, it was great meeting other people who know what real music is about.
Question though for those more informed than me, was this show recorded and is it going to be available at some point?
I just keep reading people saying "I can't wait to hear it" or "Can't wait til its available". I would love it if it was.
Welcome to the boards! I was sitting to your right in between the two lovely ladies.
Anyway, there was a taper there with equipment. I would expect a recording to show up sometime soon (although out of respect for the tapers we let these things happen on their own). Check back here and in the taping section.
kissing the omni? holy hell thats awesome. Great pics as usual Kory!
QuoteQuotekory, your shots really capture the gorgeous color in that room. i was fixated on the tile tableaus all night.
yvon! I want to hear your review :)
thanks, m! i've had some thoughts rolling around in my head. i'll put a few down here when i get a chance! [smiley=beer.gif]
my younger sis got to go. her boyfriend took her as a valentine's present. she said the show was nothing less than stellar.
beautiful photos, kory! thanks for sharing them with us.

Have we established if there was a taper? I would give anything to get my hands on this show.
Very jealous of those in attendance.

Really, does it really save you time to wait for an answer rather than just read the thread? That question has been answered at least four times now in this thread. :D is right!
aMillionDreams I only asked a simple question, I did not ask for a smart answer.
If the shoe was on the other foot I'd be kind enough to give you a straight answer
Thanks for nothing
If the shoe was on the other foot it would be hard to dance. :-?
might dance like aMillionDreams
Quotemight dance like aMillionDreams
it's just funny because you're not the first to ask in this thread. 12posts before you posted is the answer to your question, and it was asked I think at least a couple times in this thread. no big deal, it's funny as fuck. the n00bs are coming!! LOOK OUT!!! ;)
Sticky Ick Green Stuff, you have a good point & its well taken but I'm not really interested in scanning all nine pages of comments that don't relate to my question.
I just asked a simple question, do you not think I should get a simple answer?

before that kory said he taped it or dylan said he knew somebody or something. to be honest with you, you could probably read this entire thread before somebody responded to you. this place isn't really fast paced. don't get pissy with me.
sticky icky green stuff I'm not getting pissy with you or aMillionDreams or anyone for that matter
I'm sorry if I came across that way, I just wanted to know something, I did not commit a crime

So, does anyone know when a recording will be available?
I can't wait!
Also, any word on MMJ touring anytime soon?
And, what's up with the number Yim adds after he signs shit?
Someone should post that as a separate topic...
What instrument is Jim playing in some of those pics? :-?

Those photos are scary good, Kory. Out of curiosity, how exactly did you get lighting that good? ;)

Nice work!!
Spin wrote that Yim dedicated this song "to a mystery woman...where ever she may be" While JamBase wrote "Yim kept the theme of first timers coming by dedicating Buddy Holly's "True Love Ways" to a mystery woman in the crowd."
Solo or not so solo on Valentine's day?
