Title: Best Venue of the Mini Tour
Post by: danz on Feb 01, 2010, 09:55 PM
If you could only go to one show, which would it be?  Traveling NOT being a factor; Venue and possibly duration of stage time are...

Birmingham, AL       Alabama Theater
Nashville, TN            Municipal Auditorium
Atlanta, GA            Chastain Park
New Orleans, LA      Jazz & Heritage Festival
St. Augustine, FL     St. Augustine Amphitheater
Charleston, SC        Family Circle
Raleigh, NC           Koka Booth
Columbia, MD           Merriweather Post Pavilion
Columbus, OH           LC Outdoor Pavilion

Just so no one is confused, the venue column is shifted one row down and Alabama Theatre should be at the top next to B'ham.

That said, I would probably choose Jazzfest just because so much else is going down and its truly an amazing scene except I'm not sure how long their set will end up being.  Usually when bands play on the mainstage at Jazzfest its a shorter show.

For example, here is the setlist for DMB last year:

Two Step *
Grey Street *
Why I Am *
Anyone Seen The Bridge *
Too Much (Fake) *
Ants Marching *
#41
Burning Down The House *
Dancing Nancies *
Spaceman *
Corn Bread *
So Damn Lucky *
Funny The Way It Is *
Stay (Wasting Time) *

So not a huge difference but maybe 3 to 5 songs shorter than usual.

I'm guessing the JF set will run from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. Thankfully, I have MPP the following weekend. Woo!

I am going to MPP and the ATL show, but if I could work it out I would hit up Charleston just because the city is awesome.

how long was their set? two hours? an hour and a half?  Posting that setlist is pointless without the set time.

I'd say that's about an hour and a half dmb set. Unless they played like, a 20 minute Two Step, but I doubt they did.

Well, theyre playing at the LC Pavillion n Columbus,OH. In 08 i drove up to see that and the venue was exactly where i would like to see jacket again. It was outdoors, and alot smaller and intimate than expected...and it was a great show! plus outdoor venues, in my opnion anywasy, are always a better expereince.Nashville is guna be lots of fun too because i feel like the kentuckey fans are most likely to drive there than anywhere else. Municipal Auditorium is a great place with a laxed staff and PLENTY of room for activities. Those are the only 2 venues ive personally been too thats on the list so far. Honeslty though, jacket will bring the fuckin house down regardeless of the venue so my advice would be to see our savior Yim Yames as many times as you possibly can. LONG LIVE THE JACKETNESS!!! See you bitches in Nashvegas!! (and tell everybody to bring ass loads of glwsticks for when they play Gideon too!!)

I think I'd go with Koka Booth in SC.  That place just looks amazing and enchanted from the photos, a perfect spot for MMJ to play.

its probably a little over an hour and a half of music, which equates to probably a two hour time slot factoring in encore break and breaks between songs.
