lol, we started new threads on this subject at the exact same time!
headlining with pavement on top of so many heavy hitters in the indie world. so f'ing awesome. wish i could make it there from Florida.
hmmmm.... :)
Sasquatch festival held a concert last night to announce the Sasquatch line up. Outside of MMJ and Band Of Horses I'm not really impressed. I'm still holding out for Bonnaroo to announce an MMJ set and then i'll go there.
I like the Sasquatch lineup. I am thinking of going, but would prefer to just hit a few non festival related west coast shows.
is that in the newspaper? I love that poster!!
MMJ Pavement DBT She and Him....this was just put out there to torture me since I can't go that weekend.
i missed sasquatch last year because of work, but the lineup was awesome then. looks like another great lineup especially mmj, she & him, drive-by truckers, ween, tallest man on earth, hold stead, and broken social scene. i made it out to the gorge for the first time for phish last year and all i can say is the venue is my favorite on earth. beautiful place. i've since left seattle, but you should go if you can.
Garfunkel and Oates????Like Simon and Garfunkel and Hall and Oates?
how much does this shit own Bonnaroo....
awesome line-up! waaaay too far away though :(
Holy SHIT! This will be sick. I have tickets to see Hold Steady, Portugal. The Man and MMJ along the east coast in April. Throw in Band of Horses, Drive By Truckers and the National, my ticket is punched from Newark to Seattle.
I'm pretty close to booking. It's what I hoped Roo would look like this year.
*edit* Okay, campsite booked. It's on. :)
Undercooked, overpriced Domino's pizza...here I come! ;D
$13 Molson tallboys, woohoo! ;D
No kidding, that's why we're bringing watermelons that may or may not have vodka infused!! Also, wine. Have you ever seen the Wine Bra? ;D 8-)
Vespa, Carling and I (we met you in seattle and portland 08) may come depending on what day the MMJ show is on.
Does anyone have any idea what day MMJ is on and if/when single day tix go on sale?
THAT'S a nice lineup! Jacket at the Gorge...man, that just sounds perfect. I've got to get back up there one of these days...

Quotenice photo bbill!
I actually didn't take that one...I pulled it from a Phish board after their shows up there last year. It is a nice photo though!
I do have a bunch of Gorge pics at home, actual printed photos. I went up there during the summers of '97 and '98 (for Phish ::)).
This fest lineup continues to impress me...
...I've always been a big fan of this ad campaign...

I LOVE those commercials ;D
How lucky are we that MMJ is spreading the music love this year?? They're hitting the west coast, the south, the east (somewhat). Let's hope they hit up the middle to melt off a few faces there.
We are fans of the greatest band in the world.
**Wish I could go to Sasquatch! You all better represent.

I split the dif with my lottery winnings.
Awesome - they're closing Saturday night and Massive Attack closes Sunday. I was worried I'd have to choose. However, they better let The National play well before the Jacket. Not that it will be a tough choice for me, but still, I love The National.

MMJ at The Gorge?! :o
Never been to the bigfoot fest -- typical set time for headliners -- are we going to get a long set from MMJ?
Probably not a 4-hour Roo-style marathon, but at least 2 hours, maybe more? The Cure played almost 3 hours in '08...that was a long, cold set!
It's out in the middle of nowhere (don't recall hearing much about curfew/noise restrictions in the past) and it's their first time headlining a fest of this size...maybe they'll pull out the stops? :D

That was '09 (It's 2010 now Alady!!!), and they played acoustically after the plug was pulled. Awesomesauce indeed)

Are you thinking Coachella, maybe? I remember being at that set, and I didn't go to Sasquatch in '09, so... ;D

This can't be said enough :)
I am thinking Coachella. Woops. :-[ ;D
I heard amazing things about that Coachella set! So cool you got to see it :)

Love how MMJ is first on the list...Rightfully so. They are at a point in there career where they tell venues where they are playing. Truely an A-list band.
From might be driving from CT to CA for a job... Hoping for a set of west coast dates. :)
Are we sure MMJ is on saturday night?????? Anybody know anything about single day passes? Its not that i don't want to go for the entire weekend but our (Canada) long weekend is the week before yours and i am in School monday - thursday.

Eric, 'Quatch has the lineup posted by day, and they are headlining Saturday. And they damn well better not be playing in Portland on Sunday or Monday! :)
Single day tix go on sale this Saturday for $70.
Just a warning that the 3-day passes are only available through Sunday for $180ish.
After that, it'll be $250+ to buy individual tickets for all three days.
Yikes :(
Vespa, hotel is booked!!!!!! We are going to be there saturday night for sure! Unfortunately that will be our only day at Sasquatch. I am hoping they push their tour back into summer so we can come back and do Portland and Seattle again.
I'll look for you and Carling! 8-)
Here I come. Three days of camping. Taking my 16-year-old daughter.

Not only did the Cure Play a 3 hour set, but REM played one equaly as long the next night at the same 08 Sasquatch. MMJ closing the first night should easily rip a 3 hour set. Throw Cobra in there, get a little cameo from Jim with She and Him, perfecto, I could go home happy. Except I will be ripping the rest of the weekend to the best lineup of this year's festivals. MGMT BEFORE Ween to close it out, all is right in the world.
I am so beyond there. This is the festival I have been waiting for. How comfortable are the amenities at the gorge? Is it rough camping, like people on top of each other? I havent been to a festival since woodstock 94 and that was a fucking mess.
man this festival looks so awesome!
I'd love to do this festival but plane tickets are not pretty to Seattle and then I'd have to rent a car, fly with camping gear, etc. The logistics are killing me.

Or, you could fly into Portland and drive with us. We could strap you and wifey to the roof racks, no prob. ;)

I've only been to Sasquatch once, last year, but we plan on making it a yearly. Anyhoo, in regular camping it was car camping and when we arrived about midnight on Friday night it was a complete cluster'eff. However, it worked out to our advantage since there was little to no security or direction at "load in". For example: There was an RV driving through the campsite without anybody giving him direction (along with many other cars) looking for a spot and it took out one of those huge agricultural sprinkler systems that farmers use - he didn't know he had caught it with the top of the rented Winnebago and was towing it across the field of peeps. People were hollering and trying to get him to stop. Water was spraying everywhere, and it was a mess! Anyway, people were scurrying everywhere and it caused such a mess that everyone just ended up moving cars anywhich way away from the flood and we ended up with a much bigger spot.
Also, it's a bit of a shlep from regular camping to the venue entrance. It's probably only .75 or 1 mile, but it feels like 5. As well, I only attempted a shower once and it was freezing cold and fairly nasty in there. The food at the venue sucks ass and is way overpriced. I'm def doing VIP this year. That all being said, we had a supremely awesome time and I would recommend going!!

So like, your average festival, it's smells like ass and patchouli all weekend? I was thinking the VIP as well, I'm too old for all that. How much of a bitch is is to bring in a case or two of beer? If not how much did it run at the venue? I think I am just going to rent an suv and sleep in there. My girlfriends parents live in Spokane, so we may just drive back there afterwards and crash instead of hopping right on a plane. We are in Ohio, btw. Thanks for all the info! We should meet up!
also, I ride a lambretta :P
they should call the festival "Sasscrotch". have fun, I want to see ween again almost as much as I want to see the jacket. I bleed envy. fuck you fun loving sexual predators. s my d.

$13 for a PBR/Molson tallboy. Not even kidding. :P
I'm a college student from NJ trying to get out to the Gorge. I'm having a really really really tough time trying to find a ride from Seattle to the Gorge. What does everyone suggest.

you could fly into portland via southwest. a couple summers ago i flew w-camping equip. i put a small tent, sleeping bag and some ammenties in a rolling duffel and checked it. keep it simple: don't pack a campstove or anything. ;)
also: just bought a ticket for saturday! once i figure if i've got camping in me, i'll buy tix for sun & mon. [smiley=cheesy.gif]
You can also rent camping gear pretty cheaply from REI in Portland or Seattle.

We booked a hotel in the area for $60 a night. I'm thinking the extra comfort is worth some extra $.
Just bought our 3-day passes! (beans and rice w/2 buck chuck for the rest of the month!).
Unfortunately, premiere camping is sold out, so....I emailed Sasi and they told me they're working on VIP camping. Hopefully I won't have to sell my dog to afford the tix. Otherwise, I guess we'll be sleeping on the highway!!! (PLease don't make me camp in regular!!!).
See you all there!!!! Woot!

If anyone ends up needing or wanting a room, I have two booked at the Super 8 at Moses Lake. It's about a 30 minute or less drive to the Gorge. I'll hang on to them for about a month before I cancel, so just be in touch if you want one or both (both have two queen size beds in each room).
We stayed there two years ago and it wasn't a bad drive in to the fest or back.
I have been perusing the Sasquatch lineup and I am *this* close to deciding that I need to go. Of all bands, Midlake is pushing me over the top (which is kind of silly, seeing as I could just drive down to Denton, TX). Another compelling factor is that it's been a few years since I've driven across the country to see MMJ, and it's about time to hitch that wagon again.
Anybody who is located between Oklahoma and WA and thinking about this, I have extra seats in my jeep.

QuoteSasquatch festival held a concert last night to announce the Sasquatch line up. Outside of MMJ and Band Of Horses I'm not really impressed. I'm still holding out for Bonnaroo to announce an MMJ set and then i'll go there.
First of all, yes I am quoting myself. I am doing this because I jumped to conclusions about the lineup. There are a ton of really awesome bands playing. Some are new to me while others aren't. I think I may have just been all caught up in the excitement of a MMJ show within a 12 hour drive from me. My apologies. :P :D ;D
How long of a set you think the boys are gunna get?
2-2.5 hours is what I would expect.

eric, are you just looking for the cd? i saw it for sale at the record store in my neighborhood. if you're still looking, i would be happy to pick it up for you!
To be honest I didn't even know there was a cd, I thought it was the dvd that came with Okonokos.Either way I would love a copy of that! You can PM some info and I can send cash in advance or whatever works best for you. Thanks so much! :)
Honestly, I finally caved last year and picked up a copy on eBay. I know they were "given away" with Okonokos a few years ago, but I ended up paying around $30. It was worth every penny. I like AC more than Okonokos on some levels.
It does come up on eBay from time to time. I did a search and found a copy for sale through Amazon for $49.99! That's excessive. I also downloaded low-res .avi files and have converted them into a low-res DVD I could burn for you, no charge (just need the address; email me). I tried to make a high-res copy of it from the original DVD, but they must have some copy protection mechanism in the way.
I could also burn you an audio CD from .mp3 files, or you can get the tracks from The Okonokos Project.
For anyone who has attended this event in the past can you tell me if they release all the 3 day passes at once. Right now I can't purchase tickets to the event and I know ticketmaster sometimes staggers their tickets not releasing all tickets at once

aha! well, i don't have the DVD, so i'm out of that. if i see a copy of the CD at the record store, i'll pick one up for you.
Just got a copy of the DVD off ebay. He was trying to sell it for $50 but I talked him down to $30. If you find a copy of the cd I would be most grateful.

Word on the street is that 3-day passes are sold out; last year the 3-day passes sold out in April and some friends of mine had to scrounge single day passes on craigslist rather than get reemed 3x by ticketbastard (unfortunately they couldn't find a single day for Saturday and had to hang around the camp all day while we rocked out). You might try craigslist for a 3-day pass closer to the festival. Good lucks.
I don't think I'm going anymore and have a 3-day pass to sell for face. :'(
Please PM me if you're interested in buying it, or just want to send me some words of comfort ;D
Words of comfort...Hold out till the beginning of May to see for sure if you have to miss it, then sell your passes. it may lead to more disappointment in the end but at least you wouldn't find out in May you could have gone but sold your tickets. Of course i know nothing of why you aren't going but those are my thoughts. :)
Thanks, Erik. That sounds like a good plan. :)
That does suck that you're not coming out west! However, I may have a taker for that pass...
I'm starting to get pretty excited! We are only 50 days away, so here's a question for those attending or wishing they were attending. What bands/comics other than MMJ are you guys excited to see at Sasquatch this year?
There are a bunch of bands that I'm looking forward to checking out at Sasquatch.
Dr. Dog and Band of Horses come to mind. Mayer Hawthorne is a throwback to Motown and classic soul. Dirty Projectors last album was incredible. Camera Obscura writes great songs. Gotta give props to M. Ward and check out She and Him. Hoping to discover new acts that I'm not familiar with, also. But let's not kid ourselves...My Morning Jacket is going to steal the show!
anyone have an extra single day ticket for friday and sat??
