Who's on board for this? Sounds like folks are coming from all over, might be a nice chance for the beer snobs to share their local treats!
Please post where you're coming from, what you can bring, what requests you have for others, and we can start arranging some swaps...
I'm coming from Chicago and can bring stuff from the breweries here (Goose Island, Three Floyds) and can bring Wisconsin beers too (New Glarus, Sprecher, Ale Asylum, etc.).
Goddamnit this makes me wants to just come to the parking lot without tix
I'm coming from NYC. Will bring Rye whiskey and beer. I like just about any beer I can get my hands on... not a big Sam Adams fan. Or Bass. Or any of those low-carb / light beers. But pretty much anything else.
Some Blue Point Toasted Lager should do the trick for this! Maybe a weiss beer too, if it's good and sunny out. Perhaps Ayinger or Paulaner? Or maybe it would be good to stick with American beers... so a Blue Moon.
The time is getting near!

Love the sound of that!
great idea ALady!
i'm more of what you'd call a beer brat. not a big fan of the micro brews. i find a lot of them to be too sweet. i get suckered by the fancy labels & have been burned many times. ultimately, i'm a guinness girl, but the black stuff's a bit heavy on the belly for this type of thing.
anyhaps, blue moon's rising moon is what's on tap for me tonight. not adventurous but delicious. and anchor steam is delightful as well. especially their summer brew. i'll probably be bringing one or both of them.
edit: oh yeah - coming from nj.
Hi ALady! I'm Trish from NJ and I am a lover of lots of different beers! This is such a fantastic idea!! Thanks for organizing!
There is a very small microbrewery in the town next to mine where they only sell the beer in these big jugs......I will bring a few of those! it's pretty good.....I have 2 bottles in the fridge from a place in the northeast of Vermont called Jay Peak, and if I dont drink them by then, I will bring those too! Probably some Sierra Nevada Torpedo too.
If there are any NY beers you want, let me know!
Are you staying at the Sheraton??
Thanks, cant believe it's less than a month away!!
I like the thought, and will definitely be bringing a brew of some sorts, although coming from Pittsburgh and being somewhat close to the venue, not sure what I could bring that would be exclusively local.
It'll probably something on the lighter side though, because when it comes to summer shows, the heat, and drinking reebs for multiple hours, I try to stray from the heavy.
I got a couple ideas though

Not all micros are sweet. I hate sweet beers. And since you're from NJ, you should go to the High Point/Ramstein brewery in Butler. They brew almost exclusively wheat beers - the beers that Blue Moon tries to emulate.
Anyway, anyone from NJ do everyone else a favor and cut through Easton and get some Weyerbacher to share with everyone.
I think you all just need to make a big vat of Moose Piss:
http://www.webtender.com/db/drink/4529
It sounds delicious. Plus, it says it a "party" drink. Beer is going to make you have to piss the whole show. I'm only saying that because I'm jealous.
Love this idea! I am coming from NY city. I am a big Guinness drinker. Best from the can if you are on the road. Prob bring a 12 of those and also a 12 of Amstel Light. Maybe pick up some other interesting brew on the road. PBR is always a party fav! Can't wait to crack one open on May 1! :D
Lady you are awesome!
I'm all in! I will probably bring Blue Moon (just as my personal favorite, I know it's not a local one) and some Troegs. That's a local brewery near me (Hershey, PA) and I'm not sure where it's available elsewhere. If anything looks good on the website, speak up people! If no requests I'll surprise you all. :)
http://www.troegs.com/
may have to participate in this.
my suggestion for organization would be to bring whatever you want, and do one for one trades when you meet up. i.e. if you want six beers, bring a sixer of your beer and then when you meet up trade one of those beers for one of someone elses, your second beer to someone else for one of theirs, etc.
will cut down on confusion ahead of time and let people mix and swap and meet a bunch of different people in the process.

You can get Toegs in NYC. The HopBack Amber is pretty great. And The Troegenator has been known to kill me on occasion.

This sounds like an excellent plan. Thanks houdini!
Ky, TROEGS??? You would be my heroine, we can't get that in Chicago!

Awesome! :) I didn't know it sold in NYC.
Yes,
Lady...I will stock up just for you!
Sounds like a great idea, i'm coming from Philly. Will bring some Yards, Flying Fish, Triumph, Dogfish Head and some Victory. Can't wait for this show.
Sweet! Love some Dogfish Head...
We just started getting Stone Brewing here too, does anyone want me to bring some of that?
ALady and others, are any of these not available to you: Stoudt's, Widmer Brothers, or Victory?
...I see gonzo might bring some Victory, but they have a ton of options
Coming from Vermont.. I will bring some Long Trail Blackbeary Wheat and Belgiam White.
I will also brint some Magic Hat number 9, and Circus Boy!
I'll be sure to bring a case of delicious, Yuengling. And maybe some Brooklyn Weiss too, perfect for a nice day. ;)
I'll bring the bud! Not the alcoholic beer though. :D
Y'all making me thirsty...
Had some Magic Hat Vinyl this weekend...good stuff! :)
Looking forward to this!
I am bringing a few jugs of this stuff to share, the "Climax IPA" is brewed in the town right next to mine and is pretty yummy stuff!

Anybody coming from Colorado? I'm dying to get my hands on some Breckenridge.

thanks for the tip, i'll have to do a field trip sometime soon.
i recently moved & the liquor stores i've checked out so far are horrendous. just the typical beers sold in 40's, 6-packs or 12-packs if you want bud light. ICK!
made a side trip to my old purveyor & they had slim pickings. so, i just grabbed a couple 6's of anchor steam. i'll share or trade with whomever.
just super psyched for saturday! :D
Awesome, you guys! I'm psyched too :)
I think I'm going to bring a little sampler - New Glarus Black Wheat, New Glarus Cran-bic (cranberry lambic), Tyranena Rocky's Revenge (aged in bourbon barrels), Ale Asylum Tripel Nova, maybe some Magic Hat Vinyl and a bomber of Goose Island Sofie if it'll fit in the suitcase...
Let me know if you have any requests from Goose Island or Three Floyds and I can try to bring them!
Is this a seperate event or a subsection of the other MPP tailgate?
Sounds great to me.
ps. sorry if I'm a little confused, I quit reading setlists after last week (if there are changes this week, I want to be surprised, so I'm trying not to read many threads at all because you never know where you are getting "spoiled")
One in the Same. :)
Are we sure we can tailgate at the MPP lot?
I'll bring some Golden Ales and IPAs from the Mayflower Brewery in Plymouth, MA, which just opened for business a few years ago. You can only find their beers in eastern Mass, and mostly south of Boston, but they are growing. The Golden Ale is one of my faves, local or otherwise. It's not too sweet and very tasty! Their IPA is just a typical IPA, but it gets you drunk.
I got 12 Widmer Bros Drop Top Ales..Im going to pick up a case of something else, but it might just me something for easy drinking like Labatt's.
So is everyone just carrying their cooler to the flag then??
Just thought about this ;D
I've got about 18 get funky headbands to give away... I would post a pick but that would spoil it for everyone
amc - since bluesky made the flag; i nominate her as the 1st recipient.
Quoteamc - since bluesky made the flag; i nominate her as the 1st recipient.
She shall receive one then! I tried to match the flag's color to the headbands but I was fighting the ink in the studio and the material so it's not quite there.
QuoteI've got about 18 get funky headbands to give away... I would post a pick but that would spoil it for everyone
shit dude, I got some beers with your name on 'em for a headband

I miscounted- I only have 17... I should have made more... perhaps next time! Aside from bluesky getting one for making the flag I'm just going to try and hand them out first come first serve so- beer or no beer- if I see you before I run out, you are sure to get one. Were you able to get pit tickets?
Of course my intention was to bribe you all with gifts so I could get a rail spot right in front of Jim. That way I could try and pass 5 headbands up to the band, maybe they would wear them?

hey there, alady!
i don't know if i'm too late, but i just made the decision to attend the merriweather show. if you could grab some three floyd's gumballhead, i'd be forever in your debt. also, we're driving back for the cbus show if you wanna caravan!
Gumballhead is on the list! No probs man!
Oh man, don't tempt me with the c'bus show...I shouldn't...I really shouldn't...I want to, I really want to! ;D
*edit* shoot, don't have to be at work until 11 on Monday...hmmm.
slimslo, I couldn't find any Gumballhead :-[ They said they haven't resumed their regular shipping schedule since Dark Lord Day.
I have a stray bottle of 3Floyds Pride & Joy Mild Ale I'd be happy to bring, if you want. Let me know!
I was just reminiscing about this as I was getting ready for work this morning.
I still can't believe ALady packed up all that beer and brought it on the plane with her! Just one of those things that make this group so special, and one of the little tidbits I will remember for years to come!
Miss you all, can't wait to see some of you on 2.12 ;) We will miss you ALady, and the others who won't be able to make it! But see you at the next SHOW!

The way she packed that suitcase was simply amazing. She's a master packer. Hahaha. Good times, good times.
