Title: More Fall Shows on East Coast
Post by: CTdeadhead on Jul 23, 2010, 12:44 PM
Just got a tip from my buddy in ME, the local paper up there stated that:

" MY MORNING JACKET opens the stage at the State Theatre in Portland, ME on Friday, October 15".

Looks solid.  There's bound to be more.

Odd that it's not on MMJ's listing of shows.  About 2.5 hours away on a Friday... I can probably swing it.

Maybe it'll be a rehearsal for all the rarities they're planning for the Terminal 5 shows!

I'll bet we get another announcement on Monday or Tuesday.

I think that's a pretty safe bet - I can't imagine them playing the same ol' setlist on Friday, then the next Monday heading into Tennessee Fire.

Portland is perhaps my favorite city in the world.  Sort of interesting that its promoted by the Bowery, but its a good sign as far as the setlist goes!!  They are gonna have to practice at least some of the tunes.  I predict a Boston gig...just makes too much sense, especially since they got  a short set w/Petty.

I will be at this Portland show for sure, what a primer for T4 or is it T5, you can never believe what you read...."FIVE PIECE BAND!! (and sometimes more)".

Where are you Hartford?  Just guessing...If I can make it from Charlotte, you can do it!!  I used to drive up there twice a month from CT.  My prediction is this is gonna be a great mix of the 5 nights, but I could be wrong.   I almost had to cancel the T5 trip but glad I didn't have to.

The Granite State, 30 miles southwest of Concord.  Portland is 2:20 from here, according to a quick Mapquest, so more like 2 hrs. even.  Oh, I'll be there.  This will be my 8th MMJ-related show in 2010, so I gots to take it slow around the wife.  And that doesn't include the T5, which I cannot manage.  Look forward to seeing you in Portland, if not before (Essex Jct? Holyoke? Mansfield? Newport?).

I've seen Ween in the State Theatre, pretty chill spot.

Hoping for some more west coast love.  Probably unlikely though.

Probably one of my favorite venues when it was around and my favorite city to see music.  Last time MMJ played there Tommy got sick in Boston the night before.   They played without him to about 200 people tops because there was a storm and Tommy comes out in his hospital scrubs for the encore..one of my favorite MMJ show stories....I'm so there!!

On Friday, October 15th My Morning Jacket will play the grand re-opening of the State Theatre on Portland, ME. The theatre, built in 1929, was closed for renovation in 2006 and will re-open this fall.

A pre-sale for fans will begin on Wednesday, July 28th at 10AM EST

I would love a show in Hartford...I live in Avon (15 minutes away). Have MMJ ever played in CT?

MMJ has played the Meadows in 06, opening for PJ, and the Webster back in '03 or '04.  I lived in Simsbury up till  last year when I moved down South, hence my screen name.  They are playing Holyoke in Aug, that only a short drive up 91.  See ya there.
