Unbelievable show. Might have been my favorite of theirs. I was right on the rail in front of Jim. I was the guy with the long hair & beard wearing the red #3 Juan Dixon Maryland jersey. I'm pretty sure some board members were near me. Speak up if you were! Despite a couple people, mainly the guy in the Chris Johnson jersey getting belligerent, it was a nice group down there.

The crowd was obviously super hot from the start and you could tell Jim ans the boys were feeding off of it big time. Carl was having some constant footing troubles, tripping over wires, falling backwards on his ass, but continuing to rock out.

Awesome setlist. Everything was just so on point. So awesome to see Steam Engine for the first time. Dancefloors KILLED.

Also, Jim and the Jacket always bring in the cute girls, but MPP was swarming with them. I was surrounded by good looking girls, including this one blonde girl who was particularly gorgeous. I'm a sucker for the whole pretty hippie braided hair thing.

Okay, I'll go out of creep mode, now. Ha.

Such an amazing show. Well worth the 3.5 hours from and then back to NJ.

First show since New Years, and opening with OBH was like getting shot out of a freakin' cannon. I was right in front of you jmk (blue bandanna), think we rolled our eyes at each other with Chris Johnson lol. A minor hiccup in an otherwise incredible show. Right up there with my favorites. Preservation Hall was awesome, encore with Dancefloors was ridiculous. Jim playing back to back with Joe Lastie is one of the funniest things I've ever seen at a Jacket show, which is actually saying quite a bit.

Nice to see some forum people again. Knew it would be a great one when sassbox asked me if I wanted a water and  brought me back a beer. Felt like summer of 08 all over again...

He was making the puke face about 3/4 of the way through the set and we just kept moving him to the left. Eventually someone behind me told him to keep moving if he was gonna puke.

Ya gotta look at it this way: there's always gonna be at least one, thankfully there wasn't more. Most everyone down there was fantastic and having a great time, which is how it should be. Classy folks, those MMJ fans. Enjoy the great crowds while we can.

Steam Engine > Smokin' > Run Thru Reprise > Touch Me Pt 2

Who has the stamina to endure that, let alone play that?

I'm jealous of all of you.

I believe Highly Suspicious was taken out.  No qualms here.
Fantastic show.  Was nice to very briefly meet Lady, Kydiddle and Kenny76.  Also good to see Sass again.  Also great to meet RockburnPark and see Ms. Y again.  And of course it was great to randomly meet Ghosts who I got to rock out with for the first half of the show.

Wow - where to start.

Seen them 5 times, I guess that still makes me a relative noob in this crowd - Will have to wait a bit for the buzz(es) to wear off for some perspective but pretty sure this was the best of the 5.

The crowd was great - pregame was great - thanks JDbartender - my friend Sean won the Kentucky Derby pool so drinks were on him.   We were 3 people deep off the rail right in front of YY (2 people behind bluesky and the flag).... was thrilled with the setlist choices.   Started and ended rockin, with mellow in the middle...

Basically any griping or negativity I had brought re: setlist, start times, curfew, etc.... washed away within 20 mins.   The opener was brilliant, Steam Engine - with hazy fog pouring off Jimmy - (it was HOT in the pit) ....

I had stopped reading setlists a week ago so was expecting the 3 cover encore, got Dancefloors instead which was a huge shot of great news.   Band killed it.    No Dondante which is prob the right call with a 2 hr setlist, since there goes 10% of the show...

Anyway, more thoughts when I get home.

Nice to meet so many of you.

I am typing this on my phone so I will post more later but the show was AMAZING!!! Preservation Hall was great too. I would like to add that Carl fell during one of the first few songs. Fell backwards onto his back and kept playing on the floor then quickly recovered. He went with it. That is why I love snowy bramble.

Jrud...I am sorry for slapping you and your buddy on the back multiple times. I was mad into it. It was great to meet you and everyone else along the way. Agh!!!! Great show. And jim reached out and grabbed my hand at the end. Swoon.

Steam Engine=brilliant.  :o

Would have to agree completely with what people are saying already..show was amazing!

I ended up in the pit directly behind the quick fight that broke out (guys tripping on E vs. some other asshole), but once that washed over..the rock was intense and non-stop. Jim and the boys delivered big once again. Would have loved some Touch pt. 1 or Cobra..but the set list was still incredible nonetheless.  ;D :D ;D :D

This band just continues to blow my mind!

It was aweomse meeting SO many forum members & friends!!!  Overall a magical day! ;)

wow is an understatement. one of the greatest  shows and great day/night doubleheaders ever.

drove down from long island and met so many cool people in the parking lot beforehand.  thanks to the boys from charlottesville for all the music sharing.

the show was fantastic, they were spot on and the setlist was supurb.  actually seeing jim do st. james infirmary with the PHB was as awesome as the mmj stuff.  was 2nd row on right side of stage and thanks to all the cool people around who partied and danced all night.

for a compact show at just over 2 hours, there was no letup in energy and the music really shined.  the boys looked like they had a blast and the venue was terrific.  gotta get a copy of this one.

feeling a very good tired today.

Wow.  Exactly 17 months since the last time I'd seen the boys so of course I was excited.  Tons of energy, I had no qualms with the crowd I was surrounded by some great people in the pit and made some new friends.  I was really hoping for a Dancefloors and they KILLED it.  Probably best song of the night IMO.  I was originally upset that we were missing about a half hour of the normal show but they did a great job tweaking the setlist and I loved every second of it.  Steam Engine was fantastic.  I'm glowing today, a bit sore from dancing oh so much, but as always, totally worth it.  Now heres hoping for a full blown summer/fall tour to be announced soon.  I can't wait another year and a half!

I think the band really put on an awesome show even with the stupid curfew. They crammed in an excellent setlist and gave it their all.

P.S. I have to apologize again to folks around me in the pit. Many beers combined with my first show in the pit sent me into overdrive. I am sorry if my cheerful dancing and excitement got in the way. Don't worry I will tone it down next time. And let's hope there is a next time very soon!

Can't get over what an amazing show that was. No better way than seeing it directly under Jim James.

Such an amazing show and I was beyond thrilled with the setlist. Being from New Orleans, it's so great to see PHJB getting some love from a younger fanbase and y'all probably don't realize how special it was that "Carnival Time" was included last night. Hope you loved it as much as I did.

PHJB was unreal- I couldn't stop smiling during their whole performance!

I couldn't have asked for a better show from the Jacket- start to finish they brought so much energy.  Jim decided to keep the banter to a minimum and squeeze in as much music as they could.  He didn't see the get funky head bands I threw on stage but I got to touch the cape during Wordless Chorus so it makes up for the other.

The crowd really stuck out to me last night. On their feet and moving from start to finish. I think the PH Band had a lot to do with that. The crowd really responded to them and you could see it was appreciated. And as others have said, Dancefloors was just ridiculous. Haven't listened to the taping yet (that will be rectified momentarily) but I have no doubt that the numbers with the PH Band will instantly be among my all time favorites. They couldn't have picked a better opener, they just seemed to be really in tune with each other, and it was obvious that they were all having a blast.

I agree!! They were the perfect opener and I love that they are getting exposure thanks to MMJ. You have to give props to the Jacket for picking an opener that they love and not a band that is "hot" (hee hee, Sass) right now and really deserves the slot. I love them for it.

I know the guys always rock it out hard, but it really seemed like they were giving something extra last nite, especially JJ. Jim was feeding off of the crowd like I have never seen. The hugest smile on his face the entire nite.

Also, forgot to mention. Had my bud Lou with me, the guy with the mohawk and handlebar stache, if you saw him (unfortunately just a weekend 'do). This was his very first MMJ show. His mind was blown to bits, and then those remaining bits melted and soaked deep into the earth.

Was wondering; anyone come away with a pic of Jim shaking his ass with Joe Lastie (PH Band drummer) during Dancefloors? Thats the lasting image I'll take from this one lol. That and the knew-found knowledge that the Jacket can totally obliterate a hot dog if simply placed next to Jim's amp (thanks sassbox). And knowing is half the battle.

Bahahaha, it was ridiculous. People were actually swooning. Might be the best crowd I've ever seen at a Jacket show, which would be a compliment. BTW, where did you disappear to when those girls came and stood in the puddle lol? The puke hit the ground and the next thing I know the cast of Glee is reaching over my should to grab Jim's boot.

It was honestly, the most fun show I've ever been to, mostly because of you guys, it just felt great to be with a bunch of people who absolutely fucking love this band, the 2000+ singing along helped, too!

And at first, I was to the right of the girls, then I went to high-five kydiddle over the girls' heads after Dancefloors, then she grabbed my hand and pulled me to her side for Move On Up, it felt so epic at the time! Everything felt epic!

awesome show!  just got home & am still kinda in a trance.  loved PHJB & mmj... i don't even have the words to describe.  great setlist, can't even say i "missed" any song that wasn't played.  they were just on from the start.  a definite highlight was dancefloors, for sure.

my favorite part was when my sister had her lightbulb moment.  it was beautiful!  she gets it & is now a fan.  and she too thinks jim is a fox....

also, it was really great meeting everyone.  thanks to jd & co for the excellent tent party, sass for the almost ride (we would've held ya back!) td for the delish beer, and mahgeeta & "pizza boy" for the drinks & pizza after.  very cool to hang out with you guys.  honestly, such a nice group of people  :)

edit: and i can't forget the awesome flag - thank you bluesky!

The crowd was great around me, lots of high fives were givin. I saw this girl texting on her phone, and I said "you really shouldn't text at a my morning jacket show" it was funny, but I think I made her feel like an asshole, which I wasn't trying to do. I saw her talking to her boyfriend a couple minutes after that and heard him say "well it's a pretty good point!" I think I pissed her off. Haha.

LOL. Reading all these posts, I keep remembering small things...KyDiddle yellling out "Snowy Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamble," that obliterated hot dog, the clear, liquid vomit incident.

For the record, I'd like to say that I called Dancefloors pretty early on. Yep. I'm clairvoyant.

Here's the closest I got to a pic of the aforementioned JJ booty shakin...

STEAM ENGINE! Have to concur with many here that Steam Engine was the highlight for me -- just had a big grin on my face for the end jam. Not sure how they have the energy for that intense of a setlist! I was fortunate to get Carl's setlist at the end of the night. Will post a picture soon. Highly Suspicious was indeed on the setlist but not played.

jrud! I think that's ALady's head, but I am the maniac filming on the right side of the screen and then I scream.

By the way..."Cast of Glee" is the best description EVAH.

I concur that the crowd was amazing, friendly and downright rocking. It pays to gather a large mass of people to fill the pit. All who are awesome, dancing and feeling it. Tom even smiled a few times, too.

Props to Sassbox for supplying drinks, beer and that mysterious hot dog.

bluesky, your flag was beautiful. Is there a picture of that up on here?

And I should have recorded longer!! This was fantastic:

Thanks again Brian and Rob for letting us travel in your crazy bagpipe company!!! Kydiddle, I still have the flag but no photo from the show...it might have to travel to another show with me?

Can't really add much more than was already said.  Words can't really describe how great they were.  Awe inspiring might be one.  Steam Engine was the highlight.  Wasn't sure what to expect from the crowd but they were fine.  Everyone around us was really into it.  There were 3 older guys behind us who were sort of new to the band.  After the show, I turned around and asked them how they liked it.  They just had these huge grins on their faces and one of them said "where are they playing next".   PHJB were great and it was nice to see them get a big reception from the crowd.   It sort of sucked that I couldn't meet up with anyone for the tailgate or the after party but there is always next time.

Quote Wasn't sure what to expect from the crowd but they were fine.

Yeah, I was a little worried about all the crowd talk on the boards but it was totally fine around me (pit, right).   There was one REALLY drunk guy who was gonna drop at any minute, and he was passed off along the crowd to the side.   And there were two guys that pushed right up to 2nd row 1/2 way through the show, right in front of us (we were 3 people deep).   I see my friend talking to them, fairly animated, back and forth, and I actually thought this could be fight time (although I had no idea what they were saying)... then 15 seconds later they both leave.   I was amazed.   It wasn't till after the show I said "sean what did you say to them?"  and he said the conversation was:
him: Dude, we've all been here for hours.
them: so what, it's GA
him:  Nobody here likes having you here so please leave
them:  it's my favorite band!
him:  It's everyone's favorite band.  Move along.

that was it!

If you guys are on the board (I doubt it) - thanks at least for leaving.

Yeah, there were a couple of really drunk guys in front of us.  They kept hanging on to each other the whole time but they were basically cool.  Basically just having a good time.  Coming out of the show, I always like to listen to people around me and what they thought of it.  Heard 2 guys talking, the one says "yeah they were good but it kind of sucked, they only played 2 hrs."  His friend says "yeah, and I hear they play 7 hour sets".  I WISH!!!

Here are my 3 favorite moments from Merriweather:

3.   Steam Engine - totally unexpected, not sure what the song was going to be from the instrumentation, then all of a sudden the sweet opening, YY's "So....", and.... bliss.   It was hot!   YY's arms were just dripping sweat and the steam was coming off him.... with the lights and the music.... perfect.

2.  Dancefloors - PHJB was lovin it - the drummer in the middle was a howl - great version, crowd was belting it out - WAY better than 3 covers to end a show.

1.  Kentucky Derby / Intro / OBH - Loved the beginning with the spotlight on the trumpeter.   The intro was as cool as everyone who'd seen it had said....but the highlight was when OBH kicked into gear and it was clear JJ was FIRED UP.   Just knew right then it was gonna be a great night.   When the first line came and the whole place roared "wakin up, feelin..." it was obvious we were part of something special.   The crowd was LOUD and way into it.    Listen to the taping and you can just feel the crowd explode there.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Curt, I am a writer for Merchantsofrock.com. We did a write up of the Merriweather Post MMJ show for our website, but we really want to add a nice picture to the mix.  Looking through the board, there are lots of good ones from the show.

Anyone have any interest in letting us use one or two photos of the show on our website.  We will of course give full credit, and link back to any sites/profiles you want.  We get a lot of traffic, and this is actually the first profile we have done on MMJ.

EIther PM me or write me at curt@merchantsofrock.com .

Dudes.

That was amazing.

I'm still in a fog of happiness.  Sigh.

Chronology:

So much love to Sass for devouring shrimp po'boys with me and rockin' the rail like the complete badass that she is.  I always have so much fun when we hang out; it's never, ever enough time.  I'll see you soon.

Ky, you are the bomb track.  I'm so glad we got some good hang time in, I feel like you are my sister in Jackethood.  And I suspect there are many, many GA pit tickets in your future.

Kenny76, you are about four times cooler than I am but I won't hold that against you.  So psyched to see you in a couple weeks!

jdbartender, thank you so much for setting up the tailgate!  You guys were doing it up right.  It was so helpful to be able to direct people to the White Tent.  You are the official MPP Social Director.  Gracias!

Trish/tdb and Bob, you are about the most charming couple I've ever met.  So good to meet you both and chat a bit with some folks who really "get it".  You two are the embodiment of good karma.

bluesky, I LOVED the flag - you are so talented!  It was great to talk to you for a bit too, I had lots more questions for you.  I hope we run into each other again down the road.

ynwa, great to meet you!  That's so awesome that you were able to convert your sister into a newly minted Jacketeer.  Well done!

Ruckus, so glad to finally meet you buddy!  Next time I'm out in your neck of the woods we'll have to get together for some good eats, since, well...the weekend was a bit of a crabcake fail   ;)

Yvon, always a treat to see you.  I didn't realize the Wilco contingent would be in full effect as well!  So exciting to run into Paul and Rockburn.  The world, she is a small place...

Fiddle, you are an absolute gem.  Thank you so much for hooking my buddy up with the ticket, he was beyond thrilled!  As soon as you hauled out that omnichord laser harp I knew you were a force to be reckoned with.  It was great hanging in the pit with you, your excitement was infectious!

Dodobird, the pipes after the show were beautiful...sent chills up my spine.  What a great idea.  You were rockin' it man!

aMC, thanks so much for the headband!  It looks fantastic.  You are a super talented dude!

GivenToFly, nice to meet you too, and congrats on the setlist!  Hope to see you again at a PJ or MMJ show.

j_rud, thank you for being such a rock in the pit.  So good to meet you and sorry for dancing so spazzily behind you  ;D  Oh - and credit where credit is due, I think Sass brought the beers back?  She's awesome like that  :)

As for the show...

I was really worried about the shorter set time due to the curfew, but I needn't have been.  They barreled through that set with such ferocity, I didn't feel like I missed a thing.

So many highlights, but of course Steam Engine...  :'(  Or at least I would have cried if I hadn't already sweated out all my tears   ;D

The energy was so good in that pit.  I can't recall the last time I was in such a stellar crowd.  Only a few blips, the aforementioned Glee clubbers (still can't stop laughing about the fact that they were dancing all up in the puke...with their sunglasses on?!  [oldladyrant] Were they even born when Corey Hart was on the radio? [/oldladyrant]  ;D) and OMG Drunk Jim Brewer who was much funnier than he was annoying.  jmk, your mohawk friend was awesome...shut Drunk Jim Brewer down real good.   ;D

PHJB were just fantastic.  They've been so impressive on this tour and you can just see them opening minds right in front of you.

And NO GLOWSTICKS!  Praise be.

Good times, you guys.

The badassery, it was rampant.

Love you all and see you again soon.  Bring on the second leg!

I feel like Ky and I were feeding off of each other's excitement! Which was probably unhealthy, we were both really excited to begin with  ;D

Still trying to cool off from Saturday!  An experience that will forever be scorched in my memory.  If they broke into War Begun, I would have melted.  This sums it up...

Company around us - amazing
Opener - amazing
Closer - amazing
And everything in between - amazing!

Good to meet/see you great folks.  Looking forward to the next time!

QuoteIt's so great to now put so many faces to the board names! Really a special show and so great to meet up and hang with you all!

I wish I got to meet you BlueSky.  You're flag was amazing!  I made it a point to wear all blue and yellow to match the flag but alas I was all over the place and was unable to come back over to y'all's party tent.  I had a great view of the flag from our corn hole game for sure. :)

It really is like a drug.   Most other bands I go into a post-concert burnout - not much interest in listening to their music for a bit.   But MMJ is still on near constant rotation, love the MPP boot, and trying to figure out how next to see them.

QuoteDudes.

So my aftershow adventures are titled "Where's ALADY?"

So much talk about meeting this cool cat - great person, etc, etc... coming back to the Sheraton.....

Then we get there and realize no bar at the Sheraton (side note:  WTF hotel does not have a lobby bar?)

No worries, we hear.  ALady is bringing beers.    The stories grow larger.   It's a great collection of microbrews.   It's a huge crate shipped in from Chicago.   Ice cold and wrapped in bubblewrap.   ALady will be our saviour.

The night reminded me of one of those teen movies where the main guys wanter around looking for the party and never finding it.   Like those movies, I ended up having a fun time, meeting some cool dudes and dudettes.   But, I was beginning to wonder if this ALady existed at all?!   And finally called it a night 1:30-ish....

I guess from her post she actually was there.... we just didn't cross paths!

Wow, Im still recovering from that show. My neck is still sore from rocking out so much. Voice took about a day to not sound scratchy from all the screaming. My abdomen is still sore, although Im not sure if thats from the show or moving furniture for 8 hours before the show.

I was about smack dab in the middle of the pavilion, and the crowd seemed great to me. None of the d-bags that other thread was started about, and the whole crowd seemed totally into the show. You can hear it on that bootleg too  :o. Assuming the mic for the boot was near the soundboard, Im sure the crowd only got louder the closer it got to the stage with all you other Jacket fiends. Since I didnt look at setlists for a week before the show, definitely got some surprises with Steam Engine, Dancefloors, Tonight IWTCWU, and WAWMan. Bummer to see Highly Suspicious was on the setlist and they ran out of time, but I cant complain because the rest of the show was so tight and nonstop.

As it turns out, I think the only rumor that was true about MPP was the curfew being at 11  ;D...Lots opened early, no cops/security to be seen, and it looked like people in the lawn still got a great view of the stage. MPP seemed a lot smaller than I expected, but I really liked the setup and it having a smaller pavilion than any amphitheater I can remember being at.

So whens summer tour start?!

Oh my Gosh -- where to begin  :D ???  I am still in a fog somewhere up in the clouds, but need to just thank everyone for such a magical day!  I want give you all a shout out -- so here goes:

-JD Bartender -- Major thanks to Jared, Jimbo, Scott, & Mark for setting up such an elaborate tailgate !  It was a feast with all the things that make a party great -- most of all the people!  And the antibacterial at the end was just an absolute hoot!

-Deathstick -- cannot thank you enough for picking up our poster for us and keeping it safe and sound through the whole show.  Thank you also for the tube --- as I believe I may have mangled it had it not been for that!   I also adore the fact that you signed up for the Forum in the parking lot!

-ALady ---- the woman, the myth, the LEGEND!  So happy to meet you in person and know the person who set up this awesome beer swap!  What a delightful person you are - I just wish we had more time together -- we were so bummed that we didnt get to see you after the show!  Magh33ta speaks the truth ! I was pretty pathetic waiting there on the curb for you guys and I kept swearing -- A Lady will be here, A Lady will be here!  Finally hijacking a Domino's pizza man seemed to be more of a priority so we had to caravan elsewhere since indeed there was NO HOTEL BAR!  What???

Sassbox - what can I say other than you are one of my idols!  I loved the stories you related about BBQ with the boys and the PH show!  You are truly a hard core fan, and I am so happy you have had such good luck with this band!  You have truly inspired us to get our butts to JazzFest next year!  And I will pack the Wellies!

-KyDiddle -- you crack me up girl!  I will never be able to hear Muse again without thinking "B-"  hahah.  I totally wished we got to hang out longer, and am motivated to be in the pit for sure next time around!  We missed all our buddies all the way back there in row U.

-Kevin76 -- great to meet the person who made the road trip down and stayed in Dayton NJ.  I was so curious about who that person was!  You seem like a super sweet person and it was awesome to chat with you.

--BlueSky -- so psyched to meet you and Sarah -- you ladies were such a pleasure and so much fun to hang with.  Of course, the flag's beauty is obvious, but the care you took to make something like that for us to enjoy speaks volumes!  I am so happy that you live so close and look forward to seeing you ladies soon!  I remembered something after I met you that didn't resonate at the time -- but I think you may have gone to that MMJ photo show in the Bowery last year?  Bob and I were there too!  Wish we would have known ya then, but glad we know you now.

--YNWA & sis --- Jersey in the house!!!  Love it!!!!  Will never forget our bonding experience in the woods -- nuff said about that!  Glad you and your sis enjoyed the Jersey Beer!  We will surely get together for shows in the future!

--Magh33ta & Sean (riles---hehee) -- You guys were so great and I SWEAR a Lady was going to be there -- no lie.  Thanks for your patience and tell the Kentucky Derby winner thank you for the beer & Dominos - that was super cool and fun!  Hope you guys will remember all of my paranoid thoughts about child safety and implement them in your daily life :)  And I have 1 word for you:  MAOZ!!

--FiddleCastro -- So much fun hanging with you and enjoying pizza on the River Walk.  So encouraged to see a young man like yourself appreciating some good music!!!  You are wise beyond your years to be sure!  I think we will both be at the Aug 24 Tom Petty show, so we will be sure to see you then.  Of course, it would be impossible to recreate the Merriweather scene -- but we wiill do our best !

--Dodobird & Mike --Thank you so much for your fantastic entertainment!  The fact that you  brought bagpipes to the tailgate legitimized it to my irish cop father (who was watching our daughter for the night)-- who still seems mystified by my obsession with this bad.  I guess he figured if a guy from breezy point playing the pipes is there, it can't be all bad!  That was a real treat!

--Maureen from Springfield --- Happy Birthday to you this year and have a wonderful time on your trip to Cali!  1984 Unforgettable Fire trumps Rick Springfield!  Hope to see you soon!

Bob and I just  enjoyed meeting all of you and others so much, and realize what a special day this was!  We have been going to shows for years and years (more than we care to count) and this will stand out in our memory as one of the all time best! But next time --- THE PIT for sure!!!!

It was such a great experience to meet so many people who have this shared love for the music that this unbelievable band is putting out there!  It was so great to be with people who get it in almost the same way that we do!  I got the feeling of being a member of our own little tribe and it was such a profound feeling! I also hope to meet more of you next time......A Mighty Caporal, Murph, Ruckus, Capt Headdy and others who I didn't get to see!

Best Wishes to you all and see you hopefully sooner rather than later!

OK, so now that i;ve come down a little from Saturday just want to give my 2 cents of how great MPP was.

First, the weekend started friday and had some friends over. They were also going to the show. My friends wife works at the Museum of American History in DC> She said "guess who i'm giving a tour to at 1030am on Saturday. My Morning Jacket!!!!!" Wtf!!!??? So yes, shegave everyone except Patrick the tour. I gave her a copy of my record Store Day 10' from last year to get signed. Done! She said they were really nice dudes and total music nerds. They gave her 2 laminates for MPP!

This was my wifes 1st Jacket show. The day started great, nice warm weather, bought a shade tent for the lot, then dropped the kids off at the sitters.

My wife wanted some Chik-Fil-a for lunch and randomly lucked upon one near MPP. I know it seems silly, but chik-fil-a is bomb.

Easily rolled right on in to the lot at 4pm, and there was only a small handfull of peeps. Not 1 minute later, our friends from Richmond puleld up right next to us.

Partied in the lot, strolled around and saw that we were definately the oldest that we could see in the lot. We're all in our mid 30's. But still nice chill crowd.

Strolled in, went straight to the merch table. Kind of disappointed in the poster and shirts imo, but oh well dont really care. Played a little pinball at the arcade.

When PHJB came up we went to the Pit. sounded great and the energy from the crowd could already be felt. My buddy and i said this was going to be  a good one.

Left to get a beer then got back to the pit to fiond it filled very quickly and we were now center straight back on the wall almost.

Aaaah the show! What can i say that hasnt been said. Yes short-ish, but totally rockin and sweet!!! So to the cute blonde behind me that i kept stepping on your toes.  Carried Away was sooo good! Steam Engine, what!! Smokin>Run Thru killed. Dancefloors with PHJB!!! Come on!!!

My buddy whose wife gave the band the tour is a house DJ, and it was his 1st show. He LOVED it, rocked out, and is now hooked.

Great great great great show. And no issues with the crowd. Everyone around us was rocking, yes you too cute blonde girl, NO cops in the lot, no traffic. Great time all around.

Thank you My Morning Jacket!

Trish, it was great to meet you and Bob this weekend too!

Don't forget, Mark and I are going to be in Camden for Phish on 6/25. You and Bob should try to make you're way down.  Bob seemed to be digging some of the tunes I was playing out my car.   And the tent, grill, and all of the other supplies are coming to!  :D - I know, I get way too into this!  ;D

so, i got home from work last night, got kitted out in my pjs & eased back in my recliner to listen to the bootleg of this show...  it blew my mind all over again! i was up outta my chair, ear to ear smile on my face & dancing!

this band just makes me so happy...

it really was a special event & i'm loving reading everyone's after-thoughts.  as others have said - the crowd was very into it & the band just fed off all our good vibes.  apart from the young couple in front of me just to the left - everyone was dancing, hands in the air & singing along.  mesmerized chaos in all it's splendor & glory.

one of my favorite moments was when my sister said (about jim), "you believe him. everything he says." i just smiled & said, "yes. yes you do.".

there were so many musical highlights, the whole fucking show really.  im still on a high  ;) :)

Love it!   He really is an amazing guy.   Someone else said that when JJ came over to the side of the stage everyone was grabbing at him like he was Jesus.     That was pretty accurate (not that I know what Jesus was like), but he had such a magnetic pull that when you are only 5 ft away from him you can physically feel it.   Not like in a fake ooohh celebrity ("look it's Jennifer Aniston!") kind of way but a much deeper power.

QuoteOK, so now that i;ve come down a little from Saturday just want to give my 2 cents of how great MPP was.

Great story.  Shit, my buddy and I were going to go to the American History Museum on Saturday before the show to see the Apollo Theater exhibit but decided to go on Sunday instead.  Would have been great to run into them.  The guys must have really enjoyed the exhibit.  I know I did.

Yeah from what my friend said they were geeking out over everything. They got the private tour so they saw a lot of stuff not on display. Dizzy Gillespies trumpet, Stratavarious violins, and she got a pic of them looking at Afrika Bambaata's 808 drum machine.

Awe....I'm sorry we didn't meet. So sweet that you dressed to go with the flag. I will bring the flag with me to future shows.

I'll be at Newport, just got tickets for myself and not sure what I will be doing about the rest. I just couldn't resist after Saturday to see Jim and with so many people he has played with before it will be an Amazing weekend! Not sure if I will do Tom Petty, tickets are pretty pricy to be close. They just need to play more so we can all get together and meet! Hope you had a great show, I'm sure you did!!!!

I'm looking forward to it! I will sing loud and proud at the Tom Petty show! Even if I am stuck in section 4 million or so.

Hey BlueSky  --- The show at the Izod Center on August 24th.  I sure hope you can make it!

soooooo very tempting.

This show sounds ridiculous...from beginning to end...sorry to miss it.  Listening to it for first time off archive and you can tell Jim is just feelin' it.

Kim from NY, we met outside Preservation Hall and I gave you my email...send pix - so awesome to meet you.

Went for a bike ride last night, bout 8pm so right around sunset and threw on this show. Pretty much perfect timing of day, song selection/order, and all the uphills, downhills and stuff.

Started with Steam Engine - Smokin > Run Thru Reprise > Touch Me Twice - Anytime.

Was as great as I remember it, but I didnt recall all of the clapping during songs. I fucking HATE HATE HATE the clap. Either I was too drunk or too in the zone to notice during the show I guess, or both, or maybe it was just the section around the recording. Man, I cant stand the clapping, especially when bands dont stir it up.

really?  i love the clapping!  especially the un-prompted clapping.  to me it means the crowd is just totally charged up.  the clapping between songs is the crowd expressing their sheer joy & anticipation.  it's quiet, you don't know what's coming next but you are so effing psyched & you don't know what do with yourself but you're going berzerk in your brain so.... you clap.  others who are feeling the same way join in & it just becomes pure energy.  imagine being the band & hearing that sound come at you up there on the stage.  would that not give you a charge as well?

saying that, yes, in certain contexts the clapping can be annoying.  but, for the most part, i'm all for it.  and guilty of the crime.  i'm a clapper & i just can't help it.  guess this means we probably should not hang at a show  ;D

i love that recording & listen to it frequently.  brings back so many good memories.  and how insanely good was move on up  :D  what a great night!
