I was at the Levon Helm Outside Lands show last night. Yim came out and sang "It Makes No Difference" and a verse of both "The Weight" and "I Shall Be Released". The whole show was phenomenal but the shows with Yim were a whole other level. You could tell he was as excited to be there as anyone in the audience.

That is awesome. Please share any video or audio you have. Yim always makes great moments even greater.
RAD!
I saw Jimmy Cliff @ the Mezzanine last night but I never would have guessed that JJ would make an appearance with Levon Helm - I probably would have went just for that, HA. Jimmy Cliff was amazing though :)
surely someone felt the awesomeness of yim on stage with levon and picked up their phone/recorder

Levon Helm generally invites a special guest to play "The Weight" with him and his band. It's cool, though, that he invited JJ.

gave me the chills watching these!
It's a shame that Levon lost his voice to cancer. I was watching the Last Waltz and jesus he could sing. I wish I was there.

I'm just glad he's still around. Having discovered The Last Waltz long after Rick Danko passed away was shameful on my part. That being said, it's nice to see YY do "It Makes No Difference" with Levon. One of my absolute favorite songs of all time.
SOOOOO..this year i've seen Patterson and Cooley AND Jim James sing that song w/Levon. What a great year.
Jim singing w/Levon definitely just took the place of the Last Waltz version as my favorite version of this song.
Wow....WOW
AGH! I cannot believe I missed this, and I wasn't even doing anything that night but resting up for yesterday. Ah well, yesterday was great, and I'm about to head that way for another fun afternoon. Social D should be good...
/kicking myself/
I have begun typing many entries on this topic. Some thrilling, some coy. Some witty and clever, some heart warming. I keep erasing them and starting over. The truth is, I don't have anything to say about this except, "WOW!" This is a dream come true. This is truly a dream...that wound up coming to fruition.
truly truly awesome
I want it noted FOR THE RECORD, that I sent Bbill a private message telling him to go this!!!!
Also, the guy from the Mother Hips (acoustic MH show) was tweeting all night about hanging out w/Jim and Phil Lesh on the side of the stage.
I love technology sometimes. The times when I don't hate it....
What venue was this? It wasn't part of Outside Lands technically was it?
The Independent, on Divisadero st. It wasn't part of the Outside Lands Golden Gate Park festival because it was at a different venue and tickets were totally not associated but it was part of the weekend festivities as there was a plethora of shows going on all over the city.
THANK YOU for the other videos... WOW!!!!

Tickets were totally associated because when they went on sale, only holders of Outside Lands tickets were able to purchase them at first. The show sold out quick. The Independent is a tiny venue.
Wow!!!!! Those were awesome.
*sigh* beautiful.

Thanks! I really just wanted to clarify that this was the night before and not the Levon Helm Band Festival set. Plus the name of the venue helps me. Gotta keep that spreadsheet up to date! ;)
