If anyone is looking for hotels for that night, I just got the 4-star Hyatt Regency @ Penns Landing for $70.00 through Priceline!! 8-)
I was hoping for the Hyatt, since it's real close to the Riverstage, but never thought a $70.00 bid would get it done. It's $197.00 on Hyatt's site.
Booze will be flowing now that there's no driving after the show! ;)
very cool, gonna try that. driving down from nyc for the philly show but first it is off to newport tomorrow for jim saturday at the folk fest!
:D ;D :D
1 month away! :D I was randomly flipping through the channels during that eternal Phils game & came across I'm Not There. Right in time for Jim's rendition of Going to Alcapulco. Gotta say the anticipation factor shot through the roof!!! Starting to get really pumped :)
I guess at some point we have to come up with a meeting place before the show. I think the Khyber was mentioned as a possible place.
I was at the venue last night. Small and if you want a seat would get there early. Very close to the band. If you have will call need to get them on the river next to the fairy.

me and my cousin are going to the show, he lives right across the street from the abbaye, so that's cool.
Anywhere sounds good to me + 1. STOKED!!!
A friend, my wife, and I will be at the Philly show. We may not make the pre-show get-together as the wife and I will be coming from Canandaigua, but look forward to meeting some of you.

We should do the abbaye, it's a cool bar. The foods good too.

So there are seats at this place? Any more info on that? Is it GA right up against the stage a la Festival Pier? Or is it seated right up front? Or are the seats just further back? I want to be right up front and I do not want to be seated.

Cannot wait. The 08 Festival Pier show was my all-time favorite show.
I'll be the one yelling "YEEEEEEEESSSSS" after the boys start Master Plan. :D
Can any Philly folks give some info about the venue? Best place to park? All that jazz.

No seats. Front rail should be a short distance from the actual stage, like festival pier.
Parking all along Columbus Blvd.
I have a pair of tickets for this show that I can't use if anyone is interested...
Selling them for face. No extra ticket fees. I'll send them via USPS.

it's on 3rd and fairmount.
Abbaye? Really? Thats a good 15-20 minute walk to the venue if I'm thinking of the right place.
The Abbaye is a bit of a walk, but a GREAT bar and a perfect place for a pre-show hang. Food is great, they got a beer sponsor and DJs...sounds pretty rad to me. Add in that its gonna be in the low 80's and sunny and the walk to/from isn't a big deal or a $5 cab ride.
;D
I'll be there +3.
Can't wait - haven't seen them since '06 - much too long!

Well that just sucks :( I was hyped about the short walking distance from the Khyber to the venue. I'm bringing roughly 4 family members to their 1st Jacket show & I'm not sure they'll be down for a 20 min walk to (& back to get cars) from the show.
We're tossing the idea around of going to Mac's Tavern in Olde City before the show. There are several of us who are HUGE "It's Always Sunny in Philly" fans so it would be pretty sweet to party it up before the show at a bar that's owned by a few of the cast members. Just an idea we had

Apparently they've fixed up the joint a bit since Skinner's. Removed the gross booths & spruced things up a bit. There have even been some random sightings of Mac & Sweet Dee!

Ants in my pants waiting for this show...weather is supposed to be spectacular as well.
Little help please. Can anyone tell me if there is a tailgate lot before the show or is it different than last year? Otherwise - I'll be at the bar with the rest of you.
Thanks in advance.

Ahhahhahahahaha!! last minute addition here, i just bought tickets right now! Unfortunately my grandmother passed away this week and I had to buy plane tickets to Philly. Right after I did it occurred to me that I would still be there while MMJ was in town!! and on my anniversary! So fate brings an unexpected show.. It seems like it was meant to be, it will be a nice lift after a hard week, just sorry my bud AXG/monkeyboy won't be there, we were bummed to miss out on Holyoke this week (give it up for AXG who else do you know who rocked out so hard they broke a bone at a show!) Bring on MMJ on the water, Honest Man alone in VT was worth the price of admission!! :D
special request for my sad occasion.. i know it won't happen but i'd love to hear All Things must Pass :'(
i may have a ticket i need to get rid of :(

Am I missing anyone? Are some folks going to the Abbaye & Some to MAC's tavern?
Well, our current plan is to drive to to the Columbus Ave lot & leave our cars there. Then we're gonna trek to Abbaye & throw down there for a few hours for the pre-show party. Then cruise back towards the venue & hit up Mac's for a bit. That should have us in the proper frame of mind for some face melting goodness :D

Add me!! Don't know which spot I'll go to though. Regardless I know the boys will tear it up!
Alright, you are in!!!!! Not sure which spot we are going to hit up yet - but we will be at the Hyatt for a plotting session if anyone else wants to come by. PM me and I will give you my cell.
Dreaming about this!!
QuoteAhhahhahahahaha!! last minute addition here, i just bought tickets right now! :D
special request for my sad occasion.. i know it won't happen but i'd love to hear All Things must Pass :'(
So sorry for your loss, but also happy for the bright side of this!
Hope we will meet you in Philly since we missed you in VT!!
Safe travels.

Cool! I just remembered google maps has walking directions. Says 26 Minutes if it's from Penn's Landing.
Not sure if we'll be at the pre-show gathering, but definitely will be at the show. Look an Asian guy with a shaved head.

I hope to be checked in by 3:00 - 3:30,and have my +3 there by 4:00. I'll call or text when I get there and we can get the plotting/pre-preshow session going. ;)
With such a big forum turnout and it being the last show of the summer leg, I'm thinking this is going to be one helluva good time!
I'm sure this show will be the fix we'll need to last us til T5! 8-)

Thanks for all the kind thoughts! It is an odd feeling to be depressed and excited about the same weekend but I have to admit I'm psyched for an unexpected show someplace I would probably never have gone - and the Philly venue sounds pretty sweet! Don't think I can make the pre party but would be great to meet some forum folks, I will look for you on the rail! think we must have been right next to in VT, hope to see ya there!
Sorry for your loss jahmazed. I think you will be feeling the love on Sunday though. Not sure if I can make any of the pre-show meet ups though. Promised that I would meet some friends (unfortunately non-Jacketheads) midtown for a few beers. I may head over to the Abbaye if time permits. Am going to try and get down front for the show. My buddy tends to stay towards the back. He is not into the whole down front thing. I will be wearing my green MMJ "bear and bats" shirt. CAN"T WAIT!!!! ;D ;D

That's awesome! Well, as my relatives like to say, I'm more white than I am Asian. But who cares at the end of the day; it just means I get to enjoy a lot more things in life.
Looking forward to tomorrow's show in Canandaigua and the Philly show - the latter which should be epic.
Shouldn't we have heard about a live stream by now?
Please let the Philly show not be the one show they don't play Steam Engine. Also am very interested in the Rollin' Back intro opener, so hope we get that. Also ITIGTH would be a lovely treat. Golly Gee I am straight-up pumped for Sunday!!!
Please update me on the list to:
jahmazed + my lovely wife on our anniversary + axg in spirit!
Thanks, I'll stop hogging this thread now i have to get on a plane, see ya all there :D
QuoteShouldn't we have heard about a live stream by now?
I have heard nothing about it. And there is nothing on the XPN website. They would be the ones doing the broadcast. I'm suprised they are not doing one. They did the Philly MOF show and the Festival Pier show from 08.

It's beautiful. Heard it in Jersey.

I know I've put on a couples of pounds lately, but didn't think there was enough for two of me. ;)
Seriously, love that this list is growing, and growing and.....
Can't wait to meet our fellow fanatics at Abbaye...planning to get there by 4ish so we can be at the venue at 6:30pm when the gates open...spending time with fellow fans just makes this more special. Hope they have gas left in their tank after the last few nights. The get a break after phiily, so I 'm expecting nothing to be left in their tanks after blowing us into the abyss........we will be rocking hard since this will be the official end of the summer tour.......giving us time to rest up for the five at T-5......safe travels everyone........it will be a epic night..,,
Bobby b(aka tdb810's other half)
Here I am, 1:30 in the morning unable to sleep due to pure excitment for tomorrow. Feels like the night before xmas as a kid. My Jacketitus is flaring up insanely!!! :D Thank god I'll receive a generous dose of Preparation-MMJ in mere hours! Time can't pass quick enough :)

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Like I said, I'm the Chinese guy with the shaved head, wearing the MMJ owl T-shirt.
Anyone want to guess the opener?
I'm hoping for a knock our socks off right out the gate Steam Engine or Dancefloors.

Excellent! NOt sure what I am wearing yet - you know I am a girl after all. But my hubby (Bob) will be wearing his LUCKY Lite beer hat!
Also - I will be wearing a long OWL necklace
Do you guys think this will sell out? How much does the venue hold? I am almost sure I'm driving from Baltimore this afternoon to see the show. I saw the Merriweather show this past May and it was incredible.

oh, t'would be excellent to get steam engine as the opener... dreamy ideas swirling in my head about this show. i think they are gonna treat us very kindly :)
since lil sis couldn't pull this one off :'( i'll be able to head down earlier & get over to the abbaye for the pre-party (which looks awesome). looking forward to meeting & hanging out with so many of you.
fyi: will call window opens @ 4pm. gates open @ 6:30pm. and the weather forecast looks absoultely perfect.

I should be getting to the Abbaye around 3:00 or 3:30. I'll be wearing a grey Flipadelphia shirt (Flip, Flip, Flipadelphia!!) & a navy blue Phillies hat. I'll initially be there with my wife & brother in law, but our numbers will grow as the day wears on. Can't wait to throw down with you guys [smiley=beer.gif]

Hanging out at the Hyatt Regency with TDB and her hubby, Fiddle is on his way and we're looking out the window at the venue. Anyone in the area hit us up!
8 of us at the Hyatt at penns landing.......may not make it to Abayye.......don't want to risk missing gates opening

Honest Man. Honest Man. Holy freaking shit, Honest Man. I thought the first 2 nights of the residency might be a little subdued, but if this is any indication, we're in for some balls out blues at Terminal 5.
Just got home.
got Honest Man!! -- kind of a rarity ... oh and Easy Mornin Rebel!!
Much thanks to tdb810 + hubby, ynwa and fiddle.. Kenny, Headhunter. It was great to meet you guys. I had such a great time.
The band was really in the groove. My wife got facebooked by a friend who saw the band for the first time tonight and was absolutely blown away.
I'm too tired for a coherent review. My ears are ringing and I've got to pound a few more beers!
I have to get up for work in 5 hours and drive right back down to Columbus Blvd (I work right down the street from tonights venue), but there's no way I can fall asleep right now. Not gonna happen. Ass is gonna be dragging tomorrow...
Honest man was ridiculous. During wordless chorus, Jim channeled his inner Randy Watson and gave quite a show. He was the most animated I have ever seen him he looked like he had a great time. He even donned the donkey head I can't even remember for what song. A little sad they only played the end of lay low(my favorite), but the rest of the night was out of control. Can't wait to hear the total run thru at T5. My favorite show next to radio city I have ever attended.

Jim danced his ass off, he looked like he was having a blast. I think its the cape. He gets out of control when the cape comes out. At first I didnt like how the mics were set so far back on the stage, but I was front row, dead center, right under Jim whenever he came out. During Run Thru when he stood there bowed he looked like a giant because of how high the stage was. One of the coolest moments I've ever had at a Jacket show. I wanted to take a picture but there was no way I was moving. I just stood there with my arms up and screamed like a lunatic.
Let me elaborate on my earlier thoughts.
Awesome show. Me and my bud Lou seem to always get the same spots, a couple feet right of center and 1 person away from the stage. Awesome. Jim HOVERED over us.
Really great "surprises" in Honest Man, Easy Morning Rebel, It Beats 4 U, etc.
The only disappointing part of the nite (apart from hitting 2 deer simultaneously on the way home) was looking at the gorgeous poster I bought, which is easily my favorite owned one of theirs, and seeing the words on the side, "It's the art of feeling naked in your clothes." Where To Begin would have been such the cherry on top.
Boy... that was fun.

Sweet jeebiss I want this poster too!!!

I'm SO GLAD you guys had such a blast!! Jim is definitely daaaangerous when that cape comes out :-X He did backward tumbles and crazy moves in Pitt the other night, and I MEANT to make a mention of it when we met him, but I became busy trying to figure out which way was up and which way was down at that point... bit gun-shy....
But congrats on your setlist and the whole show in general! Cheers to the best Mahgeetah! [smiley=beer.gif]
Wish I coulda afforded the hike out to Philly for the night, but a bit broke after roadtrippin!
I got Bo to sign my Little Tikes toy piano from when I was a young child, my first instrument. :)

The view
Fantastic freakin' show last night. Loved the Rollin' Back intro and wouldn't have minded if they drew that out more; 'twas quite beautiful. The highlight for me might have been Honest Man. They absolutely killed the extended bluesy jam into Jim scream into blistering solo. Go to experience Steam Engine for the first time and I nearly cried--beautiful and intense.
I would have to say the only "complaint" I can muster up is I thought they could/would have played for at least another 30 minutes or so. They came on at about 8:30 and it was over by 10:30. When OBH started I figured that was the end and was a little saddened. Really hoped for Dancefloors but hey ya can't get every dang song. An amazing show and I left wanting more and that's kind of the point.
Anyone know if there were any tapers in attendance?
Hi, I am new here but I met a few of you last night through my good friend Eric. I just wanted to say it was a pleasure, thanks for your preshow hospitality and I can't wait for the shows in NYC. It was so nice to finally meet and rock out with other fans!
As far as the show goes - what can I say?? They blew me away as always. And I think they literally blew my ears away - they're still ringing! I have a bunch of pictures that I took, once I figure out how to use this forum I'll post them. MMJ are the most exciting live band around these days imho!! This smiley would seem appropriate right about now...
[smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]
Ears are still ringing. Face is still recovering from the melting. Throat needs some cough drops.I've waited forever to get Honest Man and it was worth the wait. Blew my mind. Easy Morning Rebel and Steam Engine were unreal. Met Tommy and Carl. No words can describe how great the show was. Time to gear up for Terminal 5. :D

OHHHHHHHH NICE POSTERRRRR!!!!!! NICE SETLISSSSTTT!!! :D
GREAT night!
thanks to tdb & 8bobbyb for sharing their room & providing a nice spread for the pre-party. we planned on heading over to the abayye but by the time the last of us trickled in, gates were opening soon so, it just didn't work out.
we got right up to the stage (no barrier/rail!) - slightly right of center. it was a really good vantage point. all of my other shows i've been far right and didn't really get a great view of carl. he sure is a lot of fun to watch. excellent facial expressions! tommy looked like such a badass, kinda mesmerizing to watch. bo looked like he was having a lot of fun up there & boy does he make those keys dance! jim was a crazed man, kicking out & doing all these fancy saches & funky dance maneuvers. and when he came out to the front of the stage, he was RIGHT THERE, smiling down at us (pics to come later). and yes, he did don the donkey head!!! the one & only drawback was that i was right behind one of the monitors which almost completely blocked my view of patrick. so i didn't get to really see him doing his thing.
they sounded so so so good. phenominal set! i truly do feel quite spoiled. probably the best of my recent shows (sorry sis). highlights for me were honest man (they rocked the fuck out on this), easy morning rebel :o, golden (i just really love this song), mahgeetah (i concur that it was the best ever!!!) & touch me part 1 (never heard this live before). steam engine was also the best ever, imho (swoon).
after the show, we waited in the lot by the tour buses & after a little while, 3 ladies came out of one of the buses & one headed over to us & started talking. she was super nice & was like "wow, you guys have been waiting here for a while, & did you like the show, blah, blah, blah..." and then a few minutes into the conversation, we come to find out she's patrick's wife! she was such a cool lady & thanked us for coming out. awesome moment! then, a little while later, carl walked by w/ his luggage & tdb called out out "snooowwwyyyy braaaamble!" & he turned & looked over w/ a sly grin on his face. hahaha, so awesome! he chatted to some other folks for a little while & then signed our posters (posters is very, very cool for this show). a little after that, bo walked by w/ his luggage & he also stoped & talked to folks for a bit & then signed autographs. i got an excellent picture of him signing fiddle's 1st keyboard, after he played it a little!!! he signed all of our posters as well. so we waited, and waited, and waited a little more for tommy, patrick & jim to make their way over. but, after a little scouting by 8bobbyb, it appeared that the guys were having a little post show party & we figured it might be quite some time before they headed over to the bus. sadly, we decided to call it a night & all headed off in our separate ways.
the 2 hr drive home went by in a flash & when my alarm went off at 5:50 this morning, i had no trouble getting out of bed. i even got to work with time to relax a few minutes & get myself situated, even though i stopped for coffee on my way in ;)
fantastic night. hung out with some wonderful people. met some new faces & honestly, every single person i have had the pleasure of meeting & hanging out with has been so nice & kind & FUN! al different walks of life but everyone is just so down to earth & excited that the other person loves this band too.
cooljane - we were rockin out right next to each other. i saw the pics you got & i want them!!!! check your PM.
I'd love to see an image of the full poster.
Anyone?
AWESOME STORY YNWA!!!!! It gives me all the goosebumps right back!! (Or maybe it just added more to the ones that've permanently taken up residence on my epidermis hahah)
I can't wait to see this thing Mr. Fiddle had signed! Hahah it sounds pretty gnarly!!
Sweet you got to meet Patrick's wife too, very cool!! Great snowy bramble shout too heh 8-) Sounds like lots of fun fan-friends (say it 3 times fast!) were there to rock out together too! ;D
And man you just can't go wrong when the next day is smooth sailing! It's like the icing on the cake.......
Glad everyone killed it in Philly!! Brotherly & Sisterly love comin on strong!! Thanks for the sweet reviews!! [smiley=laugh.gif]
The show was fantastic last night. Not much to add in terms of the setlist and the band's performance. I guess the only disappointment is that the show was only 2 hours long. I thought they would have gone longer, given that this was the last show of the summer tour. Nonetheless, SE, Honest Man, and Rebel were great additions.
And it was great meeting many of you last night. Sorry that we didn't make the pre-show parties, but it was awesome to hang out with other Jacket fans. My wife had a blast as well. Now if anyone can get us T5 tickets, we'll find a way to come down. :)
I wish could post pics, but I left the camera cable at home and I'm sitting at the Toronto airport right now. Fortunately, we have a lay over in Ottawa for 3 hours, so I'll run home and grab the cable. Time permitting, I'll try to put some pics up before we head overseas.
I hope everyone has a great end to the summer.
Just getting home after one of the best days/nights of the year.
Show was simply spectacular as was the whole vibe of the night.
I'll let all the others describe it. Just wanted to reach out to some special people who helped make the night a great life moment.
I just want to send out a quick thanks to all of the wonderful people Ms. Headhunter and I met and hung out with. So many of you helped to make last night a great life moment.
Big thanks to Jersey Dan for hosting a very cool party at the Abbaye Tavern. Great people were enjoying the $3 beers and good DJ music.
Big thanks to Eric M for the Priceline tip on the Hyatt, the hanging before during and after the show and especially the cold water at the end of the night. The music talk on Bruce, Genesis MMJ and everything else added to a very easy connection and thanks for taking care of my wife (who preferred to sit) while I grooved to the show at Stage Right.
To Mr & Mrs. TBD- for the pre-party hang out, beer, munchies and all around great time the whole night. Hang out at the buses for the band post show and talking with Patrick's wife and Bo and Carl-- made me/us feel quite a few years younger. You guys know how to have fun. Just when I thought I was getting too old to be a groupie, you guys provided great instructions ....
Deathstick for poster #1 and for taking good care of my Poster #4 all night long and the fun times by the bus waiting to complete the singed posters. Hope the drive back wasn't too painful.
To Mr & Mrs. Northern neighbor, a wonderful happy couple from north of the border who had big smiles on all night. Sorry if I stepped on your feet while dancing (espec at OBH)
Fiddle, great signing on that mini-keyboard by Bo--he seemed to be thrilled to sign it for you and you were obviously in all your glory.
YNWA, from beginning to the late hours of the night and pre-drive home, the conversations, smiles and shared experience added to a great night.
Lil Sis, Fleabag, cooljane, 8bobbyb, and other great folks who's names escape me in the afterglow of such a great night for the smiles, comraderie and dancing at front right of the stage
And BIG BIG thanks to Bluesky for introducing us to so many cool people and for being so friendly and making us feel like we've been long time friends. In the 2 shows we've seen in the last 2 months we've been a combined total of 3 feet from the stage and we can't wait to see you and all the other forum members again at the 5 at T5. We all enjoy the shows in our own way but we all really really enjoy the shows. Great to share such a wonderful show with such great people!!
(sorry for the long-winded blabbering but we had so much fun!)

I wasn't there but I was certainly there in spirit! ;)
8th show for me and it was a good one. They always bring something special to Philly. The city has been a long time supporter and they give the love right back. Sorry that I didn't hit the pre-show. Sounds like everyone had a good time. How was the DJ at the Abbaye?? Every time I see them I always seem to focus on Jim; but this time I decided to watch Patrick. What a fucking powerhouse he is. AWESOME!! Though I have to admit, Jim is hard to ignore!! We were standing off to the side of the stage for the most part. Crowd by us were pretty cool for the most part. Only bummer were a bunch of immature "fratboy" types and their girlfriends who were basically just plain assholes the whole night. Could tell they were pissing a lot of people off. My friend turned to them during Golden and said "shut the fuck up please, I wanna hear Golden not you". Hopefully, the T5 shows are going to be more of the "fans" and less if the "douchebags".

Just a fucking amazing show!! :D Everyone one in our group had a complete blast! We brought 3 Jacket vrigins with us & every single one of them had their heads blown clean off. All of them said the same thing as all 1st timers do, "OK, now I REALLY get it!". I'll never get tired of hearing that 8-)
Had a great time at the Abbaye & then at Mac's Tavern. Super cool to meet Ghosts on TV & Longdong (& several forum "lurkers") :) Too bad we didn't get to see you guys at the show but I'm sure you were rocking as hard as we were.
The boys were pure electric last night. :D They came out raging & didn't let up. Thankfully they tossed a few slow gems in there or I might not have survived ;D Jim was a friggin madman!! He threw so much into the show & looked like he was having a fucking blast! The boys just kept feeding off each other (& the crowd) & driving the energy level higher & higher. Just WOW is all I can say.
My highlights would definitely be Honest Man & Steam Engine. Mrs. Peafunk was standing next to me during Honest Man & was floored. She's never been a huge Honest Man fan but is forever changed now. The boys just completely tore that song apart! FINALLY got my Steam Engine that I've been waiting so long hear. I was in complete bliss 8-)
Just a great night with great peeps. Can't wait till T5!!

Love it Fiddle! ;D Nicely scored.
Phenomenal show last night just unreal. Does anyone happen to know if it was recorded at all. I saw a mic stand in the crowd, but wasn't sure if it was for the venue, xpn, or an audience recording.
Thanks for the list!!
Honest Man...wowsa....

Oh my goodness Little Tikes!!! That is phenomenal!! Thanks for the pic post!! Lucky duck!! [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]
This was SUCH an awesome show. Thanks to everyone for making it a wonderful night (Liz, Fiddle, Kenny, Ghostess (wonderful to finally meet you!), Laura, Val, Ant, and everyone else who hung out). A special shoutout to Trish and Bob for throwing a wonderful pre-party spread in their room. You guys are some of the kindest, most wonderful people. I am always moved by the dear folks who come together for these shows. If only the whole world could be as open and sincere as the MMJ fans...
With that said, if there are any lurkers reading this... especially NEW GUY we met in the parking lot, LAURA, and the wonderful COUPLE FROM LONG ISLAND please check in on the board so we can keep in touch. I hope to see you all at T5. Can't wait.
As for the show, Jim was on fire, as were all the guys. Honest Man was perfect, Steam Engine blew me away as usual. Nice to meet Bo & Carl (who rocks and I'm so glad he didn't fall down during his jamming like he did at Merriweather...ha, Val). Patrick's wife was a sweetheart. P.S. Bo also said they had planned to do a TWO NIGHT show at Tower Theater in Philly but decided on this venue instead.
The last two minutes of Steam Engine. Some of the video quality was lost because I had to rotate the clip...can't believe I actually figured out how:

LOL...I realized what that sounded like right after I posted it. Oops. :P
Wow! Where to begin?
I guess the best place would be to thank Trish and Bob for their hospitality at the Hyatt. What a great pre-show meetup we had. You guys are the best!! 8-) Liz- great to see you again, and hope to see you and lil-sis at T5. Glad you made it home ok
It was great to meet some other forum members for the first time: . Ky, Bluesky, Fiddle,Headhunter and the Mrs( my show buddy), you guys Rock! I hope to see you all at T5, or even KFC. A special thanks to Ant for taking good care of our posters. Still can't believe we got #'s 1-4!! I hope you made it home to CT ok. Apologies if I'm forgetting anyone.
Janecool and Jon: I'm so glad you joined us. It's always great seeing you two and I'm glad you got to meet some fellow Jacketeers. T5 is going to be so much fun. JC, I know you'll be a welcome addition to these boards and look forward to seeing you here. :-*
Nice venue on the water and had no trouble securing a spot wherever we wanted. Kudos to the ladies who were on the rail. I hope we'll see some pics. Jon and I and Mrs HH, got a prime spot by the Light tower that we were able to sit on for the opening act, and be at eye level with the band.
I thought the band was on fire last night. They always bring it,and I can't ever get enough.
There was so much energy coming from the stage and then sent right back by everyone down low. It was one of those special, magical nights, that I'll never forget and I'm glad I got to share it with so many here that love this band as I do.
Best Steam Engine I've ever seen or heard.
I'm loving Circuital more and more every time I hear it, and if this is what we can expect from the new album.....WOW. It's gonna be fantastic!
Honest Man !!! Hell yeah. Loved seeing Touch me pt. 2 then pt.1 in the encore. Off The Record blew me away and even though I was hoping for another tune before OBH,or even after, they left it all on the stage last night. I know I was spent and can't even imagine how they felt afterwards.
Real cool hanging by the buses after. Never really did anything like that before, but glad we did. Patrick's wife was a sweetheart. Great to get Carl and Bo to sign our posters and Fiddle's Little Tikes.
Thanks to Bob for making the call to head back to the Hyatt. I was thinking the same thing, and glad to know I wasn't the only one who couldn't stay there any longer.
Did anyone get to see Jim?
I can't wait til we can do it again! See you at T5.
What a great show. Have to agree with earlier posting, last night's show up there with RCMH in June 08.
Love the new Song the played - "circuital" look forward to hearing that on the new album next year.
It was great hanging out with Dan & Jason (Jrud + GivenToFly) at the show last night. Thanks for adding to the experience.
Anyone know if they found the taping? I did see mic's been set up around the place, would like to find out.
Thanks MMJ for another memory.
Very nice pics diddle!!! ;D ;D ;D
happy to say our poster made it home safe and sound and is now framed and ready to join those from our other shows on the wall of fame. Another shoutout of thanks to Deathstick for taking such good care of it during the show.
That's Bo's signature on the top and Carl in the middle.

Two hours of sleep last night, got in at 4:15, sleeping by 4:30 up at 6:30. Dragging my ass around work all day was well worth it. I stuck around till about 1am just as the asshole security guard was tossing everyone the band came out to the bus. Finally got the JJ auto and hit the road.
Thanks to Bob and Trish for organizing such a great meetup with so many awesome people. It really says a lot about this band when its fans are such great people and it was a pleasure seeing everyone again. Can't wait until T5.

You deserve it for hanging around and your perserverance.
Hi all, long time fan, first time posting in about 3 years. My wife and I met a bunch of forum members in the crowd last night (headhunter, northern neighbor, and a few others) and I decided I should hop on here again. As always, the show was awesome. Great venue and a great crowd with lots of energy. I'm always amazed at how cool MMJ fans are. The camaraderie among everyone and appreciation for how great MMJ are make the experience so much more meaningful. The only bad part was having to drive back to Arlington, VA late at night, but it was well worth it. Headhunter, I'll shoot you an email later because I'd love to get some of your pics. Hope to meet some of you all at a future show...
Some pics for you guys to enjoy:

Any word on a recording? I've gotta hear Honest Man and Circuital again...
Also...Emmit, I forgot your name on the board here lol, shoot me a PM if you read this, I can get that hotel info for New York.
Also, to anyone else interested, I got a hotel in Newark (10 miles outside the city) for $35 a night. Yes, $35 a night. For the week it was 200 and change. One night in the city at a decent place is nearly as much. Good deal for anyone seeing all 5 shows.
QuoteAny word on a recording? I've gotta hear Honest Man and Circuital again...
Finger crossed that one shows up on Archive.
I heard there were a couple of tapers setup so hopefully one comes through.

You deserve it for hanging around and your perserverance.
There was no fucking way I was leaving without it. Especially since it was just Jim's that I needed. I'm not travelling with that poster again like that, with a chance something could happen to it. Wish you guys had stuck around to get all of yours signed too, but it was really getting late.
really happy for you dude-- must have made the long ride back to CT a bit easier to deal with
Well, well, well...what's to be said that hasn't already been eloquently put by all of you fine folks.
Truly a pleasure to hang with you all, and to once again be treated to an evening of pure ecstasy courtesy of the jacket. I mean really, who rocks like this? NO ONE -- ever, ever, ever (don't you ever think it).
SO, let me put some pics up in this piece and bid you all a lovely evening.
For anyone who wants the entire photobook (102 pics) just PM me your email address!

It was great seeing you again and meeting everyone else. What a great show, except I had to move all the way out of the crowd half way through because of dehydration and a pounding headache. Still they looked and sounded perfect the first half. And sounded just as good the second half. Terminal five, my body shall not betray me!

QuoteQuoteGREAT night!
thanks to tdb & 8bobbyb for sharing their room & providing a nice spread for the pre-party. we planned on heading over to the abayye but by the time the last of us trickled in, gates were opening soon so, it just didn't work out.
we got right up to the stage (no barrier/rail!) - slightly right of center. it was a really good vantage point. all of my other shows i've been far right and didn't really get a great view of carl. he sure is a lot of fun to watch. excellent facial expressions! tommy looked like such a badass, kinda mesmerizing to watch. bo looked like he was having a lot of fun up there & boy does he make those keys dance! jim was a crazed man, kicking out & doing all these fancy saches & funky dance maneuvers. and when he came out to the front of the stage, he was RIGHT THERE, smiling down at us (pics to come later). and yes, he did don the donkey head!!! the one & only drawback was that i was right behind one of the monitors which almost completely blocked my view of patrick. so i didn't get to really see him doing his thing.
they sounded so so so good. phenominal set! i truly do feel quite spoiled. probably the best of my recent shows [highlight](sorry sis). [/highlight]highlights for me were honest man (they rocked the fuck out on this), easy morning rebel :o, golden (i just really love this song), mahgeetah (i concur that it was the best ever!!!) & touch me part 1 (never heard this live before). steam engine was also the best ever, imho (swoon).
after the show, we waited in the lot by the tour buses & after a little while, 3 ladies came out of one of the buses & one headed over to us & started talking. she was super nice & was like "wow, you guys have been waiting here for a while, & did you like the show, blah, blah, blah..." and then a few minutes into the conversation, we come to find out she's patrick's wife! she was such a cool lady & thanked us for coming out. awesome moment! then, a little while later, carl walked by w/ his luggage & tdb called out out "snooowwwyyyy braaaamble!" & he turned & looked over w/ a sly grin on his face. hahaha, so awesome! he chatted to some other folks for a little while & then signed our posters (posters is very, very cool for this show). a little after that, bo walked by w/ his luggage & he also stoped & talked to folks for a bit & then signed autographs. i got an excellent picture of him signing fiddle's 1st keyboard, after he played it a little!!! he signed all of our posters as well. so we waited, and waited, and waited a little more for tommy, patrick & jim to make their way over. but, after a little scouting by 8bobbyb, it appeared that the guys were having a little post show party & we figured it might be quite some time before they headed over to the bus. sadly, we decided to call it a night & all headed off in our separate ways.
the 2 hr drive home went by in a flash & when my alarm went off at 5:50 this morning, i had no trouble getting out of bed. i even got to work with time to relax a few minutes & get myself situated, even though i stopped for coffee on my way in ;)
fantastic night. hung out with some wonderful people. met some new faces & honestly, every single person i have had the pleasure of meeting & hanging out with has been so nice & kind & FUN! al different walks of life but everyone is just so down to earth & excited that the other person loves this band too.
cooljane - we were rockin out right next to each other. i saw the pics you got & i want them!!!! check your PM.

Hey everyone-
Just checking in to grab the setlist. I'm new here and new to MMJ. Philly was my first show and I was blown away!
I'm a newbie to your scene, but I've been recording concerts for over 10 years. I ran the mics down front and I'm working on getting it posted to the LMA. It'll be up in a few hours, I'm just running the recoding through a few plug-ins to clean it up.
Thanks to the kind folks at the show who let me squeeze in and set up the mics in the sweet spot. :)

Thanks for the hospitality everyone! Yes, I was setup on that pillar front and center. Some really nice folks cleared a spot for me to set up. I was wandering around most of the night and was happy to come back to a running rig and nothing missing! It was a special night for me; I didn't completely "get" this band till I saw them live. They have a new fan in me for sure!

Hey everyone I just made a name thing on here so I can connect further with everyone! I was also hangin out by the buses with you guys, I was the girl who made the shirt that I was trying to get everyone to sign. I was with my little sister and that was her first jacket show, what an experience for her! (I mean for me as well, but your first jacket experience including pics, chats, and autographs with a few band members, so happy for her!)
It was awesome meeting everyone, I don't remember everyone's names, but I did promise to connect with people on facebook, hope they find me here! you guys are pretty awesome!

Welcome! Did you get everyone's signatures?
Looked like Bo was having a really good time talking to you!
Carl too. That's a shirt that won't get washed anytime soon.
Glad you had a great night and a great first show!
NO! I only got Bo's and Tommy's, I missed Carl, and didn't wait for the rest of the band :( reason being -
I was with a friend at the time (not a jacket fan, never heard of 'em before I posted a video of them on my facebook 3 days prior to the show, i think he just came cause he has a crush on my little sister) he kept complaining that he was bored and tired and we had 15 minutes left to wait for the rest of the band... (last time i hang out with a 19 year old) I forget what it's like to have curfew. I was his ride, so I almost told him to take the train, cause I'm staying. But for some reason I let someone 5 years younger than me, tell me what to do and when I need to leave. REGRETFUL!
BUT, there's always future shows to finish my shirt! it's pretty dirty by the way, makeup and sweaty, i wish i knew how to properly take care of this shirt, so i can wear it to future shows, till it gets finished, and NOT look like a scum bag in it haha.
It was my sister's first show, not mine... this was my 5th, I believe.

i love this story! i brought my little sister to her 1st mmj show too. for me, it trumps all other sister-bonding moments we've ever had. isn't it so wonderful to have shared that night & have those stories & memories to talk about for the rest of your lives?

One discrepancy in titling,
the intro is just an intro (1st track)
and the 2nd track should be Rollin Back/The Way That He Sings :)
This is going to be the longest 2.5 hours of work until I can get home and lsiten to this.
Thank you!!
HONEST MAN
QuoteHONEST MAN
well, now i see why they don't play this song live more often...Jim and Carl can't pull off the guitar solos live. As a guitar expert, I am very disappointed in MMJ after hearing 'Honest Man' live. Sounds like fake white boy blues as heard before on a few really bad Steve Miller Band albums. For shame...

Remember.... MMJ was a very different band when this song was written. And Carl most definitely can pull off the solos, he's a classically trained guitarist and graduated from the Jacobs School of Music.

You never answered my question in the other thread:

QuoteQuoteQuoteHey everyone-
Just checking in to grab the setlist.
Jesse
Welcome!! -- And [highlight]congratulations on becoming the most popular member on your first post![/highlight]
Glad you liked the show and the scene. These people here are the best.
And THANK YOU for doing the taping!! :)

Thanks Jesse, sounds great.
I probably should have mentioned my name in my first post here so those of you that I met would know it was me - I'm Laura, Eric's friend who was at Trish & Bob's pre-party and then had the pleasure of rocking out up front with some of you.
Anyhow, here's a few of the shots I took, hopefully I do this right - other forums I've been on allow three at a time, not sure how it works here, but that's what I'll do...

Hi. Loved the Penns landing show. 1st time seeing them and it was the hardest rockin' show ever. I must find out what the cool saxophone song is that the band came onstage to. awesome.
I can't stop listening to Circuital. It really showcases a lot of the different sounds they've churned out over the years. The intro/outtro is all Z, and the full band/middle sounds like a polished version of the early stuff.
QuoteHi. Loved the Penns landing show. 1st time seeing them and it was the hardest rockin' show ever. I must find out what the cool saxophone song is that the band came onstage to. awesome.
Sounds like Danny Boy by a guy called Ben Webster. Taken from an old jazz album from the 50's. Pretty good stuff if you are into tenor sax.

it's already set up! i talked to management & explained that you had to miss the philly show due to being pampered by your boyfriend. they said they were very sorry to hear that & asked if there was anything they could do to make up for it. so i told them if they could arrange a meet & greet during T5 week, that'd definitely be a nice consolation. then they asked what shows you were attending & i told them you have tix for every night except ISM, which is the night you want to go to most of all. they said that was "totally unacceptable" and "flat out ridiculous" & that they are sending you a ISM ticket and 2 backstage passes for that night!!!! (hope it's ok that i gave your address to a total stranger)
after all i've done for you, i better get that 2nd pass! it's about time i got some fucking gratitude. hell, i'd even wipe the slate clean!
whats up everyone,
first post on the forum. philly was my second MMJ show (went to the MPP show back in May), and it was one of the best concerts of my life. the venue was sweet and the band was on point. wish i had a better camera for some better pics, but it looks like some other users have provided some pretty sweet pics.
just wanted to say a quick thanks to witnessMMJ for finding my blog and posting the link to my review/pics/videos. i meant to come and sign up and post it myself earlier, but it's been a busy couple days.
also, big thanks to jesse, what a recording. gotta appreciate and respect what tapers do, i'm sure it's a lot harder than it looks. thanks a ton!
hopefully next time MMJ come to town I can get in on a pre-show party, wish I knew about it ahead of time, but seems like a ton of fun.
i'd post the link to the post with all the goodies, but the forum won't let me include active links since this is only my first post. but if you haven't seen them and want to, just head on over to The Swollen Fox.
SwollenFox - your welcome to the forum
Good review & details
Keep going to MMJ shows - and give us all the material to keep us alive
The rest of the band showed up to get on the bus just before 1am. There was no way I was driving 3+ hours without getting the one JJ signature for my poster. The one dick security guard told everyone to go home at 12:55 and as we were walking away JJ and everyone else came out. Perfect timing and he looked like the asshole that he was (trust me, I'm not over exaggerating, anyone there can vouch for me).
BTW Patrick and his wife are both absolute sweethearts. I'm glad I stuck around to get everything buttoned up on both posters because it was well worth it. I'll get pictures of both in the next day or so so everyone can see.

thanks man. it didn't sound like Danny Boy but i'll check out Webster.

well, now i see why they don't play this song live more often...Jim and Carl can't pull off the guitar solos live. As a guitar expert, I am very disappointed in MMJ after hearing 'Honest Man' live. Sounds like fake white boy blues as heard before on a few really bad Steve Miller Band albums. For shame...
I'm pretty sure you're not real. I don't believe that there are actually people in this world as stupid and pathetic as you...

listen to the studio version of Honest Man and compare it to the live version and you can tell these guys have absolutely no idea how to execute blues music unless they are sitting down in a comfy studio with nothing but time on their hands, great editing and lots of retakes. If Jim or Carl were great, they would know how to improvise some badass guitar solos during the slow breakdown portion of Honest Man. Instead it just sounds like some high school kid practicing guitar.
I am so completely disappointed with the live version of Honest Man that im just about ready to sell all of my MMJ merchandise.
Jim needs to get out of this band while he's still relatively in his prime. He's way better off on his own.
back on topic
background:
so my buddy who isnt much of a music fan, as in he still likes the stuff he grew up listening to on the radio and hasn't really exposed himself or has exposure to anything good since the 90's used to make fun of me for going to concerts (i've been to a lot) and always listening to things 'weird' and not 'popular'. so i made him a long playlist that included 'the way that he sings' on amongst other stuff, mostly indie rock if you want to call it that (the national, arcade fire, modest mouse, m83, band of horses, etc..) with some classic rock, jazz, electronic, and other stuff. anyway most of it was over his head, but he like mmj. i then sent him the OBH clip from conan and got him two tix to the merriweather show (we're from baltimore).
the show came and went and he's never been the same. he listened to the show (on archive) for weeks and weeks. he's also bought everything but tenn fire. he convinced me to take a weekend trip to canandiagua and philly to close out the tour. canandiagua was good but he was a little disappointed with the energy of the crowd (compared to merriweather it was lame, imo). but i promised him that philly would be great. philly in my experience for one reason or another always goes nuts for mmj. sure there might be one or two many drunken loud dudes, but everybody rocks out and sings, and you cant ask for more than that... i think i was one of those drunken louds dudes at canandagua and i apologize for my behavior. ;)
in summary, thank you philly for always bringing the heat.
Wow! Hacksaw you are really jealous and pathetic...
I believe you are the type who sits in their mother's basement, white boy blues noodling until the cow's come home. If you had the goods, you wouldn't be wasting your time on the boards like this. you really should consider getting a life. :D
what am i suppose to be jealous of? the fact that i spend money on shows that are better than MMJ?
and Diesel: LOL @ those "indie" bands. wow, way to expose your friend to mainstream "indie" rock bands. you have a horrible taste in music.
btw, burning cd's and taking this guy to a bunch of shows...are you trying to get in his pants or something? guess you dont need a woman because all the porn sites you frequent satisfy your needs. pathetic.
Oh, by the way.
Make it dark, Marky!

that's odd, i always thought that the blues was something you felt. and "playing the blues" meant that you play what you feel in the moment. i had no idea that it was something that you have to execute. but i'm not a guitar expert so, what do i know ::)

can't wait to see the pics! congrats!
I downloaded the show yesterday around this time and Im pretty sure the only time I've stopped listening to it was when I was asleep. The quality on the recording is absolutely excellent. This is the best live recording around not named Okonokos, IMO (I suppose we could include Acoustic CitsuocA in there as well, but you get the point). Again, Jess, a million thank yous.
As for hacksaws comment...meh, to each his own. IMO if you're standing there listening for refined blues chops when Jim and Carl are doing their thing then you're missing the point anyway. Bob your head and shake your ass a little, you might enjoy yourself. So a self described internet "guitar expert" says it was disappointing...ok? He's entitled to his opinion. It blew the top of my head clean off (you can hear a wet thud if you listen closely at the 4:34 mark), so I don't really care what anyone else has to say about it lol.

Finally somebody counters my opinion without personally attacking me. Thank you.
MMJ is great, they are just overrated live. I guess Canandaigua wasn't the best show to see them live for the first time...I'm willing to give MMJ Live a second chance if Jim agrees to play a setlist I wrote out for them. Anybody know how to contact Jim? Somebody make this happen...I make the best dream setlists ever.

I came very close to re-naming my Fantasy Football team The Dark Markys.
Forgot to mention that before the show-at around 3 p.m.--I sliced my ankle open on a large shard or broken glass while moving some furniture. It was evident that an emergency room visit was necessary, but missing the show or getting there late was not an option. So my mom/mom-in-law executed an on-the-spot tape job, my wife and I went to the show and then the emergency room afterwards--seven stitches later I'm recalling the two blissful hours I spent in the presence of the great Jacket.
