well i am sick with jealousy and it's not fair because i live in their home town dammit. i grew up less than a mile from jim and yet I have to spend mass amounts of money yearly to see his band...
if someone wants to take me to this, i will fly to NYC and buy you beer and dinner and something from the merch table. food, beer, and jacket memorabilia... doesnt get much better than that.

Actually, it was the archived Gorillaz show I tried to record via screen capture tonight, to no avail. I just recorded the 32 second comercial over and over. I'm hoping the web feed will still work. And I keep looking for some video capture software, but I can't justify $40 and the free ones are mostly 2 minute free trials, so... Still, cool that folks who miss it live can venture over at their leisure and get a better def version.

I have access to a number of pairs of free tickets to tonight's MMJ - Live on Letterman concert which will take place at the Ed Sullivan Theater. You and a guest (it must be pairs) need to be at the theater around 7:15 to pick up your tickets. Doors open at 7:30 and the show starts at 8 and runs anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.
You must 100% be able to attend with a guest.
he might give the tix to others on our mailing list but i did shoot him an e-mail explaining that there were a ton of folks that'd love to go and how practically no one here was able to score tix. so i could get a couple of pairs for you all or i could get none. i have no idea how to handle this but ... i dunno, PM me if your interested and can 210% go with a guest (and/or pair yourselfs up on here) .. and cross our fingers?! it's entirely possibly i might not hear back from this guy but i thought it was worth a shot.

Is anyone working working on the web capture? I have the software to do it, but my internet is restricted to only 425 MB per day...I THINK I'll have enough data allowance to do it...but that will be my total internet allowance for the day...and my roommate is being a huge *ahem* about my internet use, so we'll see.

ha i think i saw that setlist picture being taken. i got a setlist too. i walked up and easily got a ticket from a CBS lady who had a STACK of them before the show. super surprised how easy it was. Great intimate show to get ready for next week. I was on the right side, 4th floor.

Hey Now JY --- that wasn't even my setlist it was Penny's ! I have turned over a new leaf of generosity, and unselfishness (especially if it's one of my buddies getting the selist :) if not - look out!!
I have them framed :) for real...converting our upstairs den into a shrine of sorts.
Cannot begin to thank Brooke enough for the major hook up, and so happy to hang with the ladies! Such a fun group of gals.

awesome show! it was a bit surreal, such a small place (it looks bigger on tv), very lucky to have been there. great seats, so close - 5th row, snowy bramble side. was really happy w/ the set; predictable but still excellent. (although, on the setlist i got the 1st song was TIWTCWY, which would've been soooo nice.) loved jim's banter re: moving letterman's desk & taking over the stage. badass. and his mini power slide during wordless. err, not so badass ;D
was so so so much fun rocking out w/ trish, penny & lil sis during the show. we did our best considering the close quarters. man, were we packed in there! but we sure did hoot & holler an awful lot. and of course, lots of \m/ gestures.
and then drinks after w/ all the ladies - including the lovely br00ke who made it all possible. THANK YOU!!! great to sit & chat over a drink while coming back down to earth. this has gotten me all sorts of riled up for the ramble on sat & then, of course, T5 :D
watched it on the webcast and made me very happy.
so glad for those who made it as a good way to get a little bit more psyched for next week (as if anyone isn't psyched enough already!)

Just watched the webcast for the 2nd time - last night I tried but lots of family distractions.
Man I love this band.
One of the reasons is that the songs are always improving. I feel like each of the guys is adding, tinkering, revising their parts. The end result are songs way better than the album, and always interesting to listen to. I never get tired of them.
Sitting here at my desk at 9 am supposed to be working... I still love watching them. The opening drums on Smokin, the revised guitar on I'm Amazed, the beginning keyboard on Anytime a little more interesting... just love the little touches...
Of course I prefer to be there live, drinking and having fun and rocking out without getting all intellectual.

I was able to record the whole show this morning and have in in wmv format it stopped half through said web cast not available but i was able to restart at same song. I am not sure where i can upload it is is over 2 gigs any ideas

anyway - on the full clip it's @ the 1:18 mark. towards the top of the screen, middle-ish there's 3 gals in a row wearing glasses L--->R: me (glasses, long brown hair & green jacket, geeking out), the girl in front of me (don't know her, also wearing glasses), then penny (glasses, hair pulled up, black sweater, cool as always), some other dude in front of penny (don't know who, also wearing glasses) & tdb (no glasses, long blonde-ish hair, huge grin). lil sis was to the L of me (next to the guy w/ the black sweater & collared shirt) but you can't really see her, just her hair. haha

here is some great info on creating a torrent (http://torrentfreak.com/how-to-create-a-torrent/) .. for a client i use utorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/) often but have never uploaded anything myself. they have the mac version on the main page but they also have one for windows. if creating a torrent isn't as easy as they make it seem, i have a friend that tapes at shows and puts torrents up pretty regularly .. i could field some questions to him. what with everyone and their grandma putting tv shows & movies up via torrent these days ... i am thinking it should be simple enough.
ETA: there is alot more info out there on creating a torrent. a more in-depth "how to" via utorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/documentation/make-a-torrent)

haha that was me - I was torn between trying to film some for my friends who didn't win tickets and enjoying the concert to the fullest. The fact that I'm seeing all 5 shows next week made me feel ok about the distraction of filming bits of this one...

haha, yeah lil sis was blocked. booooo! i didn't even notice us the 1st time i watched it. i was showing my co-worker & immediately after i told him we were definitely NOT in any of the shots i spotted us ;D
