I hope there are some AMAZING posters like mmj has done in the past.
Does anyone have any info on poster artists this tour?
or Does anyone know anything about the poster for B'Ham (if there will be one?)
Well I don't have any answers for you, but I too am interested and hoping for some great posters! I have been searching the last week or so, but I have not seen any artists displaying new concert posters for MMJ.. We'll see soon enough!
I really hope rob jones does some mmj posters one day, his stuff is amazing!
Rob Jones' work is really great. I have about 20 White Stripes posters that he did and love almost everyone of them. My favorites are Coney Island 05 and Glace bay 07 on Metal. I also have a Spoon poster he did for the Spoonx3 shows last year and a art print he did on wood.
But for MMJ I really liked what Guy Guy Burwell was doing for them in 2008. I love the RCMH, MSG, and Red Rocks posters.
I think this is my favorite of the Burwell MMJ posters, only 95 made.

I was really hoping Guy would rock the Sasquatch poster but it was done by Invisible Creature - http://www.invisiblecreature.com/#/shop/posters
Not really digging it personally, I'm sure it would great in a kids room though

any pics/info? can't wait to add to my collection at the St. Augustine show!!
the nashville poster is on gigposters.com
Last night's poster sold out early...don't snooze if you want one!
In other news, I'm looking for last night's poster if anyone has one for sale ;D
Its the first thing I do when I get in the gates. I cant wait to see the artwork, but a little disappointed by the Nashville poster..... :P
this is pretty boring.
did they have a Hatch print too, or just that one?
I have an extra Nashville print if anyone is interested. I'll sell it at cost...$25 + $10 to ship. PM me if interested.

I could have sworn someone posted a link to the posters on Expresso Beans or Gigposters. Am I going senile? Anyway, just curious who did them.
Here is my poster from Nashville. Signed by Everyone! While everyone else left or had a backstage pass, I was the only one that waited until 2 am to get everyone's autographs. I detailed who is who on my flickr site.

Kick Ass! I love that poster. Cool color. I dig the way it looks like just a one color rolled out print.
The ATL poster was similar, but in black. Awesome you got your's signed though.
Just a heads up to anybody who missed out on the Nashville poster. I did. Got there early with my poster tube and everything. They sold out with the quickness. I may be wrong but I think there were 2 posters. One was the orange one shown above (also sold in B'ham & Atlanta & possibly others w/ different colors) and the other (and cooler looking in my opinion) is this one by Nashvillian Mike Davis who works with the world famous Burlesque Design...

Oh man. THANK YOU!!! Just ordered. I love Burlesque, they do some great work.
Did we ever figure out who did the other posters with the lettering?
Whoops. Forgot about this thread.
So, are they doing the bracelet thing so you don't have to hold your poster for the entire show? Or should I just wait until the MPP posters go on sale on whatever the artist's website is?
No problem at all! Glad I could help. Burlesque does indeed do some impressive work. I have been collecting posters for a good while now (particularly MMJ posters) but this will actually be my first from them. I am a Nashvillian so some of these landmarks hold special meaning for me. That bridge is the Natchez Trace bridge which is just a stones throw away from my house.
I am not sure who designed that other poster. I got the one from B'ham but couldn't get either one in Nashville. Anyone know if they are selling that one at every show?

The 2 shows I have been to haven't done the bracelet thing so bring a tube just to be safe. Get there early too!!! Things are selling like hotcakes

Sure thing. Just glad some real MMJ fans can snatch these up at a fair price instead of paying an arm and a leg on Ebay.
Random but what is the bracelet thing with the posters? I am clueless. Can't wait to get mine at the Columbus show.
QuoteRandom but what is the bracelet thing with the posters? I am clueless. Can't wait to get mine at the Columbus show.
You give them money for a poster, they give you a bracelet, and when the show is over, you get your poster. The way it should always be done, I think.
they didn't do the bracelets in B'Ham.
that sounds amazing i have never been involved in such a deal. I have always been stuck holding a poster tube during the show
The wristband system is kind of great. I dread buying the poster before the show since then you have to babysit the thing the whole time, and can't properly rock out. ;D
Pearl Jam started doing this back in 2008 I believe.
I'm hoping for a sweet poster for the Maryland show to go along with my Radio City & NYE Burwell's.
GTF, you hitting up any of those east coast PJ shows?
QuoteGTF, you hitting up any of those east coast PJ shows?
Nope... maybe next time.
Last time I saw them (June 2008, the night before MMJ Radio City) I wasn't expecting much since I had seen them so many times before. They pleasantly surprised me.
Unfortunately when they played those last 4 show at the Spectrum here in Philly I was broke, just started a new job, and the Phillies were in the World Series, so I had no time or $ for PJ. :-/

Me too, my very first MMJ show AND very first Burwell poster. Ummmmm, I hate to rub it in but these were kicked down at the show. That is right, Burwell had some kid walking around this tiny venue in Portland going up to people and giving them this amazing piece of art. Just beautiful, I tell you what :-*
^ hold on to it, they are very rare....and one just recently sold for $350!

I would never sell it.....never, never, never! I absolutely love the image and it has gold fleck paint that is subtle but lovely.
The thing about me is this, me and my husband own some very rare Phish and MMJ posters. But we went to those shows. So why would we ever sell them? They cost $20-$50 at purchase and are beautiful reminders of a lovely time.
I hear you, I'm in the same boat, have tons of posters I will never part with. I could probably buy a car if I sold off all my Phish posters.
going to both msgs and boston woot!!!
QuoteI hear you, I'm in the same boat, have tons of posters I will never part with. I could probably buy a car if I sold off all my Phish posters.
Ha ha, us too! I have a friend who has a ton of duplicate copies of his Phish posters, a lot of which are rare. And he can't part with a single poster.

From earlier in this thread, I think this qualifies (and appears to be the only "custom" poster I can find; I didn't look at the merch tables as I didn't want to spend the $$$ or carry posters around, but I've since ordered this).

Yeah, it appears every show this tour had the same basic poster design, with different colors and the place and date. The picture was the one used in early promo for these shows. The only truly "arty" or "unique" poster I've come across was the Nashville one reposted above. Did I miss any others?
We still don't know who did those, do we?
Buggin' me :P
MPP posters were sold out when I went to merch. I am looking for any of these three my the best MMJ shows I've been to (aside from Bonn '08) Anyone have or know where I can get these posters?? Irving Plaza NYC '04, Radio City June 2008, NYE at MSG 2008, or MPP this past saturday?!?!? Thanks.

they're not that much, you can acquire either of these for around $100 give or take (at least for the 2nd edition Radio City). The Burwell Bonnaroo print goes for a bit more.

I was one of the first people in through the gate and the first person at the merch stand. There were no posters other than the billboard style poster.
I've got an idea for a poster for the three Petty shows...top secret. I will be getting around to starting it soon. I have another poster idea that I started working on a few months ago, but with no dates other than the end of summer shows, I can't even try to get it to management. I did contact their management but never heard back from anyone. It's NOWHERE near as cool as a Burwell but I've enjoyed working on it.

Not to discredit the seller, but for anyone on the forum considering buying any of these gig posters, I would contact this person about his/her claim that they are not "numbered". The one I bought in Birmingham has a tiny 14/100 penciled onto the bottom left-hand corner if you're looking at the poster head-on.
I dunno if the seller just didn't notice the serial number or what, but it may be worth asking him/her about it.
I'm not seeing any numbering in the pictures, but the prints themselves do look pretty legit, even the "folded" crease lines visible in the color
yea i saw that too...who knows, maybe not all of them were actually numbered. I guess it's a chance that might be worth taking for 35 bucks!
I usually like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but these posters would also be extremely easy to reproduce. There isn't any gloss on them at all, and the print isn't too complicated either.

true- if you have any experience I guess it would be pretty easy to re create. but there are little details that could easily get over looked
I'll tell you that I bought 2 of these, Birmingham and Nashville, when they were $25 ea. ($6.95 shipping). At the time, the guy only posted one of each show (no Atlanta, though) for that price and they went quick. Now, he's listing another batch at $35 ea. I wondered if these were originals or copies with no way to know for sure until they arrive. I will let you know once they're delivered. I noticed what looked like crease lines but wasn't sure if that was an original aspect of the printing, didn't know if they were numbered (the eBay post says they're not).
I'm not a huge fan of these posters, identical except for color, date, and venue info, but decided to suck it up for the three shows I attended (again, no Atlanta yet :-/). I also picked up the Nashville poster mentioned earlier (see below).

The first two of the four I got handed at MPP didn't have numbers. I had the vendor make sure they were numbered (all in the 90's) and went to good homes right after the show!

Sergio Moctezuma, the artist of this poster still has some of these available. He asked me to put the word out. They are silk-screened prints hand numbered out of 225. He is extremely helpful and easy to deal with and is completely legit. I paid for mine on Thursday and it arrived today (Saturday), so he ships very fast as well. Plus, did I mention it totally kicks ass. Just e-mail him at: SergioM@rocketmail.com. You can pay through his e-mail with Pay-Pal and the price is $35 plus $10 shipping. I'm not sure how many he has left so if you want one, I would act fast.

Does anyone have knowledge of a poster for the MMJ show in Atlanta on April 23, '10? I've seen most of the April/May shows in that standard design and picked up the Birmingham and Nashville versions, along with the Mike Davis Nashville poster. I am pretty sure there was no poster for that show. From my research and talking to a few knowledgable parties, there doesn't seem to be one.
There were those standard "2010" designs for all other shows, with the following additions:
2 additional color runs for Nashville

(I'm trying to collect all MMJ posters, but it really hurts the wallet when not only are the posters mediocre, but they make multiple versions!)
And then unique posters for 4/21, 4/24, 4/30, and 5/2.
QuotePicked one up at the show. It's awesome.

They had a few at the merch booth by the main stage. They went quickly.
Also, Erick26, at the beginning of the day at least, all of the merch booths had MMJ shirts.
We stopped at the booth by the rumpas room. We were trying to find a girls shirt and were told that was the only booth selling MMJ shirts. I have a bad knee so I never made it all the way to the bottom of the hill to check out Easy Street records and the merch down there. Guess I will ebay one. I can say for sure that I saw 2 booths that had zero MMJ right after I bought my green owl shirt.
I hope they bust out a good one for Chicago.
Those billboard multiples suck bad (IMO)
and reall for a band that is this creative and artsy, for lack of a better word to come out with something so droll is weird....unless that's what's supposed to be creative about it.

I agree these posters were less than imaginative. The photo used in them was a promo photo from long before the tour was announced, so its not close to new. The posters are also somewhat evocative of the setlists, which were almost identical, save for three or four songs. Perhaps that's what the different colors represent.
;)
So I finally have aquired some posters, next step is getting them framed. Any suggestions for getting these 18x24's framed? Preferably looking to do it myself, but not sure best way to go. Thanks.

Great question. I was assuming I'd take my 4 recently acquired posters to a framer, but recall from back in the day, when I worked for a camera shop, that framing can be EXPENSIVE. I'd much rather do it myself and use the $$$ saved for the next poster. Any advice would be appreciated.

americanframe.com or pictureframes.com, I use them both regularly.
Here's a good link for some info on DIY picture framing.

One thing to keep in mind....it can be tricky matching matte colors over the internet, they never quite look exactly the same as they do on your monitor. If you go black or white, obviously not really an issue. Pictureframes.com will send you free matte samples, which is nice....then it's easy to pick the right colors. If anyone has any Q's I'd be happy to give some info, I've probably framed 30+ items myself, it's a fraction of what it would cost having it done professionally.
also, this thread has some nice pics of framed MMJ posters.....

Oooh, I've never used that pictureframes.com site. I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the rec.
Very cool, I am going to check out these recs. That link to the framed stuff is tough to look at my top three shows: MSG-NYE, Radio City, and the epic Bonnaroo '08 all there framed. Had no idea these things existed when I was at those shows, wish I did, although odds are that the poster would not have lasted the night.
it's hard to keep a poster in tact during a show, especially if they don't provide tubes. For MSG we had a hotel rented right across the street at the New Yorker....some of the posters were being sold outside the venue before you enter, so I ran the posters back to our hotel room before we even went inside.
I like to bring my own tube (yes, totally nerdy) and if they don't let me in with it, I keep a plastic sleeve in my purse - keeps the poster dry and intact. Not as good as a cardboard tube, but it'll do in a pinch.
But yeah, ideally you'd do like fredo and avoid bringing the poster into the concert situation at all ;D
I roll w/ the tubes to shows too. I remember for some of the shows in 08 they were doing the wristbands for the posters. That was so great...no worries during the show and no insecurities about looking like a poster nerd w/ tube in hand. At least that was the case for Myrtle show and from what I remember reading on here some of the other shows too.
As far as the framing goes...I generally like to roll w/ Michaels standard frames for gig posters, as long as they are 18x24. Really unless the posters become more valuable than a frame...I have a hard time justifying a nice frame job. And Michaels frames work just fine. If the poster is smaller than an 18x24 I will generally try and have a matte cut to fit the 18x24. That way its also not expensive to switch stuff around as the collection gets bigger.
I did just get the Moctezuma Raleigh framed up professionally...I made an exception there because of the size(pretty expensive bill for that one). I totally lucked out and got the framing on the house when an old lady accidently walked off w/ my order ticket last week. As soon as I get my camera back from the geek squad I will toss a pic up. It looks awesome.
Just got the camera back...here is the Moctezuma Cary print all framed up...

I stumbled across another 'custom' poster from the Spring tour that I wanted to share with fellow Jacketeers. This one was done by Clinton Reno out of Columbus, OH for the Lifestyles Community Pavilion show on 5.2.10. It really is a beautiful poster. It is $20 + shipping...

Sweet poster! :)
I own this one and it's better in person - the colors really stand out (the pic here looks a little washed out)
It just occurred to me that there very well may be 5 different posters made for the Terminal shows.... perhaps 6: one for each album and one for the entire run. Holy cow. Must.Rob.Bank.
We went to a show last night and I got my friend and his gf a poster for their new house. I didn't have a tube so I hunted down a rubber band and he took two beer cans, cut the tops off and used the xlerator hand dryer to dry the cans out. He came back a few minutes later with two Budweiser poster ends and the poster stayed intact for the show, and the eventual train ride home.

That is so MacGyver of you guys.
The "clone" poster from Atlanta was MIA for a while, then showed up on the MMJ website store page. Following the standard format for the Spring tour, I still snagged one to complete my collection of posters (except Boston Monsters of Folk; anyone... anyone?).
I'm posting this eBay listing because its a better price, shipping factored in, than the MMJ interweb store. Sure wish they'd gotten a bit more creative with these...

Didn't care for the poster last night at all. Glossy litho, really? Give me a signed/numbered screenprint anyday.
What is with their posters lately? There's been a lot of chatter about it in the poster community, and it's not good.
Looks like they got a good one at the Greek, so that's something.
Okay, done complaining now. ;D
At first I though it odd that "My Morning Jacket" didn't appear on the poster. I need to wear my glasses more often. :)
Can anyone tell me why there is no poster for the 5/1 Merriweather show? That was one of the best shows I've ever been to. What's the deal? Even one of those generic posters they used for that run would be better than nothing.

There is one - it's of the "generic" type. See the online store right here - available $24.95.
Ah, I see it now. Thanks. I didn't look past the first store page and somehow never saw it on eBay before.
I picked up one of the Skeletor Boot posters at the Greek in LA, but while we were waiting inside, the big screen showed a "limited edition" poster by Kii Arens put out by the Greek (NOT at regular merch table), which we promptly sent my bf over to purchase. It looks a little something like this:

I'm hoping dearly for some sort of bear and/or owl theme to the Philly poster.

QuoteNot to discredit the seller, but for anyone on the forum considering buying any of these gig posters, I would contact this person about his/her claim that they are not "numbered". The one I bought in Birmingham has a tiny 14/100 penciled onto the bottom left-hand corner if you're looking at the poster head-on.
I dunno if the seller just didn't notice the serial number or what, but it may be worth asking him/her about it.
funny you say this, because i just came to this thread to post that i think the seller is just constantly reprinting them. that or this seller somehow ended up with multiple copies of all of these posters
QuoteJust a heads up to anybody who missed out on the Nashville poster. I did. Got there early with my poster tube and everything. They sold out with the quickness. I may be wrong but I think there were 2 posters. was the philly poster signed and numbered or only numbered?
i went to michael's arts and crafts store and they were quoting me over $200 for a custom frame for a poster, and that includes a %50 off sale!!!
anyone recommend any other stores that have framed posters for them?

The philly posters were only numbered.
I have family in the business. Custom framing is extremely expensive, and a place like Michaels will absolutely be the cheapest.
Luckily, I get everything done at cost :)
I picked up a nice 18 x 24 frame at Michaels and framed it myself.
No matting but still looks nice. Only $25 bucks for a pretty nice frame.
I did spend big bucks framing my NYC MSG poster and while the Philly frame is not in the same league-- it does look pretty good (imo) at less than 10% of the cost.
the clerk didn't recommend the frames off the shelf. she said matting and a uv glass should be done b/c they were numbered. is there really that much of an effect on the poster based on uv rays and the glass in a off the shelf frame? it's a cool poster and all, but its not a Picasso. do these posters really appreciate in value? is there reason i should spend over 200 instead of just getting a off the shelf frame and doing it myself?
IMO these $25 frames (mine was marked $50 but Target had a 50% sale on frames) are really good enough and can look very good.
some of the posters do appreciate in value if they are from really special events ( Bonnaroo, MSG, Radio City) but I don't think most do and you can find a bunch on ebay at or around the original sales price.
I do love my Philly poster but don't expect it to appreciate in value by much if anything (and that is with my Carl and Bo signatures).
I think mine looks really good the way it came out and have it hanging proudly in my music room.
The canandaigua poster is on sale at the artist's website now in case anyone missed out like I did!

Generally, the clerk is correct. The posters likely won't appreciate, but if using off the shelf frames the poster will be damaged by sun (color shift or fade) and turn yellow (off the shelf frames and their backings are usually not acid-free).
I'm lucky that I rarely spend more than $100 getting anything framed, but I can't see myself spending the extra bucks if I didn't have a framing connection.
it's all about Do-it-yourself framing. Relatively easy and about 1/2 the cost, even when you go with archival framing materials.
the pittsburgh poster is now available at the artist's site:
http://www.strawberryluna.com/gallery1.php
All of my posters are self framed- if you take the time to put them in they can look really nice. I don't think you need to be spending $200 on a frame- you'll be ok with the off the shelf stuff
Would anyone know how to submit art to be used as a poster? Do I go to management for that type of thing? I don't have printing capabilities so I suppose I should look into finding a decent print shop around me and see how they need the artwork submitted to them

Does anyone know if all the posters are available here in the bands merchandise store, or do they only put the ones that haven't soldout at the actual show?
I really want to get all the T5 ones, but I'm not crazy about holding a tube all night, every night. I'd love to just order all 5 at one time and have them shipped.
I noticed not all the summer show posters are available in the store, and wonder if that's because they sold out at the show. I'd definitely rather do the tube thing, than risk not getting the posters at all.
Were they available here for say RCMH or MSG after the shows had passed?
Looking for some sage advice from anyone who's been around awhile. ;)
I'm really hoping it's just one poster for the entire run.
ericm, the RCMH and MSG posters sold out before the show ended. at MSG there actually 2 diff posters for sale. the guy burwell screen prints sold out.
i recommend bringing a tube the first night, buying a poster and seeing if you can check it at coat check. after the first night's show, some of your questions will be answered re: rate of selling out, etc. then you can decide how you want to handle your poster purchases.

So there's a story behind this - the poster arrived in the mail damaged... I offered to mail it back, but the artist just said to keep it and they'd mail another. He did want me to send a picture proving I'd destroyed it (in case I was trying to scam a second free poster- not that he suspected me, but he said it happens) - so I let the kids go to town. I made it VERY CLEAR that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity for them so have fun. We also didn't tell the wifey so when she came downstairs and saw the kids in action she shit her pants ;D

I'm just not a fan of individual nightly posters for a multi night run. Phish has started doing this and irks the hell out of me. It's mostly a matter of wall space, and also one of tradition. I don't want to hang 5 different posters to remind me about all 5 nights, one super awesome one would suffice. If they do 1 for each night, I really hope they're small in size.

I made it VERY CLEAR that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity for them so have fun. We also didn't tell the wifey so when she came downstairs and saw the kids in action she shit her pants ;D
That's a fantastic story! Glad you were able to work it out with the poster artist, too.
I'd love it if they did a series of posters that "fit" together like the ones for the Wilco residency...

So I'm unsure what the poster situation for T5 is going to be.... but I have plans on making a relatively small-to-medium sized poster that's for all 5 nights... I guess I don't really want to make such a thing if there winds up being another one available, though! (the other one will likely be cooler!) I'm not really into graphic design, and I don't have any means to screen-print, but I have my good old colored pencils, paints, crayons, rulers, compasses, tracing paper, and creative mind!
What I think I'll do is just go ahead and make one (as it's on my mind constantly...) and just fly by the seat of my pants! I can post pics on here and see what ya'll think, and if anyone even likes 'em! Then if so I can make however many prints are necessary. And if I'm glad with how the design turns out, I'll probably make a handful to bring anywho :)
I think I'm going owl-themed, as for me it seems the easiest little design to work with, with maybe a dawn-and/or-twilight in the background, with some moving trees, maybe? And maybe I can squeeze some moonlight into the picture too? I like the owl theme, but I also am partial to the little creatures from the One Big Holiday vid....
Well if anyone has any input, please let me know!! I'll try to keep my eye out for any announced official poster ideas too, if such thing exists... Just so I know if one's already in the works and can gauge my efforts, etc.. I've never seen posters pre-announced for events, but then again I haven't really ever looked!
inside the YUM center, I have found and taken several black and white versions from around town.

Hahahah well snap! There's one pre-released!! That's AWESOME!!! Ayyyye!

Chicago poster now available in the MMJ store!
I would love to see what you come up with.

Love....that....so....much!
Seperate posters for each of the t5 shows. $30. Tonights was done by the same artist as philly this year (clinton reno).
Also.... shirts for each night too... album cover on the front, album name and show date on the back
I bought a poster at the show for $30, which I plan to do each nite. When the show was over and I walked outside, a guy offered me $40 for the poster. I told him I'd rather have the poster than the profit. Then, a couple minutes later, a mighty fellow seemed to NEED the poster, and offered me $120 for it. I really wanted the poster, but I couldn't turn down $120, right?

He offered me $100, I hesitated because I honestly didn't want to, but for $120, I'm just hoping one will pop up on eBay for anything less than $120 (which I think is likely), and I'll just grab that and keep whatever profit.
I can't say I regret. We'll see if I do in the long run. I might that dude extra happy, at the very least.

I have one too! This is one of my favorite posters ever, the theme is perfect. Yeah, it was a venue poster but way better than the band poster. The artist handed out only digital prints which don't compare in color to the original silkscreen, which is signed and numbered. I got at the State Theatre open house the sunday after the show.
Not that it matters, I don't really like TTF night one poster. Looks too cartooney, good for a kids room or something. Not my cup of tea.

Can't wait to see the rest of the week!

I'm disappointed I didn't get one, but I can't complain after that EPIC show last night.
hopefully i can snag one tonight.

I hope to see you two tonight. Will you be at McGees?

Hey I know it's a huge stretch but I thought I arrived early enough yesterday but I didn't get one. if anyone has an extra poster id love to buy it off you. Thanks so much
LOVE this poster. Eric, thanks for wrapping it up for me and fitting into the tube. CAme home safe and sound and will proudly be displayed with the others. Bringing my tube back tonight to hopefully get a sibling for night two.
Mine also was number from 136 although salesman said only 50
Trish- great to see you and Bob last night, glad you got the Poster. Hope to have a drink with you both tonight at McGees!
Beth was glad I saw you both and is looking forward to seeing her Philly friends on Friday night.

Jeff - You're welcome and we'll do it again tonight.
Sorry I lost you but I wandered around that whole place last night to get some different perspectives for the rest of the week. By the time I finished my "scoping" there was no chance to get down close with you guys.
It looked to me like you might have upgraded your spot a few feet or so. ;)
Tell Beth we're all going to have a blast again, and see you tonight at McGees?

Saw a small camera phone pic. It looked dark and a bit muddy, but it was very small. But I know who the artist is, and chances are it will be pretty good :)
anyone have one from last night for sale?
My guess is that there were 136 of the posters made, but only 50 sold at the venue last nite. That seems to make the most sense to me. The rest will likely be sold online, my guess.
How big are these? Do I need a huge tube if I plan on bringing one in?
24 x 18. you need at least a 20 inch tube but better to get a fatter tube as they are not easy to roll that tightly
i got mine at fed-x kinkos

damn would love this poster.....love me some guy burwell

I won't buy one, since I didn't go to the show and its gonna be hard for those who did to find one. Still, Burwell is great.

i'm with you. i saw somebody mention a "poster check" in a earlier post. wondering how legit it is... worst case scenario i buy a tube from FedEx/Kinkos and bring it up with me to the front. Assuming I get a poster in the first place! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
First night I checked a poster, no issues. Second night brought a tube, and also checked it with no problem. I believe I overheard them saying at the merch stand that they'd hold on to them if you bought raffle tickets but I could be completely imagining that.

- but seriously, (scary dude i know you will read this) that was NOT cool at all to scare the shit out of people on a dark street. I understand sometimes people go crazy over stuff, but cmon now - its just a poster and they will sell them online eventually as usual.

What's the situation with doors opening the past couple of days?
I've been to T5 before when they kind of open the doors but make you hang out in the rooftop area before the doors actually "open". Then at the "door opening" time... they left everyone downstairs to get their spots.
Has it just been the standard wait out front in line until the doors open at 7pm... or has there been access to the merch table BEFORE 7pm?

the merch line really hasnt been that bad so far, people are really patient, and it seems they have enough just to go around to the people who really want them.
they wont sell before 7pm, they let people on the floor at 7pm.
how big a poster tube do you need to bring to protect the poster?

Step 1. Wait in line upstairs to go "in"
Step 2. At 7, they let you down to go into the venue.
Step 3. Some people rush to the front of the stage and get choice locations. Others, (nerds such as us) walk to the merch table and wait in line for merch.
Good luck!
Is it going to be a choice between a poster and a balcony rail spot? I don't really care if it's 2nd or 3rd balcony. I plan on getting on line around 430/5, so hopefully I can do both!
Also, I have heard that 2nd floor Balcony dead center is reserved for VIP, is this true.
Favorite nonmusic moment: girl with FAKE claim ticket trying to get her poster from the merch table. Summarily dismissed by merch dudes.
those posters went QUICK

Quoteanyone have a pic/info on the ISM poster? we were too late and too slow...... :'(
they went super quick. i was waiting upstairs at like 6:45 and the posters sold out by the time i got down to the merch line and was like 15 people away. the poster looked okay - something like a heart in a bear trap. not totally sure - i only saw quick glances.

posters are selling out FAST. it is almost to the point of choosing between a choice spot on the rail OR getting a poster. get there early so you get a good spot on line. if you're going with others, have them box out a spot for you while you head straight for the merch table.
Their merch guy told me there were only about 50 posters on hand for sale. The rest get taken by the bands, artist, etc.
Check out omgposters.com, they feature a lot cool artists who do concert posters, and when something really cool goes up for sale on an artists' website they link to it.
Possible good news if you missed out for It Still Moves posters...Cricket Press's "for sale" page has MMJ listed with "COMING SOON!"

Sorry to be such a nerd... I'm just thinking about should I go for the poster first or try to get my spot on the balcony first....
I'm interested in this as well. I was going to head over to T5 around 630 and wait to get in til 7. Was anyone able to buy merch before 7pm or is it only after 7pm.
Step 1. Wait in line upstairs to go "in"
Step 2. At 7, they let you down to go into the venue.
Step 3. Some people rush to the front of the stage and get choice locations. Others, (nerds such as us) walk to the merch table and wait in line for merch.
Good luck!
I was in line at 6:20 and got a poster...
I plan on getting in line around 430 today. Hope to see some of you guys there waiting with me.
If I'm that early, will I be able to get both a poster AND a balcony rail spot?
2nd Balcony the place to be?

Hot damn! Who did that TF? I must have it.
Just curious because I have never had a problem getting the poster I want for a show I attended. Is there some sort of unwritten rule/common courtesy principle about buying a limited release poster (online) for a show you did not attend, when most people who attended the show were unable to buy posters.
I hope the question makes sense and I'm not trying to put up a stink. I just had a transcendent experience at the TTF show and was pretty crushed when I found out posters sold out so quick. I personally think it would be really thoughtful if non-attendees held off for a little while if they do release some more prints so people who were there could have to opportunity to purchase them.
Kinda interested to see where people fall on this. Again, not trying to stir the pot or anything, just really hoping to get something to help me remember this amazing experience.
I think most people only buy posters of the shows they attend.
I LOVE the Radio City poster and work next door to RC but couldn't make the show so never tried to buy the poster.
Would be really great if more were available at the shows for all those who really want them.
Yeah, I wish they printed up like 300 or so. That's generally enough to serve all that want a poster.
I've been checking the artist's webpage for The Tennessee Fire like a hawk this week. I will not be denied!

Looking good Jeff!!
So far the At Dawn is my favorite one, followed by TTF.
by the way, for those who have inquired --
got all the poster frames at Michael's . Big chain store. Frames are marked at $45 each but sale had them at 50% off.
Eric-- will you be at McGees for a bit tonight (i imagine we will head over to T5 early again tonight)

If my son's friend gets up from Baltimore early enough then yes, but I'm not counting on that. ;) If not at McGees,we'll see you and Beth on line.
I'll send you a text later to let you know either way.
sounds good. maybe if mcgee's doesn't work we all meet on line and order a pizza

jeff, i owe you $ for the TF poster!!! i had it to give you on tuesday & yesterday but totally spaced it when i saw you :-/
lil sis & i will be skipping mcgee's again tonight, not to be anti-social or anything, but we are on a mission to get ON the rail tonight. tomorrow, we will definitely be @ mcgee's for a pre-game (unless everyone decides to skip & get on line early, that is) and DEFINITELY DOWN FOR AN AFTER PARTY so we can all freak out, re-cap & maybe even sob over how beautiful & special this week has been & how sad it will be that it's coming to an end.
QuotePossible good news if you missed out for It Still Moves posters...Cricket Press's "for sale" page has MMJ listed with "COMING SOON!"

good to know.
anyone have an idea about what tonights may look like?
Yes...a little birdie told me that it is NYC themed.
Has a "Subway sign" element to it.
i'm just hoping they all get released online at some point....because i really want one but didn't luck out last night and not sure how i'll do tonight.

Poster by jason brammer. Numbered out of 134.
holy shit that z poster is insane.
The "Evil Urges" poster is pretty amazing as well. Who got all five nights?

Pretty sure there were more than that. THe EU poster is the best out of all, hands down. Dunno the artist though.
so last night i lined up at 5 pm, got a sweet spot on the railing in the balcony and my buddy went straight down to get a poster. denied. according to him they were selling multiples to people ahead of him and he got shut down. sold out by one person ahead of him. i went all 5 nights and had an amazing time, but was really upset by the shitty way people overtook the poster situation last night. i'll wind up buying one from these jerks on ebay just because i do. but in the end, the show was perfect and a poster, while amazing, is just a poster. the memories and ear ringing tinitis will have a much greater and long lasting impact. friends, family, i want you to all know that we experienced a legendary occurence together. thank you all for being so cool, and thank you all for rocking so hard.

I don't believe this. The merch dudes were solid and I don't think they would sell multiples to folks. I also arrived at 5:05pm and got number 34 of 140. If you were there at 5 there's no way you didn't get a poster.
At the end of the day you're right, it's just a poster.

Can anyone supply us with the artist name?
The poster is by Randy Fung. You may still be able to get one from another source aside from ebay - we'll see.

Odd, I thought there were more last night but I didn't ask. Sorry guys! Hopefully they'll put some up on their individual sites .
I tried to get two Saturday night to give one to someone further back in line but was told "one per person". It's never a problem to get a couple at another venue but when they had less than 25% of the actual print run for sale on hand, of course it's gonna be one per person.
I got Z & Evil Urges posters no problem.
Lined up around 4 or 5 both nights.
The merch guys were on top of their stuff. Definitely only 1 per person. They let everyone hold their posters there for pickup after the show for free.
Great 2 nights. One of the best concert experiences I'll ever have.
Someone Post the EU Poster for the sake of deprived souls everywhere!
That Randy Zung has done some wicked stuff so far, looking forward to it!
Yeah, I really thought I wouldn't get a poster on Friday night. I got in the merch line a little after the doors opened and there were already about 40-50 people ahead of me. Got one though. When I went back later on to enter the raffle, some drunk guy came up and asked "can I have one of those posters". Ther merch guy just looked at him and said "you are about an hour too late".
As requested. This one is pretty awesome.

Not really. But glad you like it. Tennessee Fire is the best IMO, EU dead last.
I definitely like the first 2 best.... the rest well all good but not great.
i wish I was able to get any of ISM, Z, or EU. all look awesome. I'm hoping htey post them online
It's pretty interesting to see all the different opinions of what folks like the best. I think the TTF poster was hands down the best, the burwell close behind...and i think I liked each successive night less and less. I think the EU is the worst and the Z is pretty meh as well, to each their own! I do like the subway sign thing going on with the EU poster, that's kinda cool. I will most likely only be framing the TTF poster, I think it's amazing (thank you so much aLady!). What a great week. Back in Cali and completely worn out.
I will trade my 3D "Z" poster for an "At Dawn" Burwell poster if anyone is interested and has one.
They're all beautiful in their own way. I am happy with the At Dawn night and the more I look at it, the more I see little things like the rope tied around her neck and the phone in her hand. The EU poster is incredible, too. Minimalistic, but it says a lot.
Edit
Okay, looking at these pictures I'm really bummed I didn't pick up TTF night poster. What with my owl thing and all.

Does Randy Fung not have an official merch website? Gigposters.com is the best I can find from him.
I want one but I didn't go to that show so to me it's kinda pointless. Looks like the ISM went on sale and sold out quick at the cricketpress website. hoping to snag at least one of the following: ISM, Z, EU.
not looking too good at the moment tho.
I had actually emailed cricket press after getting shut out for the ISM poster (on thurs/fri), they emailed me back saying:
"Our agreement with My Morning Jacket's management and merchandise folks was that we would only be doing the design of that particular poster, and not the actual printing. They wanted to do the printing through their own merchandise channels and simply commissioned us for the design only. We had to agree in our contract that we would not print an additional run for ourselves or our collectors. So, the size of the edition - unknown to us - was solely up to them, and whatever posters that may remain would only be available through the band's merchandise channels."
I don't think the cricketpress website sold any posters...
Thanks. I grabbed one but it does say out of stock now. hopefully my order went through.
Have you folks seen what these posters are going for on ebay? I'm glad I got mine safely tucked away.
got 4 of the 5 nights - missing AD. sold out 2 people in front of me (sonofa!).
i would love to complete the set so if anyone has an "extra" or is willing to part with theirs for a trade of some sort (i have other goodies), or sees/hears about more going on sale thru the artist's site etc etc etc - a heads up would be greatly appreciated.

Pearl Jam has a coffee table type of a book out that has all their concert posters in it with captions about the show and facts of the posters. It'd be pretty sweet if MMJ could release a book like that so everyone could have the posters without having to pay alot of money online or wait in line for 5 hours before the show.
Starting to expose my students to MMJ posters, now that they've received a good taste of the music and have seen most of Okonokos. Today's poster? MMJ T5 EU.

I emailed him as it is the only poster I missed out on. He doesn't even know if he will have any extras to sell at this point. But he promised me he would sell me one if he does...
I emailed him first thing on Sunday morning and he said I was one of the first to contact him, so I think he has gotten a few requests by now.
Seems like a very nice and appreciative guy. He was truly bummed that I got shut out with only a handful of people in front of me. He does not know how many posters he will get back from the band, if any. And then he wants to see if family/friends are interested first.

That is fantastic brother. You should try to incorporate references to MMJ in your lessons, and even use their songs in teaching your students (had an english teacher who used Beatles songs to teach lessons in high school) and then you'll create the next generation of MMJ forum members

Totally agree. We flew out from Los Angeles and ended up with only the Z poster. Selling 50 posters at a 3,500 person venue is garbage. Thankfully all 5 shows were amazing, very thankful to have been there. If anyone here has posters to sell please email me, I'd sure love to complete the set. Love to have all 5 and not get crushed on ebay. Also, if any of you are in L A and looking for a professional framer, I've got THE guy for the job. Thanks all! ;D

unfortunately, theres so few of these - it seems no matter where you try and get one, you will get "crushed" :) i've been searching high and low, and everybody wants to get the max profit - i dont blame them though - these were some of the hardest posters to get- they should have sold more at the shows....even 50 more would have been good......
Question - how much would you be willing to pay for one of these posters if the proceeds were going to a charity the band supports?
Follow-up - if they were signed by the entire band?
Just some hypotheticals.

Lovely!
Those first three are framers for sure.
Alternative to the other steam boat. I got numbers 41 and 42 out of 55. There s alot of detail you might notbe able to see with this image. there are bats and black cats all around it and stuff.

i dont know how to get that smaller.
Wow that poster for 10/29 is pretty ugly.
But that is just my opinion.
It's just my opinion, but I dig that psychedelic poster. Really funky, and an unexpected departure from the usual MMJ poster.
I'm really satisfied with it. they were also selling the other steam boat one but i perferred this one. plus there are only 55, and i have 2.
I grabbed one of each. Really love the colorful one the lighting effects on it are sensational. Was surprised that there were only 180 of the regular one by cricket press. I have 17 of 180 and 10 of 55. Does anyone know who the artist of the smaller one is

I also got one of each. I bought both at the same time, and somehow got #2 of the Branjofarms poster! 8-)
I ended up with # 51 of the Cricket Press Steamboat. Happy to say it's framed and hung alongside the T5 Five (as I've taken to calling them), and has given my wall a nice balance of six.
Now all I need to get is a nice frame for the Branjo poster, and I'm all set.

The "At Dawn" Guy Burwell posters have been selling for over $200 on ebay this past week, also have seen someone selling the last three posters from the last 3 shows as a set priced at $300. I know you are looking for the Guy Burwell one but that one seems to be the hardest to find except for the EU Randy Fung poster on ebay now for $199. Good luck to you in your search because Guy's website still lists to get your poster at the show. Don't know if he has any remaining copies but the merchant guys said they sold 50 that night and the rest were "for the band and friends." I know that seems like a lot for the band to take so i am hoping Guy will soon have them available for sale!! I am keeping my fingers crossed!!
QuoteI grabbed one of each. Really love the colorful one the lighting effects on it are sensational. Was surprised that there were only 180 of the regular one by cricket press. I have 17 of 180 and 10 of 55. Does anyone know who the artist of the smaller one is
I see the colorful one posted, but what does the other one look like?

I got mine yesterday. Did he send you an email with the FedEx shipping info? You should be able to track it there.

Initially, I wasn't really feeling the EU poster, but has grown on me quite a bit, and was lucky enough to track one down and should have it soon. I am now only missing the Z poster, which I'm gonna have to get for completion sake.

I agree with you on that, Randy seems like such a nice guy and has been very helpful! The TTF arrived on the 14th of Nov. for me.
Unfortunately I missed the re-sale of the TTF posters. If anyone has an extra, please PM me and we can work something out. Thanks.
Are the Evil Urges posters all sold out? I assume so? Where were they to be ordered from? I Got my ISM poster but would still love to find Z and EU if possible.
Your questions about the EU poster got me thinking about checking Randy Fung's website. Found these.

I can shed a little light on Randy's work.... I had the same reaction the first time I saw all that stuff. I'm trying to collect all of MMJ's posters, and by now even though I have a ways to go, I think I have a complete list of what I still need. So to see that website, with a bunch of images I'd never seen ANYWHERE before, my head just about popped off. Like a scientist discovering a new species of animal - just completely unbelievable that all these existed out there.
So, a bunch of emails back and forth with Randy followed. Yes, as someone else posted, he's super friendy, super nice, super generous guy.
He has made 8 official posters:
2004 tour (honey bee)
2006 dec filmore (matchstick)
2008 sep 19 - Berkeley (pinatas)
2008 sep 21 - LA (black reaper)
2008 sep 28 - Seattle (green monster)
2010 aug 12 - LA (skull boots)
2010 aug 20 - VT (american gothic)
2010 Oct 23 - T5 (Evil Urges)
He also has made a 2 posters just for his personal use- the space invaders Z and pegasus. According to Randy he made these, brought them to the shows to get signed by the band for himself, and gave the band a few copies. So basically impossible to find and not to be considered official posters. However, if one ever popped up on ebay, look out!
The rest of the artwork are ideas he's working on, mockups for posters, tshirts, etc. It doesn't exist in print anywhere. So maybe that's disappointing if you saw something there you loved. For me it was relieve that there's not another whole slew of posters to track down!
I seriously think Randy might be the nicest person I have ever exchanged emails with.
have to second that...or third / fourth that...Randy is the man
Dudes... I bought a YumYum poster reprint for my gal after her house burnt down, and received it on Friday. Today, I had another poster sent to my house. I thought it was a mistake, opened it up and it was another YumYum poster autographed by the whole band! There's definitely gonna be a delimma of where to hang that poster up (my gals house or my apartment) but regaurdless it was a wonderful surprise. THANK YOU BranJo and MMJ! What a great day!
that is so awesome I really think they are awesome
:o That is AWESOME e_wind, congrats! Man, like I needed another reason to love this band...talk about random acts of kindness!
Very, very cool....give that thing to your lady for her new place, I think she needs it ;).
And just a guess, but I think the random act of kindness was committed more so by branjo farms, they're selling band signed prints as well (I do believe).
I don't know if she'll let me hang it in her house after I replaced her yum
Yum poster with a nice frame. That and the fact that she lives with her two sisters and their house is litered with amazing MMJ items. We'll see how it plays out but fucking tight regaurdless of what happens
I don't think he's selling them, I think they're be auctioned at events for benefits and what not. That's what I gathered anyway, could be wrong.
TTF poster sold on ebay, believe this was the link...?

Wow! That is fantastic! She must be blown away.
My understanding is that about 22 signed Yum Yum posters were made available to the inner circle of the band, management, charity, etc. and were not going to be made "for sale". Brandon Jones, the artist, is a really nice guy, based on some email conversations we've had about my poster purchases from his website. And we know the whole MMJ organization to be a generous breed of human.
I'd love to see a pic when you have a chance.

Funny, the poster looks like a little white box with a red X in it. ;)

It didn't work? It shows up on this computer. I'll try and host it from a site rather than just copy the image location from my email.
Edit: I tried hosting to image shack. see if its working now.

Yes, much better! Looks great. I see a rare "Tom Blankenship" up top. He usually signs "Two Tone Tommy". Very cool!
for those interested...TTF / AD / EU posters up on ebay...not mine, just pointing out
I saw those. Was interested in the AD because of its pure beauty but 90$ is too much for me.
got my hands on all but ISM...hoping that on pops up
EU poster is simply amazing...just got my hands on that one...awesome

90 dollars is pretty good for that poster right now.

Oh I know, but I wasn't actually at T5. I don't like buying posters for shows I didn't attend anyway, so 100+ dollars is too far too much. Had they have printed 1000 of the T5 posters I would probably own the TTF and AD posters just because they look good.
