Title: Former Jacket drummer Chris Guetig's New Band

Howdy,

I was pleased to find out today that another one of my favorite Louisville bands is even cooler than I thought.

"Fire the Saddle" is an amazing, bluegrassy Louisville band I saw open for the Jacket at Headliners once upon a time when Chris was in the Jacket.  They were fabulous.  They've got a rootsy Appalachian instrumentation and incredible mixing male and female vocals.  Ever since that night I've been looking out for them and that's only paid off just recently.

On August 29th, they did WFPK's live lunch.  The archive for that show and many others is at:

As an extra bonus, I was surprised to learn during the WFPK show that Chris, former My Morning Jacket drummer, is now with "Fire the Saddle". They've also got a new CD out on Noise Pollution called "Sometimes It Ain't The Horse" that I'm trying to get a hold of and I'm sure is awesome.  So check out the "Fire the Saddle" show and while you're there check out the Jacket's Live Lunch from December 20th, 2002.

PS- John Conaway: I think once upon a time you asked whatever happened to the Jacket's former drummers. Well, I'm still on the case, my friend, and I have to tell you, Chris couldn't have picked a better band.  Anybody know if J.Glenn's in a band now?

I really dig that Fire the Saddle c.d., and Chris rocks!  He's the man that turned me on to the Jacket.

It's nice to hear Chris is doing fine... His drumming on the Songs: Ohia split CD is awesome!
