Here's a big congratulations to the first High Priestess of Rock'n Roll: Patti Smith! 57 today!

may the men on the chessboard get up and tell you
happy birthday!!
Err, that's a Jefferson Airplane quote... ???
Still a good quote tho...
I did actually know that - I had sent the quote to a friend who was celebrating earlier in the day.
I thought it would be appropiate for Patti as well?
I don't know any Patti b-day quotes.
Okay. That's also an opinion. ;D
We will let Patti decide ;)
But seeing that her and I are fellow Chicagoans I think she will take my side ;D
Now that's unfair! ;D
Hell, that JA-song is absolutely fucking great, so I'm sure she won't mind! :)
Yeh - happy birthday Patti - whoever and wherever you are! I just got turned on to MMJ by way of a music review in my local paper and I hit paydirt. Love this sound -- loved seeing them on Conan too. Any recommendations for other bands. I love the classic rock -- cause let's face it, at my age that's alot of memories -- but promise myself to buy new sounds too to keep current. Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted. Thanks guys.
Well, I can't recommend you "new sounds", but I do suggest you run out to your record store and buy "Horses" by Patti Smith right now! It's from 1975 and personally, I have never ever heard a better record in my life. If you like rock 'n roll (wich you obviously do, since you like MMJ), beautiful vocals (dito) and poetry (ehm... dito! :)), you're gonna love that album.
I am the spring, the holy ground,
the endless seed of mystery,
the thorn, the veil, the face of grace,
the brazen image, the thief of sleep,
the ambassador of dreams, the prince of peace.
I am the sword, the wound, the stain.
Scorned transfigured child of Cain.
I rend, I end, I return.
Again I am the salt, the bitter laugh.
I am the gas in a womb of light, the evening star,
the ball of sight that leads that sheds the tears of Christ
dying and drying as I rise tonight.
EASTER
Patti Smith
Here here! ;D
