Don't think this has been posted, but there is a pretty big Jacket article in the new issue of magnet. Album out in the spring sometime, with Jim and Joe Chiccarelli co producing. According to Jim, part of him wants to make a really tight "fucked-up funk record", and then a real quiet record. Or make one full of variety. Sorry if everyone knows this already. I mean well... ;) 8-)

King of the road.
Thanks 4 posting Ghosts :)
Joe Chiccarelli? I'd never heard of him but that's quite a track record...http://www.studioexpresso.com/profiles/joechiccarelli.htm
Cool cover! I hadn't seen that yet (I suppose it was pre-clean shaven Jim).
...and now it begins.
Has Jim and the boys made a cover before? I just recently subscribed to PASTE in hopes they make the cover for the April addition.
Wholeheartedly agree with the, "And now it begins... "
Does it strike anyone else as odd that the photo is only of Jim? I read the article - it's nice, it's all about them being America's greatest live rock Band. Like, all of them, together, as a Band.
I know they guys have no say as to what photos get used and where. I just don't know what this portends..

Drug Addiction, Law Suites, Bastard Children, A trend toward Jewish Facial Hair Styles, Solo Records, A New Episode Of "Behind The Music" People Magazine....... SUCCESS BABY!!!!!!
Plus my friends will start to see me in new light, they will actually dig out that bootleg I gave them four years ago and finally give it a listen. Then they will proclaim me the most insightful person they know and start inviting me to their parties.
Thank You Magnet Magazine!!
I still haven't read the article all the way through...but it is good stuff. God I love that in Portland, our grocery store (New Seasons...kind of like whole foods, but all local ;)) had this on the rack! Got up to Jim talking about a vacation on the earthship land (man...I have an old friend from college who built an earthship down there....I have not thought about that place in a long time).
I found a copy of this yesterday. I really enjoyed the article and a couple things caught my eye.
"Actually, it's just the usual holiday fetishizing from MMJ, which released 2000's My Morning Jacket Does Xmas Fiasco Style EP and has plans to issue a charity-benefiting picture disc this season."
"Browsing at a thrift store, James came upon five vintage eggplant-shade tuxedos. The CYSO, in turn, sought out and bought similarly colored scrubs."
Jim played 4 songs when he played at Kidzapalooza. Anyone know what the other 2 were?
He also talks about wanting to make a record that has a certain vibe to it, instead of an album thats full of variety. I wonder if they'll release a couple albums next year (one early, one later maybe); "a really tight, eight-song, fucked up funk record, and then a really tight, nine-song quiet record".

Thanks for posting. I don't know why I haven't bought this yet. Is that last quote from Jim or you?
That last quote is Jim.
Why can I never find Magnet anywhere? Borders, Barnes & Noble, help me out. You have every other music magazine. Whaaaaa.
Their website says> MAGNET is sold in every Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstore across the country, as well as in Tower, National Record Mart and Hastings chain stores.
But I beg to differ!
I did find mine at a Border's, D, but it took me forever to find in all of the crap. It was actually behind some other magazine. It was only $3.50 too. What a deal.
My wife got me the last copy at ours. I don't think they get many copies so it could just be sold out.
I'll have to check another Borders and scream Jackpot! when I find it.
Jackpot or Bingo?
Which should I scream?
