i haven't really bought much new releases, been rediscovering my collection.

Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days
Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News
Mission of Burma - OnOffOn
Patty Griffin - Impossible Dream
John Frusciante - Shadows Collide With People
The Walkmen - Bows & Arrows
Still more albums to come out like wilco, gbv, nick cave, spoon, maybe ted leo, maybe lou barlow.
The Walkmen album is great, I saw them open for the stills last month they were great, gonna see them again on Monday in Manchester with the open in support, who are one of the best bands I've seen in a long time. (www.theopenmusic.com)
their first album, Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone, is even better, get it if you haven't yet.
Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
The Streets - A Grand Don't Come for Free
Jay Farrar - Stone, Steel & Bright Lights
and really looking forward to A Ghost is Born

I have the 'lets live together ep' which has some tracks from that album on it 'we've been had' is my favourite.
Good choices. I have all of those but the Walkmen and The Streets. Are they awesome or what? I will have to check out the others. Do you guys have any websites for them? Thanks.
I think the best albums are yet to come. I realised the other day that all my old heros are going to release new albums this year:
- the new Patti Smith, already out, but I've yet to buy it: probably this week :)
- John Frusciante will be releasing 6 (!) new albums this year
- new R.E.M. record
- new dEUS record
- new Zita Swoon record
- those Darla compilations of old MMJ material.
In other words: a lot. The best albums this year I have heard so far are 'Uh huh her' by P.J. Harvey and 'Chutes too narrow', though that one's really from 2003.
