Title: Hair
Post by: harristrensky on Feb 11, 2005, 06:57 PM
How long is everyone hair in here?(boys) Are there any Jims in here?  I started growing my hair out this summer, I am going for Two Tone's look. I am at a poneytail but my bangs fall and I have to put them behind my ears. Any tips for fast hair growth?

Eat a raw onion every morning.

I think calcium makes your hair grow.  Pulling on it helps, too.  (I know that sounds weird, but it's the same principal as your fingernails - ever notice that the more you play guitar, the more often you have to cut 'em?)

But, you know, don't go crazy.  Just a little tug here and there should help.

(I assume, anyhow.  My hair grows like weeds.)

actually, I think it's Jello that works best. Eat a lot of Jello, thats what hair and fingernails are made of. They will grow stronger and sturdier (fingernails, I mean) and I would assuem it owuld have good effects on your hair, too.

As for how long mine is, here's a pic or two.

^^^^That's the most recent I have, about a month ago and it hasn't been cut since.

^^^^That's from the summer. I'm gonna work on the beard again, I grew out some awesome chops while my girlfriend was in Africa, so I think I've got what it takes for the full beard. My hair's about that length again, maybe not as wild since I haven't been driving with the window's down lately...  :'(

That's me a few months ago, since then there's been an attempt to make something of a haircut of this mess and it was more or less succesfull. However, it's still quite long. And I'm going for more! :)

Here's me as of five minutes ago.  I know I'm a girl, and this thread is for boys, but hair is the Universal. ;)

I'm trying to remember about how long it took to grow it...  Maybe just over a year and a half?  It used to be just a little bit longer than "O" s.  Keep it growin'!

Wow, that is nice, EC. Reminds me of Jim's hair in some way -- take that as a compliment, I guess.

And O, I couldn't see your picture. There is just a box with a red X in it. Did anyone else get this?

Yeah, but I could understand it.  I grew my hair to my bum in highschool, and it was ALL anybody ever talked about.  It got really tedious, so one day I just cut it all off.  People FREAKED OUT.  My boyfriend at the time kept looking at me like I was an alien with this sad look in his eyes.

So ridiculous.

So I could understand wanting a new change.

Very possible. She certainly hangs her head the right way. EC, now all you need is a black hat, a parrot, and a V-neck guitar to be held upright -- and you can go on tour!

Wow, everyone's hair is looking good! I just cut my hair yesterday. I cut off 15 inches and I'm donating it to locks of love.  I did that about 3 years ago too. At that time I cut off 18 inches of hair. People had become so accustomed to my long hair that they were really shocked when I cut it off. A couple people I worked with were angry that I cut it and never talked to me again, ever. One lady in particular had always been so nice to me and we talked all the time, until I cut my hair. After that the only thing she would say to me was "you stupid girl you should never have cut your hair, before with your long hair you were beautiful, but now..."  It makes me laugh, thinking how seriously offended she was that I chose to cut my own hair. People are funny.

To all the guys, ladies dig the long hair. Be patient and it will grow!

Harris, you'll be in ponytail land by the summer.  Whoop!

Elizanne, I feel your pain.  People can be RETARDED.  (I am SORRY for using that word, and I have been trying not to, but sometimes it really fits exactly what you mean.)  Who would think that people could be so fixated on something as stupid as hair?  And yet...

Grow it, cut it, do what you need to do with it.

And make sure, no matter what, you're as good as you can be, as often as you can be.  :)

p.s.  It has been mentioned before that if I wanted to, I could pretend I was Jim, and nobody would guess otherwise.  (Clearly an oberdub of vocals would be in order, as it is fair to note that, on occasion, in the early morning before I've had my coffee and a cigarette, there are notes of Jim's that I'm unable to reach.)  But again, it's all stupid hair.  I'd start to try and play One Big Holiday (on the 8th fret as sweatboard so aptly noticed), and people would know I was a fraud.

Oh.  Well, yeah.  Okay.  The "Somebody in Birmingham Loves Me" t-shirt might look a little different.

;)

People, this topic is wonderful! I was just more or less considering to shave it all off (I shaved my head completely bald a few years ago), but seeing and reading all this here, I think I'm gonna let it grow some more. Thanks! You have restored my faith! :)

My hair is shoulder length, dark and curly in a uncontrolled way. One day I'll have to get a grown-up hair style. But not yet  8)
