the jacket are featured in the LA Weekly that came out today. i was out at lunch, picked up a copy and read the whole thing sitting in my car.
GREAT write up! :D
i'll see if i can find a link...
here we go: http://www.laweekly.com/music/music/why-my-morning-jacket-is-the-best-live-band-in-the-world/18716/
Perfect. :)
Excellent read! Thanks for the heads up.
um. Jim's relocated to nyc? that one makes me a little sad...
the revolver-esque pic is the best
Jesus, that felt good to read!
That picture is so badass. If Bo's not writing some lyrics, he should be. He looks like a early 70's poet/activist and how can Jim look at the camera like that?
oh yea, thanks yvon! My wife is in San Fran tonight enjoying the beauty of the city... I wish I could visit there!
Great read, thanks for posting Ms Yvon :)
kory, your new avatar is bad. ass. !!
someday you'll make it to california for recreation, and not work!
forgot to mention, "morning in america" was ronald reagan's campaign slogan the first time he ran for president. brilliant twist on this by the author! ;D SUBVERT!! [smiley=beer.gif]
thanks yvon, I hope I'll get there to enjoy it too! Until then, you hold it down for me!
nice zep-esk picture which in the near future is my new zune backround
So bo claimed that they werent high when they thought of it. But aside from that. Do you think they smoke the dope? Part of me really believes Jim James probalby smokes a lot of pot. But another part of me thinks that hes too cool to smoke pot. idk what do you think???

They certainly don't look like they smoke a lot of pot...
I love that pic with their heads Revolver style! in fact i could totally draw that and make it way psychedelic.

haha who on earth would even think of wearing 70's prom outfits or basketball uniforms on stage!

we've been over this again and again. IMO i'm sure they've dabbled like most great bands have. they still make great music wether they do or not. and if they wanted you to know, i'm sure Jim would tell you.
Good read! :)

at this point...does it really matter?
I love reading these threads- L.A. to pot. Sure, why not.
Thanks for posting the article ms_yvon!
that article defines MMJ
Great Article.
I hope this album is their best yet.
QuoteWhen they're on, My Morning Jacket have the power to stop time. This puts them in a rarefied category with Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell, Rufus from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and Dr. Emmett L. Brown of Back to the Future (and even he needed a DeLorean, plutonium and/or well-timed lightning). Granted, this might sound a bit far-fetched, but I can assure you that it's true: I've seen them do it too many times and have heard too many stories from others to believe otherwise. On more than one occasion, I've had complete strangers turn to me and ask, "Are they always this good?" Sometimes they're even better, I usually answer.
Quotemessianic zeal.
;D ;D
Thanks for posting. :)
Yep, Hot Damn. That was THE best article I've read on the band. Kudos to the writer, awesome job. I also like how he made sure he clarified "soundboard" recording when talking about the prom bootleg. My recording sucked in comparison and I know it, in my defense they had the vocals unusually loud for those shows and it threw me off. I really appreciate how in tune this writer is with what is going on, plus he didn't just relay the facts, he put a beautiful personal touch on it.
Wow, I wrote that before I realized there were two more pages to read. :o
He's serious and intellectual and smart as can be, yet he's still been able to retain that childlike imaginative quality that most of us lose somewhere along the way."
Bo nailed it.
Again, to echo everyone else here.....AWESOME ARTICLE!!!!!!
Having been at the Fillmore New Years show myself I completely agree with his sentiments. I still have vivid memories of many moments of this show.
the image of Jim jumping so high off the stage during the outro jam of easy morning rebel just flashes through my head sometimes otta the blue.
I'm glad i have these memories because i don't think they will ever play the puny fillmore again. So Sad but congratulations boys you made the big time.
Thanks for this article.. so awesome, one of my favorites really, and it brought back some amazing memories :)
eeeeViL Urges baby!!!!!!!!!
