The passion. The love. Even if it's cantankerous debate, it is the fervor that My Morning Jacket fans possess that makes them a little different than 3 Days Grace fans. You don't just love My Morning Jacket, you feel inclined to get exuberant and opinionated about them. Like the KISS Army, or Deadheads, or Yo La Tengo fans, this is like a religion, one that demands not only your tithing but your heart and soul, the fire in your gut, and the tingling in your spine.
Look man, we don't just post here for kicks or recognition or anything other than the ongoing train of discussion that is all things MMJ. Nodoby here (other than Uncle Riny, our fine moderator) is more special or privileged, and that's the beauty of why and how this community was built and continues to thrive. This site ticks like the atomic clock. There is a steady downbeat of folks from all over the world who come here to share their passions, be it bourbon, Canadian Metal, or that show you saw in 2001.
So, let's continue on.
I love all of you. And I mean that.
Who are 3 Days Grace? (I seriously mean that.) Are their fans really crappy?
;)
Also, is there an actual category of metal called "Canadian Metal"? Is it held in a positive light?
I'm appreciative of your good vibes, John.
Feeeeeeeel. the. Loooooooove. :)
No hard feelings, brother. I know that you're a nice guy, Blue introduced us at Wick's one night. I just like giving you shit from time to time, and I have a feeling you like giving me shit, too. So, yes, let's continue on...

hahhahahah
It was an off topic rambling from a while back, where I was expressing my utter love of Fastway, Aldo Nova, Coney Hatch, Rush, or just about any other early 80's metal band from Canada. Rush is hardly "metal" per se, but the metal shop guys in 1983 sure thought they were...
Anyhoo, it was a huge shoutout to the mulleted, black rock tshirt wearin', grain alcohol drinkin', concert going fool I was back in the day. Ah the glory days...(puts on tape of Grim Reaper to remind himself...)
Ahhhhhh...
Wasn't Thor ours, as well?

Brian! Thor is coming to Nashville!!!
They're also going to play Lee's in Toronto. I believe that My Morning Jacket played there once or twice. Hells Bells!!
Shit, I have totally railroaded this very nice thread. Be gone Thor and your hammers...
Back to love...
Does this thread mean you still love me? :-*

Of course I still love you. (Wait, do you mean John?)
(Did you get my email?)
I should mention that everybody should look at the AWESOME car that is now my picture. If you "right" click it and "view image", you can see it in its full glory.
We saw that in a gas station just outside of Asheville after coming down from the Blue Ridge Parkway. There had just been this massive storm (which is scary on such a windy drive).
I went to my Uncle's cottage a couple of weekends ago, and I swear to god his beer fridge exactly matches that car.
awe.some.
crap it, I railroaded again. sorry, sorry. I'm just so excited to have the pictures. :-/
Sorry EC, first some more hilarious Thor-related quotes!
Often referred to as the THOR KORR, Thor's fans are a varied group who's locations span the globe.
From the old school rockers who followed Thor throughout the 70's and 80's, to the more recent fans who
were fortunate to discover him during his tours over the last few years, his audience remains loyal
and embraces the ThunderGod in all his glory
Starting out in Vancouver, THOR first made waves in the bodybuilding world, becoming Mr. Canada and Mr. USA, always using heavy music as an intensive training tool. He blended his powerful physique with powerful rock, and thus began this amazing cult legend's long reign in the hazy area between superstardom and the dark underground
THOR is still an immensely powerful man in incredible shape and a dedicated performer. Blowing up hot water bottles, bending steel, and having cinder blocks broken over his chest are all in a night's work. THOR has successfully managed to re-invent himself once again
Smog Veil Records really went above & beyond the call of duty with this CD release party, and a thunderous HAIL! goes to them.
That's not even the funniest shit. Just check out the lyrics page!
A thunderous HAIL! to you all, brothers and sisters!!!!!
Nice car by the way.
The Thor Korr. There is little in the world funnier than that shit.
I was also very appreciative of "He blended his powerful physique with powerful rock."
One of our own. Bless his heart.
He also wrote some weird sex/horror/heavy metal movie...
(Yeah, the car's good, hey?)

Well, I do believe that the chorus on their first single was this beautifully poetic and soul-strringly haunting, if not somewhat reminiscent of Mozart: "I...hate...everything about you" backed by some very (and I mean very as in "extremely") non-stereotypical crunchy powerchord arrangement. So beautiful. It's stange, how such fine musicianship can sometimes bring a tear to one's eye. I really felt every second of the song. Oh, yes, I did.
(Check out http://www.hyfntrak.com/3dg/AFF5288/go.php - the first song played is their "hit" single. Lovely)

You're too funny EC. The Mighty Thor...bless his heart.
I can't say I am at all familiar with the thunder god, but I dig his hair.
And yes, I do so dig the car.

No way...keep us guessing. It keeps the mind fresh and we continue to have fun. Actually, I have to fall in to the same leg in/leg out category as well.
