"Yeah, just in demos. There's one song in there called "War is Hell," and it was funny because Columbia was like "tempos, tempos need to be fast!" So the song was like super-super fast, and once I got into the studio with Phil [Palazzolo], he was like "Let's pretend that the song is in Twin Peaks and it's super slow. Just slow it down to a crawl." And we did it, and it changed the song so much. It made it like "Whoa, this is a serious song," it's like a Fonzie ballad, a Fonzie dancing ballad. And then we got Jim James from My Morning Jacket to sing the guy part on it. So it went from this like up-tempo Tom Pettyish pop song to this monster ballad about love gone wrong"
And the album is about how she just split with her boyfriend (http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2011/02/catching-up-with-nicole-atkins.html). OH SNAP!
Oooh interesting! :o
Hahahaha I always love the Twin Peaks references

I've watched her on Later With Jools and kinda like her music.
Sorry Penny....
Think her new album is out today. Have to say I heard Cry, Cry, Cry on the radio this a.m. and it is quite a tasty tune.
I just bought this record and it's pretty damn good -- you should totally get this, Penny! /ducking/
Her hands do appear to be somewhat strangely-sized...

Something like that... ;D
Yeah, the fair Penny has a crush on Manhands McGee.
Nicole has a new album coming and the first single has our guy Carl all over it:
Her last album Good Night Rhonda Lee is stellar and worth checking out as well.
