I haven't been on the forum much lately - is anyone coordinating the third installment of the OBH Craft Beer Extravaganza?
This sounds interesting.
yes - I've started discussing with others and will likely host (we have a suite with another couple at stage front). I'll bring the Heady Topper, Tree House and Lawsons ;)
Are you guys in MMJ Fan Club or OBF on FB? If so, I'll send out an Event Invite soon - waiting to see the music schedule and activities they will be having so we can avoid conflicts
I'm part of MMJ Fan Club on FB. Also on the OBH page as well.
I'm only on here, but we're still friends on FB, Justin.
Did you host this during OBHs 1 & 2? It seems so long ago...

I attended the first year, but I think I missed the beer share at OBH2 (probably side tracked sharing something else lol). Will def bump this post when we firm up plans so no one gets missed
now I'm going home to drink some Trillium - cheers!!!

You from the Boston area? I was reading this thread and thinking I could bring some Merlcher St that I was drinking on tap last night.

London-town based. Will try and bring something unique!
Forgive the ignorance of this infrequent flyer, but how does one go about transporting beer to the Hard Rock Riviera Maya?

pack into your checked bag.
Ah, checked bag. I managed to make it with just a carry on last time, was planning to do the same this time.
Seems simple enough, though. Thanks!

yes, cannot bring in a carry on. So you'll have to decide if it's worth it to pay for a checked bag. Also, I can't recall the amount, but you can only bring a certain amount of fluid ounces, I want to say it was the equivalent of about 3 large format bottles.

definitely checked bag - not certain on limits - an empty poster tube can double as a handy and sturdy can carrier - you can also pack individually in sealed bags and then into a soft cooler inside your checked bag. I'm hoping to bring at least 6 16-oz cans (Tree House, Trillium and Alchemist so I can share the holy trinity of NE juice bombs)

I've heard good things about Deep Ellum if you can get it
Update - I looked at TSA rules for transporting beer - definitely checked bags only and up to 3 Liters total per person is OK without declaring (and has to be below 12%ABV - rules change for alcohol over 24 proof for some reason). So, up to 6 16-oz cans or 4 750ml bottles is OK.
You could effectively double that if you're travelling as a couple (I have some doubts that Mrs. Miller wants to sacrifice the space or weight, but I'll try my best ;)

Yeah, Deep Ellum is no problem. Most of the good Texas stuff comes in 12 oz, so we should be able to bring a nice variety with 16 beers.
I'm in and can bring Atlanta/Athens beers. Probably the 2 biggest names in Georgia are Creature Comforts and the new Scofflaw beers are excellent too
I'd love to get in on this. I have a little brewery in Baltimore (www.unioncraftbrewing.com). I'll bring some suds for you guys to try. Just about to drop this next week (please don't repost anywhere yet )

Have we decided on our room for this party? I am counting on it. Also, I'm working on koozies as a gift for those attending the beer exchange. Stay tuned...
Oh, and we're waiting for the official schedule to come out right before we solidify the beer exchange?

I come from the land of IPA. Alpine duet would be my choice of local to bring. D-lish.
Did I miss an OBF event invite?

Duet is a mere shell of its former self and is now widely distributed nationally since alpine was bought out by green flash (although they don't like to call it a buyout). Alpine Nelson was at one point my favorite beer anywhere. RIP Alpine.

BOMBS! Just got a 12 varietal two days ago.....mmmmmm mmmmmm. Also got lucky & picked up a Bells Black Note.
Should we specify specific types so we have a good variety? Example, oyster stout from the coast / South Georgia brew / NE flavor / etc? I can scoop various Wicked Weed with ease which covers the Sour taste buds.

variety is good! I'll be bringing NE IPAs mostly - would be AWESOME if you brought some pernicious ;)
Count me in.
This was so great in 2015. The couple that hosted it had one of the rooftop rooms so being out there for it was great. They did it the afternoon/earl;y evening of the first day. It was great to meet so many new people before it started and made it fun seeing all the familiar faces over the weekend.

Haas there been any further discussion about the start time for this? 4pm-ish on Saturday seems to ring a bell from 2015. Also, I am happy to repost the Google Sheet I made last time, for peeps to put in the beers they intend on bringing, just to get the taste buds salivating.

We are standing by for the excursion schedule before finalizing day/time. At this point, we are targeting Monday afternoon before the Deer Tick set - maybe 2 pm start and then walk over to the lagoon for Deer Tick?
Scheduling on Saturday doesn't make sense for a variety of reasons - first day travel stress is palpable and arrival logistics/delays might box out late arrivals - this would also conflict with most people checking in and getting settled before Lucius and MMJ. I also prefer scheduling on off night for MMJ (if I'm getting shitfaced early on IPA, I'd rather be browned out for the undercards lol)
Anyway, we have a stage front suite, so plenty of room and the balcony overlooks the stage (we will be watching Kurt Vile and Gary Clark Sound checks....)
Think you have officially become the ring leader...and for that sir, I say "Thank You". Sounds like a plan to me.

We live in Baltimore and LOVE Union Craft Brewing! We are over there at least a few times a month. I'll try to find you and introduce ourselves next time we're there. Count us in for the craft beer group, probably will bring DC Brau's On the Wings of Armeggedon.
I was only at OBH1. Has the beer selection gotten better? Or is it still just Dos Equis draft only? I would love to bring some local Upstate NY/Vermont beers to this thing.

Excursions supposedly announced this week, so we will firm up Beer Share event details soon!!
I'll try to bring some wicked weed brew and some My Morning Stout!
Dumb question, maybe, but can you travel ok to mexico with beer? is there anything special you have to do or check?
I checked TSA and Cancun rules for traveling with liquids -
Bottom line is that you are limited to max of 3 Liters of alcoholic beverages under 26 proof (13% alcohol) that MUST be packed in checked baggage.
So, you can bring 4 750ml bottles, or 6 16-oz cans or 8 12-oz cans - or a mixture, but just keep it under a total of 3 Liters to avoid having to declare (and being hassled at customs).

Just found out i will be attending OBH3 and since OBH2 have gotten involved in the craft beer scene
I would love to get involved with this bottle share
Located in NYC so could easily bring some Other Half, LIC, Interboro etc
Would even entertain a trip to Treehouse in the weeks before OBH3 bc the thought of sipping those beers in Mexico is my idea of life perfection

Welcome aboard!
I'll post an update soon - excursion schedule is about to drop and we will firm up day and time to avoid as many conflicts as possible.
now that we have the schedules released (confusing as they are), I'm looking at Sunday from 3:30-5:30 for the beer exchange - right before superbowl party and doesn't conflict with any events. Our suite will be right near the Hacienda Pool and the food, so an easy transition
Any objections?
Sounds perfect!
what should the average person try to bring to the share? How many that is? I didn't make the last one
I'll see if I can bring some New Glarus.

that's per person, so if you travel with a significant other, you could bring 12.
Generally, people bring 3 or 4 beers to the event (and with 75-100 people expected, the selection should be crazy)

You can't legally bring meat into the country, but for our sake I hope you get that package across the border, El Prosciutto.
Will bring a few beers from London town.....hoping they make it across the pond. The scene is way behind the US but there are some real gems out there
