What are the odds of pit tickets being available for general sale? I'll be online at 10 am waiting.

Looks like a bit pit. I think they take out the first three sections to make the pit.

It's actually a very small pit, and the first three sections are folding chairs secured to each other, but still over grass which is nice. But even if you don't get pit or seats, the lawn there is great. Very close to the stage, good sight lines, loud crisp sound, views of downtown behind the stage. Definitely a great venue to see them.

Thats cool I guess. From the limited google searches I did, it looked like they take all the orchestra sears out for a pit configuration.

When they played there two years ago, I had second row seats and I didn't remember any pit section at all.

Anyone else have intel?

I think you're right unravelled. I was on the second row too (Jim's side). It looked like a pretty small area between the barrier and the stage, but they could change it pretty easily too, I guess.

I'm just super grateful to have snagged a pit ticket and that our laminates from last year will get us in early!

The pit at Ascend is actually pretty nice and they don't oversell it so there's room to move around and have a good time.  I've seen WSP, Jacket and Ray Lamontagne from there and it is always a lot of fun.

How much were the tickets? They were all sold out when I checked.

So my wife and I are taking a trip to Nashville this summer; ironically it paired up with the weekend MMJ is in town.

Missed out on early tickets; since we're making a trip out of it I want some decent seats. If anyone has two spare tickets for sale, get ahold of me! Pit or decent pavilion seats! I would be forever grateful :)

There's no bad seats at this venue, seriously. Buy two pavilion seats now if you can.
I was near the back of the lawn and could see everything. The sound is pretty perfect at this venue too.

Seconded. I was on the lawn for their 2015 show (when they opened with OBH, which was a treat in itself) and it was my favorite Jacket show besides Iroquois. The view of both the stage and downtown Nashville are unbeatable. Can't go wrong here man.

A few weeks ago before the official announcement, a person or two posted of two potential Nashville shows.  They sounded confident.   Any of those posters have insight if another show will be added? I'd say it's possible..... I remember in '15 it took them a while after announcing the first two nights at the Beacon before they added the third and fourth nights. And the seats at Ascend are almost sold out, which is not the case for Raleigh or Charlotte.

Would have to be before the scheduled July 7 show, since they are already playing July 8 & 9 in NC

No. I bought tickets for both Cincinnati (6/22/17) and Nashville (7/7/17) and have only gotten an e-mail notice that my Cincinnati tickets were on the way and should be at my address on 5/22/17. No mention of Nashville yet.

Where is everybody staying? Driving up from ATL solo, the wife can't make it. Need to find a good hotel downtown. Preferably walking distance to the amphitheater and stumbling distance fro.

Hotels downtown in Nashville are pretty expensive but there some walking distance from the venue. I did airbnb last time I stayed in Nashville and found that to be way more affordable. We stayed over by Vanderbilt and took uber to this same venue. Pretty easy city to get around in without driving.

Martins - best meat in town, imo. The Wings w/ Alabama Sauce are to die for.
Eldey's - best sides in town, imo. The grits, the greens and the baked beans are all amazing.
G'z BBQ - it's on the East Side, it's more of a hole in the wall, but great ribs, great pork shoulder.

Bars / Food (near venue):
Bar Sovereign - new(ish) bar. Kinda become a hot spot lately, but great spot for good cocktails. Lots of funky decorations / great music.
ACME Feed & Seed - kinda a tourist trap, but love their rooftop over the river. and it's right next to the venue.

- Dinos. This is a staple on the east side. A diner / bar - great fries, cold beer and great tunes.
- Hermitage Cafe - breakfast diner kinda downtown...nothing fancy, not even that good, but somehow I always end up here.
- Crying Wolf - serves up food till midnight. Tater tots, burgers, etc.

We got a Martin's in Louisville a few months ago too! We go there more than we should. It was recommended to me and we ate there in Nashville a few times in the last few years. They make a great cheeseburger too if you're ever there and not feeling like BBQ.  :thumbsup:

It really depends on the kind of bar you're into, these are all pretty different. ACME has multiple levels, but is right on lower Broadway, the main touristy strip, and is always packed. Most bars on lower Broadway will be crowded and have some live music going on though. Where are you staying?

If you want to go to Broadway and do the Honky Tonks...GO TO ROBERTS WESTERN WORLD! this is the crown jewel of Broadway. It shares the alley of The Ryman, and The Ryman's green room door is literally 5 steps from Roberts back door. This has made for many memorable nights at Roberts...I've seen Steve Earle, Gillian Welch, Willie Watson, J.D. Simo, etc all hop up on stage and do a song. It's one of the few places you'll catch locals at on Broadway.

If you want to get out of downtown, I'd head over to the East Side. This is more of your hipster area of town...lots of musicians live here, artists live here, young families.

Couple bars on the East Side:

Dukes (always spinning vinyl - cool hang - make grilled sammies late night)
Mickys (darts, pool, food next door - gets pretty packed on weekends)
Crying Wolf (pool, loud hipster bar, but good scene)
Urban Cowboy (google this...amazing outdoor area, fire pit, craft cocktails, all around cool hang)
Bar Rosemarry (new bar, in a craftsmen style home - never been, but heard it's rad)

If you want to just go to an area...tell your cab driver to "take you to 5 Points" and wonder around. theres an amazing pizza slice joint "5 Points Pizza", numerous bars, etc. you'll be able to find a spot you like.

Thanks for the tips on a good bar. I'm at the Sheraton in downtown so will probably stay in the downtown area. Am coming solo and flying in right before the show so won't have a chance to come to the meetup before.

I try to go to 5 Points Pizza every time I go to Nashville. If they're open late that will be a good idea after the show.

We are driving from Louisville and driving back after the show! We've done it before, just easier than getting a hotel a dog sitter sometimes.

this place is incredible! I've only been to Nashville once, and randomly stumbled upon this place and went back multiple times over the course of a week. Absolutely loved it.

My mother broke her ankle, so I had to stay here in Kentucky and couldn't attend this show, which should be getting underway right about now, but my + 1 (Brother Matt), who lives in Nashville was able to attend.

From what I've seen on Facebook, there were only 125 Status Serigraph show posters made available, and they were not enforcing any purchase limit, so they ran out real quick.

Ascend Amphitheater is a perfect venue with perfect sound. Crowd was well behaved and great around us. Jim called it a "hometown show" and from the stage they were staring at a full moon in a clear sky. No rain at all! We got lucky!

seems short, was it a curfew ??? they should play places witout one, SLC had one, too, they added a song to the setlist but they were up against a harrrrd 10:30 curfew...i hate em....it ruins the majesty

Yes, hard 11 pm curfew. It was a little disappointing having that quick of an encore but trust me, the regular set was so stunning that it hardly felt like a loss. This show came out strong as hell

THAT Just One Thing is my favorite Just One Thing EVER....it finally replaces Bonnaroo 2005 as my favorite. What an epic Just One Thing....holy hell. Break out a few more shadowy songs, like How Do You Know / How COuld I know, They Ran, Sooner, Sweetheart, Come Closer etc, even if it's just one or two a show and they rotate them. Just One Thing makes the whole rest of the setlist pop. We need to hear this show.

also, is it just me, or is everyone else getting sick of them ending with OBH ad nauseum? Circuital and Victory Dance played at EVERY show??? I love these songs, but.....stuff like Wordless, Off The Record, Circuital as epic as it is (would be more epic if it'd make a rare appearance as an encore or second song in the set etc. ) and Victory Dance (in my top 10 Jacket songs) are overplayed. I love the Jacket, just like everyone else, I just want them to mix it up a bit more. There should never be something as a "common or generalized" Jacket set. Every show IS special, just because of the delivery of the band, the energy they give us. But, I'd just like to see more rarities and more rotation. Although, if you're a fan of certain songs that are getting repeated, that'd be a treat for you, I guess, to see Victory Dance every show. It sounds like such a pisstake complaint, I'm just venting

also, is it just me, or is everyone else getting sick of them ending with OBH ad nauseum? Circuital and Victory Dance played at EVERY show??? I love these songs, but.....stuff like Wordless, Off The Record, Circuital as epic as it is (would be more epic if it'd make a rare appearance as an encore or second song in the set etc. ) and Victory Dance (in my top 10 Jacket songs) are overplayed. I love the Jacket, just like everyone else, I just want them to mix it up a bit more. There should never be something as a "common or generalized" Jacket set. Every show IS special, just because of the delivery of the band, the energy they give us. But, I'd just like to see more rarities and more rotation. Although, if you're a fan of certain songs that are getting repeated, that'd be a treat for you, I guess, to see Victory Dance every show. It sounds like such a pisstake complaint, I'm just venting

this is never going to change.  they aren't a grateful dead/phish type of band and they never will be.  if you want the deep cuts you have to hit the 3 or 4 night runs.  that's the only way, unless they are feeling loose one night but it seems rare these days.

Yea, for the 6 shows so far this tour especially, just very little variation night to night.

anyone else notice the sound problems in the beginning...loud popping from either the bass or the drum? it got fixed during PWW, but before that it was pretty bad.

maybe the weather fucking stuff up? the wind? because Ryan does his job very well, I really reckon the Jacket are the greatest sounding live band I've ever heard, someone could record them from a toilet in the bathroom in a plastic bag from a shitty phone from 2005 and it'd still sound amazing. But that could've been where you were standing or something strange was going on that they couldn't control, sometimes that shit happens.

I was in the pavilion 11-12 rows back.

Same as LBSUNFLWR - I was row P, slightly off-center, and didn't hear anything.

I have one question:  I've seen every MMJ show in Nashville since 2004.  When will Nashville get a multi-show run? 

It's been 11 years since their Ryman show, and artists like Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell have done MULTIPLE multi-night runs there, so why not the boys?

The pit was rocking!  I rocked out the whole show at the back of the pit with my daughter and a great guy named Shane who I met earlier that night. Sooooo many friendly faces and there was a great sense of community.

It was an OK show. Setlist started out pretty crazy and then quickly devolved into a rather bland outing overall, save Just One Thing.  I'm disappointed we got 2 covers even if they were the band basically covering the band (Carried Away, State of the Art) in lieu of War Begun and IWSYS. Especially since they could've probably played 2 or 3 songs in the time it took them to jam out both CA and SotA. All this is not to say i didn't have a great time or that the show was bad, it was far from it. They sounded great, looked to be having a blast, but it just wasn't all that either. I've seen them play better sets and I've seen them play worse. One of those.

Oh and yes, they should absolutely play a different set every night.  It's not even a debate.

Disagree completely. One of my favorite shows I've seen and the band was on fire. As the review put it, I was blissed out completely.

Eh..may have to agree to disagree as I don't want to be argumentative. I do understand the desire to turn MMJ into the Dead as far as setlist variation but they've really never been that type of band so that could be an unfair criticism. This is coming from someone that has seen them over 35 times.

I do try to critique them on performance and I thought they slayed it in Nashville but if course, that is subjective. Love the mahgheeta opener, just one thing (personal white whale), great wonderful then carried away. Everything after that was just gravy. The pit was eating it up.
