The Districts are absolutely phenominal. My two favorite bands in one night is my dream come true. As for the venue, it's solid. Nothing spectacular but serves its purpose.

Any locals or folks who have seen the boys in Columbus before have a sense of how quickly this date will sell out? I believe the venue is 5000 cap right? I'm just asking because I'm trying to focus on getting early tix to Cincy and Nashville since this one is all GA and I have a laminate, and would prefer to buy tickets for this show closer to the summer when I know whether my brother can go with me or not.

Considering there's no deluxe roll call available, is there any way to get one of those laminates?

Unfortunately I don't think so...they're going to let us in with our ones from last yr is my understanding. If you don't have the 2016 one your best bet is to find a Roll Caller without a +1 which shouldn't be too tough

I live near the venue and its one of my favs. Small and intimate. At the Aug '12 show, Jim was going on about the good vibes he experiences when playing here.  If you have your tickets in advance, go in through the rear lawn entrance.  Can't wait.

Agreed.  This is one of my favorite outdoor venues.  I've seen many shows here including my first Jacket show many years ago.  The boys seem to always put on a good setlist in C'bus and as was noted above, that show from 2012 was arguably one of the best single night shows I've seen with a wicked closer of Steam that to this day, I'm pissed that a recording has never surfaced...

Agreed on Steam. Funny you say that... I have it on disc.  A taper had his gear set up directly in front of me.  He asked if I was cool with that and I said sure but could you send me a recording:)  Its decent quality as long as the volume is up.  Message me your info and I'll burn you copy.  Or I'll try to figure out how to upload it somewhere.

Wasnt that the show with Come Closer?  There is someone on here who talks about that show at least once a week, either LonDown or DontGetUpset (both are verbally animated and sorry if i butchered your names), and they are going to explode if they ever get wind of this.

Hey guys, I'm new here!
I'm going to this show, and I couldn't be more excited because it will be my first MMJ concert!
I was wondering: Will the band make new roll call deluxe packages available before the show? Otherwise, is any of you guys willing to make me their +1? I'll buy you dinner !!

GO BLUE!!!

I've actually worn Michigan gear to the venue before and no one has said a word to me except other Michigan fans in the crowd giving me a GO BLUE!

Living in Ohio as a Michigan fan, I've grown accustomed to the ribbing.   C'bus is actually not that bad of a town outside of the fact that it is home to OSU...

This is my FAVORITE venue (Used to be called The LC) in Columbus...I've attended all 4 shows here and completely agree with what was mentioned earlier... that 2012 show is up there with Red Rocks for me.
If anyone has a recording of that show...I'd love to hear it, it's still the best version of Steam Engine I've ever heard!!!
I'll be there with 5 others...We did the Cincinnati & Cleveland shows and heading out to NYC for the Forest Hills show next week!!

Guys - there was talk in this thread back in March of that Brock guy uploading this show and sharing the link... he didn't share a link, but look what I found buried on archive (uploaded around that time!)

https://archive.org/details/MMJ2012-08-12

It's a torrent and I am at work so haven't been able to see if it's still active, but I would suggest someone jump on it, like, ASAP.

Right, that top is the preview, where you stream stuff. There is a torrent available for download, however, on the right hand side. If anyone has a torrent client they can still try to download and see if any files are available. If not I'll try when I get home, but it won't be for awhile.

I know dood i am praying to the Jacketheavens nonstop for this to come on down and save us from 2017, seriously this blast from the past would be so welcome right now. Maybe it would invigorate the band into playing Come Closer and Sweetheart, weird oddities like that, Can You See The Hard Helmet On My Head etc

Hey man.  Sorry I did try to upload it a few months ago.  I'm not very savvy when it comes to uploading stuff online and for some reason it didn't work.  Tried and tried but work and personal life crap came up and put it on the back burner.  What I can do is burn a copy and mail it to you.  That is if you don't mind giving address.

i've already, with much trepidation, sent him my mailing address. If there's any issues I don't mind defending or protecting myself from whatever bullshit it could negatively be, but I'm in solid hopes that he sends me two or three burned discs and they ACTUALLY turn out to be what we hope and then share them with all of you lovely people immediately.

I did ask him where he got these shows, why couldn't the person who gave him them just upload them since he's obviously okay with sharing the show? I asked him a few questions that I better get good answers to. I dunno guys. What say you?

Brock are you a troll or are you a real fan?

  :undecided:

if you do wind up getting this, PLEASE pm me ASAP.

I'm thinking about hitting up Hoof Hearted or Land Grant Brewery before the show if anyone is interested in a pre show meet up...

I believe they have an 11pm curfew.  Saw the Pixies there earlier this summer and they stopped right around 11.  They've build a ton of condos down around the arena and I'm sure that has a lot to do with the strict curfew...

We're camping north of town for the night.  Hoping to get downtown between 4 and 5 pm or so.  I'll post when I decide which brewery we're headed to or you could just let us know where you end up robb...

Think I got it.  Sorry for the wait.  Enjoy.  No troll here bro.  In fact I'll be sitting in my vendor's box seats for tomorrow's show.

Only issue is its missing the first 3 songs - Heartbreakin', First Light, Black Metal.  Sucks but the show didn't start to kick in until Xmas anyway.

I know I'm going to have poster drama (again) tomorrow. I'm at the mercy of locals who are nonchalant and perpetually late. Can any of you fine people potentially grab me one? Can offer a round of beers and pen hits (plus poster cost) thanks everyone!

I'm not one to complain about setlists, and sure, there are always gonna be songs I want to get at a show and others I'm not as thrilled about when they're played. However, I respect artists talent and right to choose what they want to play on a given night and when I'm at a show, I'm thrilled to be there seeing them perform live.

Having said that, and looking at last nights setlist and seeing (end of) Run Thru instead of a full Run Thru I can't help but be bummed. I can't stand when it's done like that and would prefer a full Run Thru every 4-5 shows than a balls cut off "end of" every show. For me, a big part of what makes that song so amazing is the first part and lead into the ending.

I've seen other bands do similar things with songs and I feel the same way then. Either do the whole thing or not but "part of" never works for me.

I hear ya.

I'm a big Genesis fan, mostly their early, and middle era stuff.  They have a classic tune, one of their epics called Suppers Ready. It's a whole album side and about 23 minutes long.

I was fortunate enough to see it done live several times back in the day but one tour, in I want to say the late 80's /early 90's at MSG they did a couple of sections of it. Lasted about 9 minutes and I was like WTF? Why? The sections they did were great but it was sacrilidge to cut the balls off of that tune. People ate it up that night because many had never seen it live and were happy with even some of it but to me and many others it missed more than it gave. Some tunes should just not be messed with. All or nothing,IMO and RunThru is one of em.

Really dug the show last night.  I always feel like they just bring it when they play that venue.  The energy in that place last night was freaking electric, from the fans to the band!

And Jim even gave us some banter including how he loves to pay a visit to the 2 elephants who reside at 'Good Ale' park as he referred to it!!!

When I was thinking back to that 2012 performance and reliving it on the drive down, it hit me that they hadn't played that venue since that epic night in 2012 and they definitely brought it again last night!  Maybe not quite the epic setlist but they sure played their asses off!!!

And having seen them earlier on the tour in Cleveland, last night was head and shoulders above what I saw in Cleveland.  I really think the guys feed off of the energy of the crowd and I just didn't get that electricity from the crowd in Cleveland that was evident from the first note all the way through last night in C'bus!

Highlight of the show for me was Gentle on My Mind > Golden and Jim explaining how mind blown he was the first time he heard that song and how it inspired him to write Golden!  Gave me chills!!!

Agreed with Beer.  I had the same experience.  They seemed so in sync and the energy was so reminiscent of 2012.  Its certainly the venue.  Saw them in Cbus in 2015 at the Palace and the vibe was no where near the same.

Probably the highlight of my night was bringing another couple with us for their first show.  They are fans of good music but, until last night, they weren't big MMJ fans.  Had two extra tickets and invited them along.  They were in a state of shock and awe on the drive home.
Was cool to witness that.

Always fun to bring newbies to a MMJ show. You can try and try but you cannot explain this band to someone, they just have to witness it for themselves before they get it. Glad you got two more hooked

This was my 8th show (9th? I'd have to do some serious thinking) and I decided to bring my uncle who has great taste in music. He was pretty much unfamiliar with all their material and didn't want to get there too early. We started past the pit area and wound up right in front of Carl after people cleared out in before the encore. He left comparing them to when he saw the Who and the Kinks (his favorite bands) in their prime.

OHHHHHH Shit Run, I agree, that song starts with that one guitar note by Carl that is bone chilling and you know immediately what's coming. Do not cut it in half. My first and only "Rollin Back" was a 1:08 intro then cut off into "The Way He Sings" it was like getting kicked in the ....'s

End of Run Thru needs to DIE. That is all.

Fully agree.  That being said, of the 5 or 6 I've seen, it was the best (end of) run thru by a wide margin.  Seemed to have a whole other energy

I took my poster outside and propped it up against the remains of a really big tree we got cut down recently (wanted to avoid most of the reflections on the glass/plastic I was getting in the house). This one is fantastic! It also goes very well with our living room/dining room decorations/carpet, etc. Thanks Clinton! We love you!
