A new Yo La Tengo?? I must go investigate this.

Also going to pick up a couple Broken Social Scene albums, and the new Nathaniel Rateliff album.

I'm really digging 7 by Beach House. I didn't get into their last couple of albums as they seemed a bit samey but they sound rejuvenated on this one. It's great!

In case I haven't been clear here, on Facebook, or Twitter...

My favorite album of the year thus far is Middle Western's debut, "When Your Demons Are Underground... and You've Got to Dig Them Up."

http://forum.mymorningjacket.net/index.php/topic,21367.0.html

Buy the CD here, or wait for the vinyl repressing.

Courtney Barnett - Tell Me How You Really Feel
John Prine - Tree of Forgiveness

...those are my two favorite albums of the year so far.  Definitely will be in my Top 5 I would imagine.

Very interested to hear the new Father John Misty.  The first single is great. "Jason Isbell's here and he seemed a little worried about you.."  HAhah

I still don't know if the whole pompous, ego-maniac routine is an act (though I suspect it is not), but my god this guy can write a song like nobody else I can think of right now.

Another favorite of this year

he's very much like Kanye at this point in that you aren't sure where the persona ends and the person begins and that they are both supremely talented individuals who are very polarizing.

Listened to this album a few times on a road trip last week and he always has some lines that blow my mind like this line:

People, we know so little about ourselves
But just enough to wanna be nearly anybody else
How does that add up?

Couple of new entries from me:

Lykke Li - so sad so sexy - I'm not a huge lover of pop music but I've been a fan of hers since she started (she started as a much more 'Alternative' singer) this record has grown on me a lot. Despite the very pop and current surrounding production it's full of lovely melodies and hooks.

Florence + The Machine - High As Hope - This one hasn't grabbed me as instantly as her past releases but there are a couple of songs I already love and some others are growing on me. There's a song called Grace which I keep going back to again and again, it's really beautiful and haunting.

Tickets booked to see them both in London this November! Lykke at Brixton Academy which is a great venue and Florence at the 02 Arena, I'm not usually a fan of Arena shows but I saw Arcade Fire at Wembley this year and it was honestly one of the best gigs I've been to so I'm starting to become less skeptical of large venues!

Marcus King Band - Carolina Confessions

His studio recordings are a mere shadow of what he and his band do live, but this new record showed some improved song composition, in my view.
