Title: Margo Price
Post by: ChiefOKONO on Aug 16, 2018, 11:48 AM
Anyone here getting into her?  I just got a couple albums and they are fantastic.. old school country vibe.

I'd highly recommend her if you are into Emmylou Harris and the like.
Fun fact, I just saw that Sturgill Simpson played in one of her old bands!

Yes! I have her last cd, "All American Made". Got an autographed copy from Newbury.

Love it and Willie Nelson makes an appearance on the cd as well.

Heard "Do Right By Me" on the radio (remember those??) and was hooked.

EDIT: How's the first record???

The first one is really great... a bit more country-ish if you will.  Right now I don't know which one I like better - really digging it after 4-5 listens.  I am planning to get the EP also.

Ahhh radio, if only it was still as great as it was in the past.

Margo Price is incredible! Had heard the name before but hadn't listened to too much, just saw her perform with Widespread Panic at LOCKN this weekend and she killed it! Covered a Joplin song

That cover was EPIC! Her set at Forecastle was pretty incredible too, her albums are fun but her live shows are so much better.

When she opened for the Jacket in Nashville, she was very good. Her band can jam too

Dug her at that show.  Stoked to see her again in October with Willie Nelson at the Hollywood Bowl.

Totally agree.  I also picked up her new Live at the Ryman album last Friday.  Real good as well.

This album really is fantastic.  She has a pretty solid interview on the Broken Record podcast.

Completely off topic, that is a really awesome podcast and a great rabbit hole to head down.  Rick Rubin's episodes tend to be my favorites.  He doesn't do the Margo interview but that one is still well worth the listen.

i need to go back to this podcast. Gladwell doesn't do it for me in a podcast form but the ep they did on the making of Petty's Wildflowers was immensely interesting.

Gladwell doesn't do many episodes after season 1 and Rick Rubin ups his portion.  There are certainly a few misses but the majority are good.  The other guy (I forget his name) isn't as good but still has some decent interviews.  It also seems like this podcast has made it onto the PR circuit so there are more big names making appearances.

https://brokenrecordpodcast.com/

It should be available on all the big name platforms (Spotify, apple, google, stitcher).

https://pushkin.fm/#shows - this is for all the shows under produced by Malcolm Gladwell's company.  There are some other solid non-music shows.
