Post by: parkervb on Jul 17, 2020, 02:14 PM
from Jambase:

QuoteThe New York Guitar Festival shared video of My Morning Jacket's Jim James covering Reverend Gary Davis. James chose to tackle Davis' "Soon My Work Will All Be Done."

The performance comes as part of Set 2 of NYGF's Reverend Gary Davis: In Search of the Harlem Street Singer online series. Other performers for Set 2 included Chris Thile on "Samson & Delilah" and Davis disciple Dave Bromberg (who performs tonight). Set 1 saw performances from Warren Haynes and more. For Jim James' contribution, the MMJ frontman played "Soon My Work Will All Be Done" on banjo, an instrument Davis also played along with guitar.

I love this so much!!  The change to "Heavens Golden Shore" there at the end was a nice touch.
