Yeah, it wasn't looking good at first though. I arranged for a co-worker to cover the front desk this morning as I tried logging in right when tickets were up for sale (my work opens at the exact time tickets went on sale), and I thought it would be simple. I got to work early before we opened just to get logged in and prepared for the 10:00 a.m. on-sale. I was in the que/line and got to where I had the ticket ready to purchase, but I got an error saying the device I was using wasn't responding and didn't recognize me. I tried again and again and then tried on my phone. I couldn't figure it out and looked like a mostly white screen with no button to push to make the purchase or even the selection. Then I got on a different computer in the back office and was able to secure my one and only ticket to the show. My friend and my brother will probably not be able to go though. My friend got a Waterfront Park ticket late in the day yesterday but never got the email with the link and code for today (guess the 2,500 ticket threshold had already been reached at that point). My brother was wanting me to probably get him one or maybe try on the re-sale market himself. I don't do the re-sale thing, so I hope he has luck ... but I doubt he will.
Also, I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts or insight as to if there will be any sort of Early Entry for this General Admission show at the Iroquois Amphitheater. I do know it was originally supposed to be Bundled with the Waterfront Park show, and you did have to purchase a ticket for that show, but there was no VIP option for the Iroquois show. The link and description for the original Waterfront Park tickets said "Multi-show", so I was wondering (and hoping) if the VIP ticket I purchased would allow for Early Entry. I know it was way, way too expensive for me to have invested in, especially since I did that for my wife and I for the St. Louis show and don't need any more "stuff", but just getting in 30 minutes early was worth it to me, so I could get the show poster and other stuff at the merchandise table. This time with the Waterfront Park show being all General Admission, I knew I had to do the same thing to get close to the rail and possibly get a show poster too. What do you all think about the Iroquois Amphitheater show for Early Entry?

The only mention of early entry that I have seen is with the VIP travel package which was a big part of why we went for it (another big part was not having to deal with TM for exactly the reasons that y'all ran into). But no telling if that will actually happen although I'm hoping if we use the shuttle that will be the key to unlocking the early entry door. And that begs the question can we bring a friend or two on the shuttle? :grin:

cgreen + 19 = 20 * 100 / 2400 = 0.8333% of Iroquois capacity 4 more tickets and it would be 1%. Looks like there's about 34 other folks the list above which works out to about 2.25% of the place!

We all somehow got lucky. It was a stressful couple a days with the initial onsale debacle but everyone managed to end up getting through to purchase tickets.

true that any seat is a good seat, but my group will definitely be lining up in time to at least grab seats under the roof. rough guess is half the seats are covered, half uncovered.

I'm coming into town Thursday and finally going to get a chance to get to Churchill Downs as they're having Twilight racing on Thursday night. First race is at 5:00 PM.
Missed out on getting there my last couple of times in Louisville and lucked out with the Twilight card this time. Definitely going over for a couple of races.

You should try to check out the Kentucky Derby Museum there at Churchill Downes. It closes at 5 p.m., so I'm not sure it will work out with your plans or not. It's really cool. I went in 2007 and again in 2014. Each year, they update the video to highlight the previous year's Kentucky Derby winner. It's a 360 degree oval multi-screen experience.

saw trey anastasio at the amphitheater last night. caught a break with the weather, very nice evening. great show. watching the deliriously happy phish fans (and one dude who was tripping balls) was almost as entertaining as the music.
first time i've seen them park cars waaaay out on the frisbee golf course. not a fan. uneven ground, my civic bottomed out a couple times. we were late arriving and ended up parking pretty far back, which meant being pinned in forever trying to get out.
being on the east side of iroquois hill, the entire amphitheater (save one stubborn shaft of sunlight left of stage) is in the shade by 7:30. that should make friday's show a bit more bearable.

I was there too last night, slappymoe! My seat was right beside the front edge of the soundboard platform. I stayed there for the first hour and then moved up to the very top where there were lots of empty seats. I took one video of a short song from my original seat and about 36 minutes of the last part of the show from the very top. If anyone wants to watch those, I zoom out a few times to show what the seating looks like and the general layout of the place.

I was at Iroquois for Trey also.
Based on the lines for drinks, etc I thought the show was sold out. When I saw later how many empty seats were there I was shocked. They are going to be in for it Friday night.
Moral of this story, get there early!!

It's up to the artist or band whether or not they want it to be General Admission. MMJ did this for both Iroquois Amphitheater shows back in May of 2016. I went both nights with a couple of family members for both shows and got in early with Roll Call membership after having stood in line for a long time (different line for Roll Call). We were on the 3rd row for both shows (not counting the standing room only cluster of PIT folks who were standing up against the Rail in front of the seats). Most artists use the assigned seating option, from most all of my other Iroquois Amphitheater show experiences, but not all.

Gonna be a tough decision. How badly does one want to be up close? I suspect that will require getting there very early and standing in line in the blazing sun for quite a while.
Anything under the roof is a great seat, imo. I'm sure my group will be there in time to score covered seats.

I contacted Production Simple and they said doors were at 5:00 and openers start at 6:00. There will be two separate. The River City Drum Corps is a local youth drum corp. I've seen them at perform at Forecastle a couple times and they are great. I thinks it's really cool that the band is having them open. https://www.rivercitydrumcorpky.org/

I hear ya. Too be honest I don't need two more backpacks, but would love the early entry on Friday. But I most did the package to avoid having to Uber and find transportation after the shows.
My wife works as a school counselor so we can always find a home for backpacks! Definitely agree with the transportation piece having a nice air conditioned bus will be awesome after the Iroquois show.

I am and still waiting on the info email from CID. I've done their packages in the past and they usually send out checkin info, times, place etc at least a week in advance but so far nothing.
I'm sure we will get everything they promised, including early entry. That and the transportation to Iroquois were the things that made me do the package again.

:cry: :cry: Keeping all of yall beautiful people and Yim in my thoughts right now. So many people in our midst have dealt with cancelled MMJ (and other) shows since our "return" from the lockdown. With this one being a destination for those privileged enough to travel many people are suffering their 4th, 5th, 6th cancellations all from Covid. I'm so sorry for yall that had flights and rental cars and hotels and all that. I couldn't make it to L'ville this time, but after three other shows getting cancelled I was at least able to still catch another couple last year, and jeebus-willin' a couple more this year. The pain is real yall and I'm with you!
Just like Bonnaroo last year, imagining all the work that went into getting these shows ready, all those local kids and artists that were going to get to have blast in front a huge adoring crowd, the crew, band families, etc. it's depressing.
I'm not usually a silver lining person, but my immediate thought for reschedule is to finally bring one or two of them amazing NEW YEAR'S EVE SHOWS to the hometown. NYC, Denver and Boston have all had theirs, they are so overdue for it, and what a way to ring out another miserable year of infections and cancellations. Here's to all you wonderful fans :beer: and best wishes to Yim for speedy recovery.

I'm so glad you made the best of it ericm. I was kind of in shock yesterday but not too sad. As I communicated with a couple of friends last night, I realized how much of a disruption of their lives and hopes for a really cool vacation this whole thing has turned out to be. I'm very sad now, but I hope I can turn it around with tomorrow's Our Good River Climate Parade in downtown Louisville that I will be taking part in. It will be soul-lifting and life-affirming.
Also, Carl announced that he would be doing a combination show with Tyler Ramsey at Zanzabar on July 28th. I immediately secured a ticket for the show. Now, I have to ask to leave work an hour early, so I can drive up in time to see the show. Looks like Tyler Ramsey is the headliner with Carl opening. Hopefully, they will both collaborate for several songs during each other's sets like they did on the last tour I saw them together.
Yes Mr. White it was all those things. I looked back and saw this was all planned four months ago. I and am sure a lot of others here had been looking forward to this getaway and rocking some hometown shows but life happens and we just have to deal as best we can.
I had a really fun day yesterday after putting the initial big time bummer behind me and really hope they can reschedule somehow and I'll be able to make those dates.
I remain optimistic all of that will happen and I can return to Louisville again soon

Yes a big disappointment all around. I have no doubt the guys will do everything they can to pull this off at some point.
They always seem to come through and make things right. Whether it's a show, a ticket snafu or whatever the setback, they find a way to make it right. I'm sure this will be no different.

Just made it back home. We drove across the US 31 bridge and you could see them taking down the stage at Waterfront Park. How fucking depressing is that?!?!?!?! The same stage that Patrick and his daughter were to share tomorrow...
As bad as we feel I have no doubt the band and family and friends feel worse. Five shows in a row cancelled now for us so here's hoping everyone can pull out of this funk and get in some shows next week!

Yes I did and they immediately sent an email about refunding the package. It'll take a day or two to show up on my card but it's taken care of. They also handled the Denver NYE cancellation just as quick.
It was my understanding they also covered tonight's stay at the Hyatt for people who bought the package. Had I known before I rebooked my flight home I'd have stayed another day but I found out too late.
A rep from CID was at the hotel desk last night when I was there and and hooked me up with a little VIP swag instead. All in all I have no complaints with how CID does their packages. Other than I wish they were cheaper but that's no different than most things these days and I know they're in business to make money so I really don't have a problem with them.
Really hoping Meadowbrook still happens but I'm not getting my hopes up.

but is that too close to red rocks? just 5 weeks between multiple night destination shows?
on the other hand, wouldn't they want to get these shows done while the touring machinery is up and running?

When I bought Jim's first solo album re-issue Deluxe Edition from Bandcamp the other day, I was given the option to send the artist (Jim) a message with my purchase. I suggested that they try to do a 2 or 3 night run at the KFC Yum! Center for New Year's Eve instead of traveling out to Colorado. I doubt he reads those messages, but it's worth a shot. I personally don't want to have to be continually monitoring the weather during the weeks leading up to any outdoor shows. The unpredictability of the weather was also keeping my brother away from the Waterfront Park show. Make the KFC Yum! Center General Admission and put the tickets on sale now.

Obviously we would LOVE LOVE LOVE a hometown NYE run but I would imagine (a big) part of the attraction for most folks is the travel destination and frankly Louisville doesn't have much to offer for a three night run especially in the winter. Plus Louisville doesn't have a new "cool" venue like Mission Ballroom. Yum Center is probably too big and The Palace would be super cool but it's pretty small. I've been to a show at the place where UoL used to play basketball (can't remember what it's called) but it's big and not so good for music.
I'm not sure how this is going to work out but I have complete confidence that our boys are working on something to fill the gap that was left when they had to cancel. Denver is fun and it has lots things to do during the day, but like Mr White says weather can be big trouble in the winter especially in that part of the world. Hmmmmm.....
My preference would be to reschedule the exact same combo of shows/venues. I was really looking forward to both venues and what each had to offer. I understand the indoor sentiment but that's certainly not what lured me to make the trek.

I agree 100% with one addition. Billy Strings has three sold out shows at Iroquois coming up and obviously MMJ has plenty of demand for shows there so how about adding a show or two at Iroquois followed by the big Waterfront Park party?
Louisville Palace Theatre is a freaking gem. We were lucky enough to see Circuital there (thank you Roll Call) and we also saw Monsters Of Folk there which was our first JJ/MMJish live show. If MMJ were to put on a multi night run The Palace it would be amazing. Have they ever done that?

I get your logic as far as dependability and ticket access for the masses, but the Yum Center is the last place in town I want to see any band. I have not been to an arena show in decades, not counting the NYE shows in Broomfield. That place seemed about half the size as Yum, and sounded perfect. On the other hand, I have walked to the Yum Center to vote during covid, so proximity is a plus. I guess I am spoiled with the small and mid sized venues here that draw some pretty good bands where I have not been tempted to go to a giant NBA sized arena. If weather was not an issue, the new soccer stadium looks perfect for an MMJ show.

I bought the Diptych a while back and I do like the others as well. I didn't know about the profits going to those causes and it's tipped the scales for me towards buying those too.
Most if not all of us took some type of loss for those shows. If buying these helps set off some of it for the artists as well as helps out some good causes then it's a no brainer for me to do a little something to help out.
I doubt I'll ever hang 'em because they never took place but now I'm thinking maybe I'll pick up the Mission Ballroom one and start a little corner of MMJ posters of shows I had tix to that were either canceled or I missed for health reasons. Lol. I already have the Wiltern ones from the Roll Call three pack show VIP that I couldn't get to but was sent the posters anyway. :thumbsup: Hopefully it'll be a small corner of posters and not get any bigger!

Cricket Press of Lexington, Kentucky designed this limited edition show poster for My Morning Jacket's Sold Out Iroquois Amphitheater concert originally scheduled for June 24, 2022. This is my framed show poster #81 of 185. 100% of the proceeds go to the local (Louisville, Kentucky) non-profit charity Change Today, Change Tomorrow.
I bought all these posters also and like you Eric am not framing them, going in with my canceled NYE posters too. I really like these posters and I'm glad to help out the people that the proceeds go to. My guess is the band still has to pay the artists for these weather or not the show(s) happen. I'm scheduled for the next show in Redmond then the Red Rocks shows shortly afterwards, hoping not to add more canceled show posters to the collection.

Yeah, I got that one too. I like it a lot. I haven't decided if I will frame it or not or hang it in the house or not though. We only have a few show posters hanging up on the walls in the house because our house is pretty small. I have started putting quite a few up in the basement lately though. We painted all the walls white to make it seem lighter down there, so I've been framing the lighter colored ones in white frames to keep it all the same (my wife is more ok with this plan). Most of the ones I've framed and put up are the more cartoon or illustrated kinds with light colors. The only ones up in the main part of the house are the Americanarama limited edition one from the 2013 Nashville show I took my brother to with a drawing of Bob Dylan as a farmer in a field with a tractor in the background. I got this super special poster from JohnnyYac several years ago. The other one is a western styled drawing with Tyler Ramsey and Carl ridding on horses in the old west. It's very cool and has a pretty good frame.

Yeah, I got that one too. I like it a lot. I haven't decided if I will frame it or not or hang it in the house or not though. We only have a few show posters hanging up on the walls in the house because our house is pretty small. I have started putting quite a few up in the basement lately though. We painted all the walls white to make it seem lighter down there, so I've been framing the lighter colored ones in white frames to keep it all the same (my wife is more ok with this plan). Most of the ones I've framed and put up are the more cartoon or illustrated kinds with light colors. The only ones up in the main part of the house are the Americanarama limited edition one from the 2013 Nashville show I took my brother to with a drawing of Bob Dylan as a farmer in a field with a tractor in the background.
