I have listened to The Tennessee Fire a lot recently and have concluded that this is their best release. it's simply haunting... [smiley=shocked.gif]
word.
My favorite MMJalbum.
heartbreakin man, they ran, the bear, by my car, i will be there when you die and nachville to kentucky!!!!!!!!!!!! I´d like to hear the album with a better production. That´d be interesting.

I suggested that once and some people thought it was blasphemous.

Me, too. But not so much for better production but because those songs have evolved so much since they were originally recorded. War Begun and Picture of You in particular are about half complete in the TF album.
This is a great album though, especially for a debut. It's difficult to say which album is the best, so I won't.

Paradise Theatre IS the best STYX album ever
:-?
Sorry, wrong forum.
Tracy, you're so controversial... it's great!
TTF is by far the least best album by MMJ.
i can't understand why so many people like it. i don't mind simple, poor, sloppy production, but the production on this album bothers me.

Got to go with Pieces of Eight
I can see putting TTF number one sometimes, although At Dawn remains at one far more frequently in my heart. Some say they can't see how TTF is high, I can't see how people place Z as number one. I know it all falls into personal opinion, and putting Z up against most other band's records is a no brainer for me, but when I am only in the mood for some Jacket-- I typically only play "Lay Low," 'Anytime," "Dondate," and 'off the record" from Z. But I can play TTF all the way through every time I put it on.

No freakin' way...
The Grand Illusion is the only essential Styx album. If you don't play "Come Sail Away", it's their most complete record, IMHO.

I just wanted to see how many quote windows I could get on one post. It's like an Atari space warp or something.
Come Sail Away still sucks. Like most Dennis DeYoung written songs.
Mr. Roboto, though...that's a horse of a different color. ;)

I've been thinking about it and I believe that ' Crystal Ball ' is their most definitve work.

I just moved my styx albums from the record crate in the living area into a box hidden away in a closet.

I had not thought about Styx at all for like, forever...but "Suite Madame Blue" from Equinox is one kick ass fuckin' song. I'm gonna have some weird ass acid flashback dreams tonight... ;)

Heck no! I may be embarrassed to own them, but I still like to rock out to "Mr. Roboto" once every 3-4 years. ;-)
Cool! I get to Atari time warp too!
I would have to go with Acoustic Citcouca. Or however it is spelled.
The Tennessee fire is also amazing.
If Romeo and Juliet = The Bible
Then
West Side Story = "The Tn Fire"
And
"At Dawn" = West Side Story
Final Answer!
nuh-uhhhhhhhh :D

I like this theory. :D
I look upon TTF as the Old Testament,

QuoteI look upon TTF as the Old Testament,

Yeah, nobody really pays much attention to that part of the Bible anymore...
Nobody can enter the kingdom of Jacket except through "At Dawn" anyways. (Z may be an exception?)
i kind of see At Dawn as the whole "in the beginning" with all this awesomeness being brought forth out of nothing. and then TTF ends with "I Think I'm Going To Hell" which Jim described as pretty much the apocolypse, which would make it Revelation. I would propose ISM as the Gospel, seeing as that is the moment the entire catalog pivots on. No matter what anyone thinks of that album, it was absolutely necessary to get them from one place to the next.
And Z? I would consider Z to be maybe the Psalms? A testament to the strength of the Jacket?
Is this getting blasphemous yet?

AHA! The bowler hat makes a comeback! :) :)
I'm really hoping one of the live volumes is a full TTF show. I personally love the Capitol Theatre show...to have that on vinyl would be magical and would be my favorite mmj release.

That Capitol Theatre show was truly magical and one of my favorite concerts ever.

It is the complete version of TTF for me...with Weeks Go By Like Days in the mix which is one of my favorite MMJ songs.
Man... they really missed the chance to release each night of the Terminal 5 run alongside the 20 year anniversary rerelease of each album, didn't they?

I know I shouldn't complain because live volume 1 was cool, but I want a live TTF / At Dawn release.
It's so great to have the OBH4 recordings, but yeah, the 2019 TF show at the Cap is on a whole other level. Would love to get a soundboard recording of that. I want them to keep playing Tonite I Wanna Celebrate w/ You with that guitar solo at the end! One of my favorite Jim solos ever honestly.
The TTF anniversary show taping from 2019 is definitely one of my favourite ever slices of the band but I still can't really get into the album itself. I love what many of the songs have become live, I'd love studio recordings or a proper live album consisting of those!
To me, their greatest strength is on stage.

Agree. I mean, the studio album is like a barebones demo of what TTF ultimately became live. The Candles & Panties version of Nashville to Kentucky shows just how beautiful this would be if they made a studio album out of the new live versions of the album. Holy grail for me.
Nashville to Kentucky from the Capitol show is honestly one of my all time favourite Jacket recordings. I love the way the crowd goes from talking through the first part of the song to cheering throughout the rest. Must have been an absolutely magic atmosphere in the crowd that night. You guys are lucky to get shows like that. We're probably only ever going to get 'the hits' whenever they're in the UK

If I swim across the North Atlantic then walk the rest of the way I could probably afford a couple of nights at Red Rocks
