At the very least, we should have OBH 2017 audio in a couple months.  I'll take an additional show as well, most definitely!!

yeah that's totally true, and the OBH nights were epic! We ARE spoiled as Jacket fans, yes indeed, but there's been a bigger gap between Okonokos I and Okonokos II than I would've ever expected (no matter what it's called, if it's a Live LP / DVD and is extremely high quality, I'm probably going to call it Okonokos II) . I thought we'd get a second Okonokos after Evil Urges, then I was like OK well that makes sense, maybe after Circuital. Then, we get to The Waterfall tour and I'm like OK...NOW THIS TOUR HAS TO HAVE AN OKONOKOS FOR SURE....and now i'm hoping, along with the MMJ fans who want in on the action of Okonokos-esque greatness.

I hope someone heard something at OBHIII about a live album, because without that interview from Jimbo 7-8 months ago, we got nothin!

(fingers crossed)

I posted in shows about this earlier, but at OBH3 this year there was a substantial video crew around the entire time - both roving cameras and fixed/tripod as well. They were around for all 3 MMJ shows, and it was a larger crew than I ever remember seeing at OBH2. Seemed like serious overkill if it were just for Cloud 9 promo videos or something like that.

No idea if it means anything, and I posted hoping that someone else may have talked w/ them or heard rumors, but no luck. There were other rumors about this during the Beacon run (I remember someone posting a photo of a film permit), but I wasn't there and can't confirm.

AHHHHHHHHHH YES this is great news!!!! detective hats firmly on!

5.   COMPOUND FRACTURE
6.   MASTERPLAN
7.   EVELYN'S NOT REAL
8.   OUTTA MY SYSTEM
9.   I'M AMAZED
10. IN ITS INFANCY (THE WATERFALL)

20. ALUMINUM PARK
21. EASY MORNING REBEL   (w/ PHJB)
22. TROPICS (ERASE TRACES)
23. HOLDING ON TO BLACK METAL (w/ PHJB)
24. HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS     (w/ PHJB)
25. GRAB A BODY / HIT IT & QUIT IT (Funkadelic Cover)   (w/ PHJB)

THE TENN. FIRE= 7
CHOC & ICE EP  =1
SPLIT EP=           0
HEARTBREAKIN MAN EP= 1

* Ultragod Version = the greatest Phone Went West we've ever seen / heard (how could it beat RR2012????)

i think this is exactly what the band needs to get into the fans' hands. this would expand their fanbase, get newer fans acquainted or caught up with the last three albums, while getting them into the deeper cuts and gems that they hadn't heard or had neglected until they heard a crystal clear, sonically brilliant version of it (ala what Okonokos I did to people's awareness of the band's brilliance).

with a discography as big as they have, they cannot afford to have another Okonokos where they do Wordless, OBH, Lowdown, Mahgeeta, Golden etc again and get away with it, or hope to grow their fanbase.

It's the deep cuts, damnit!!

Cheers

There's a 0% chance that they release an official live album with no repeats from Okonokos.

Lonndown27

how do you know? hahaha I think if they did that it'd make more sense. But, after all, I guess they'll probably show off the Steam Engine with sax version (that I really don't care for, the sax ruins it for me, it belongs in Dondante and First Light, but not Steam).....I mean do they really need to put another Wordless Chorus on Okonokos II or whatever it'll be called ?? Especially over something like War Begun? Or Cobra? It'd be a straight up travesty, in my opinion. Also, it'd show Evil Urges and Circuital's songs in a whole new light, because we all know those albums are better on stage. You're pragmatically right, though...sadly.

we now have yet another official notice: 2018 = new live record / maybe something DVD wise i hope too but either way, Jimbo says "ITS IN THE CAN".....this thing is in the post production phase, we're talking after mixing and on to mastering and the concept, packaging etc.  i wonder what fucking songs were picked...its gonna be nuts.

I feel like literally bowing to the guys for this three-fer: NYE, OBH4 then new live record...that shoild more than satisfy us fans for until 2019, as well as Tribute To and hopefully a Carl record

I have my hopes up REALLY HIGH right now but he does say these "could hopefully come out next year," so theres a definite chance thats another big interview tease for the live album/2nd waterfall album. but UGH I want it to be real!! This combining with the new weird gif/logo-y thing they put on instagram today gives me hope that this happens sooner rather than later

- the 2 or 3 disc official upcoming live album from the Beacon 2015 shows

- a two DVD set from Dec 29-31st in Denver, 2017, along with a bonus DVD showing them putting the shows together, interviews with fans and the band

- a single DVD consisting of the entire Bonnaroo 2008 performance with testimony from people who witnessed it as a bonus feature

- both nights at Red Rocks, 2016, in their entirety , one disc per show, with possible backstage footage showing Johnny Quaid and the band. A mini documentary, as a bonus feature, showing Johnny coming back into the band and his and the band's feelings on that, with a little bit of historical footage to show the journey from lead guitarist to ex-band member, to back in the band time to time as a guest, all while still being friends and family with the band, cordial and perfect. I dunno about you guys, but when those two shows went down and they had Johnny up onstage for some of those songs I cried my eyes out. You know how much it meant to him and to them....it was glorious. I get there's a few noticable issues with whether his guitar is actually buried in the mix, but we'll find that out if they ever release the real deal.

- another disc consisting of Bonnaroo 2006, the full performance!

this project would take a lot of time to get through, with license clearings for the covers, etc, BUT BUT BUT...maybe that'd explain why the band haven't released one in 12 fucking years (which is a century in the time of this band).

everything i just mentioned deserves that exact, pampered release!

and then two years later, when that boxset sells like hotcakes and becomes the biggest selling and greatest box set of all time, the band release yet another on vinyl and CD "LIVE AT TERMINAL 5: ALL 5 NIGHTS" with a bonus DVD featuring a documentary on the shows AND IF THERE'S FOOTAGE OF ALL 5 NIGHTS, INCLUDE IT!!!!

This live album has been in talks for ages it seems.  Now that Jim says it's done, what's the holdup on releasing it??  If they're waiting to release it to promote some live shows, that doesn't bode well, with the only live shows coming up being One Big Holiday, which was five rooms from a sellout as of yesterday.

What gives??
Cuz it's been so long since someone shattered me.

I'm guessing it will be announced after OBH.
Gotta stretch the limited activity across the entire year if there is no touring and potentially no new studio album.
Maybe live album out this spring and a new album announced late fall?
