I try to limit it to 10 when I do these things.  I think I'm confident saying that my favorite 10 albums from this year, in no order, were:

1)Sharon Van Etten - Remind Me Tomorrow
2)Hold Steady - Thrashing Thru the Passion
3)Frances Cone - Late Riser
4)Andrew Bird - My Finest Work Yet
5)Strand of Oaks - Eraserland
6)Felice Brothers - Undress
7)Purple Mountains
8)Nick Cave - Ghosteen
9)Craig Finn - I Need a New War
10)Jenny Lewis - On the Line

That was difficult.  There are a bunch of other albums that I really enjoyed this year.

Some of my favorites so far:

Black Keys--"Let's Rock"
The Who--"Old England New England"
Tool--"Fear Inoculum"
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

Sort-of ranked

1. Weyes Blood-Titanic Rising
2. Who Are You Now-Madison Cunningham
3. Sound & Fury-Sturgill Simpson
4. On the Line-Jenny Lewis
5. Old World Camels-Floating Action
6. For the Morning-Tyler Ramsey
7. Ode to Joy-Wilco
8. This Land-Gary Clark Jr.
9. Eraserland-Strand of Oaks
10. Ventura-Anderson .Paak

Excluded Carl just because it's covers but i listened to that a TON this year. Tough to narrow it down after the first 5/6, there are easily 4 or 5 more albums (Whitney, Better Oblivion Community Center, DJ Shadow, Lana Del Rey all had great shots at it) that could crack my top 10 on any given day. Heck of a year for music I'd say

Lol I feel like there's nothing on my list that's more obscure than say Garcia Peoples. Good record btw, they get nice and weird on that one. Check out the Badge Époque Ensemble album for more jazzy psych.

Aight gonna add some descriptions

Quote from: Osistheones on Nov 22, 2019, 02:37 PMProbably forgetting some, but baker's dozen in no order off the top:

Weyes Blood (Art pop, this really picked up a lot of steam this year)
Cate Le Bon (This and Mega Bog are also art pop, a bit weirder than Weyes Blood)
Mega Bog
Ian Noe (Get to know him if you don't already. Eastern Ky guy, folk/country/singer-songwriter)
Doug Tuttle (This guy churns out great psych pop/psych folk kinda stuff, riyl Harrison)
Possible Humans (Aussie guitar pop in the vein of Rolling Blackouts CF, a little less straightahead)
Collider (Band name is a Lilys reference I think, oddball noise pop/shoegaze)
Durand Jones (Old school soul, a real feel good vibe)
RF Shannon (Hushed psych folk/alt-country/slowcore)
Rose City Band (Produced by Ripley from Wooden Shjips/Moon Duo, but I'm pretty sure it's just him solo b/c they've been mum on who the actually band is. Psych country/Dead sorta sound)
Mick Trouble (80s sounding poppy post-punk a la Television Personalities)
Itasca (Folky lady stuff, riyl Joan Shelley)
Badge Époque Ensemble (Jazzy psych, mostly instrumental)
