Radiohead in Atlanta 2003. Amazing set in mid October. Not quite raining outside but rather cool mist.

Hey, I was at that show.  :)

Listening to Teenage Fanclub reminds me of a RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) school I worked at for a few months during my training.
It was a boarding school out in the middle of nowhere & I used to go for long walks in the surrounding countryside. The soundtrack was a teenage fanclub mix that a Scottish friend had made for me (he put an excellent picture of a drunk Rod Stewart on the cover!)
Everything Flows was my fav song & I used to run it back (these were Sony Walkman days!) & play it again & again.

The children at the school were truly inspiring! One of the teachers/carers must have taught them to say "That'll put a whole in it!" everytime they bumped into something because they all said it. But there was one boy who really meant it, he was as hard as nails, such a strong spirit! He used to make me laugh so hard. Most of the children were content to play by themselves but this boy would always ask me what the others were doing...
"What's Tim doing?"
"He's playing with the cars"
"Is he?! Hey Tim, I want to play with that car!"  ;D

The hardest part was helping them get ready for the weekend when their parents would come to pick them up. Some of the parents were always late or didn't seem to give a shit when their saw their child for the first time in 4 or 5 days. Going home for the weekend was optional, some of the children never got picked up at all.

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

That's awesome Andrew. Thanks to you and Mark, I'm a Fannie.

Cheers MJ  :)

Yeah I've been playing the heck out of the fannies recently, can't get enough of them. I don't have their last 3 albums (Howdy! Words Of Wisdom & Man Made) need to pick those up...

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Yeah, Is This Music? is such a beautiful song from bandwagonesque

I need to expand on Bandwagonesque.  Nick Hornby tells me Songs from Northern Britain is "the next best comfort food you can buy [second to Rubber Soul]".

Not sure how the exchange rate is for you but this is great value (Songs From & Grand Prix)

This might be a case of too much information, but in middle school I vividly remember my first hmmmm, "dream of non-typical dryness" being set to the completely clothed bathing suit girl getting paint thrown all over her from Duran Duran's video from "Rio". I can't hear that song and not snicker now...

The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

Good one, nice way to put it.

Burial - Untrue

This albums reminds me of being at the airport waiting for my flight to Hawaii last year on either the 22nd or 23rd of December. Christmas isn't so big in Japan & a lot of people work through it right up until the 27th, 28th or even 29th. The airport then becomes silly jam-packed with everyone flying off for a couple of days over New Year, a much bigger holiday.
So the airport is always strangely quiet when I fly a few days before Christmas but this time it was deserted...eerily so, like something out of a disaster movie. It was raining hard outside, which only added to the atmosphere.
I wandered out to the furthest gate without passing another soul, this album playing in my noise cancel headphones - which is usually perfect for shutting out the noise of airports, only this time there wasn't any.
I remember sitting down at the very end of the airport, looking back at all the empty gates & grinning from ear-to-ear!

20 days & I'm flying home!!!  :D
