I'm not familiar with most of his DBT material, but I looked at a setlist just now and they also played Outfit, Goddamn Lonely Love, Dress Blues, Never Gonna Change, and Danko/Manuel.
I forgot to mention earlier that they covered Talking Heads and did Psycho Killer (I think thats a common one in rotation?), and that was scary good too.

Oh and Hayes Carll wasn't the opener last night (although I woulda liked to see him!). It was Maria Taylor, and she had a really great mellow sound to her music. Lollar played guitar in her band, so it was cool to see him in two totally different settings. That dude can play some guitar...sheesh.

You're gonna have a blast next week  :D can't wait to hear you review!!

They packed the venue to the door, and were passing around a bottle of Jack Daniels the whole show

Nice!  That's gotta be a holdover from his DBT days...there's been a few times I've swigged from that handle of Jack   ;)

The new record is streaming on Spinner today if anyone hasn't heard it yet:

I had a management exam today, and the question had something to do with producing 400 units. This is where my mind went.
I NEEDED IT MOST WHENEVER tbh

Love the new album I have five stared the first three songs on first listen already. :)

This album is really good. I think it will be one of my favorites of the year - i like every song.
it's Way better than the new DBT too.
Alabama Pines is great.. so is tour of duty.  I just love his style and voice and the different styles of music on it.  Cheers to Jason!

I like the album a lot however imo it cannot hold a candle to Go Go Boots by DBTs.  That album is in a whole different league.

Love Go Go Boots and Here We rest.  They've both gone in their own directions and I stopped comparing them awhile ago.  Truckers are still a better live show.

i agree...and i am just a big dbt fan as i am of isbell...its just i always find about 3 or 4 songs i absolutely don't like on the dbts albums...usually shonna's songs...no offense but when she tells dancin ricky don't let your diabetes get you i just crack up every time.

No offense to Drive-By Truckers, but with the spilt, I pick Isbell everytime.  Don't get me wrong, I love Patterson and Cooley, but all the good songs are Jason Isbell's...and by God he plays 'em at his shows.

Yeah it's kind of like Lennon leaving the Beatles. And the beatles carrying on.
Still good but......

Go It Alone is such a great song.  Great to sing along to loud while driving! The rest of the record is pretty great too.
At my house, we call them uh-ohs.

Just bought the new album last week. It sounds amazing so far.
How loud can silence get?

i might be hitting the NYC, DC and Roanoke shows, so just be prepared to get a few 'come to the 9:30 Club to see McMurtry!' text requests.
