It looks like they're on their way back to Louisville in a few weeks (September 25, 2013) as part of WFPK's Waterfront Wednesday.

"All set times are approximate. Gates open at 5 p.m. More info is available for directions and everything else you need to enjoy WFPK Waterfront Wednesday.

J. Roddy Walston and the Business (approx. 9 p.m.)

WFPK Waterfront Wednesday is presented by 91.9 WFPK and Waterfront Development Corporation with support from Friends of the Waterfront and is FREE to all."

Do they broadcast these shows, by any chance?

I called them today during my lunch break, and they said they don't record or broadcast Waterfront Wednesdays at this point in time.
Thanks for checkin', Mr. White!

I don't know where my "disconnect" was with posting this, but I've had it downloaded from YouTube for some time now!

Here is the entire show in 2 parts from FunkItBlog. It sounds pretty good!

Glad you finally get to see them he.who.  I feel spoiled living on their home turf.

And, BH, what a great video.
Make sure your listen to the end when J Roddy finally kicks in.

Hey, GO4IT!
I'm going to see them at Headliners in Louisville, on March 20th, mainly on your recommendation from when we met at Jim's solo show at the Brown Theatre last April. I am waiting to buy their albums until the show. I'll probably get the albums on vinyl if they bring them. If not, I'll buy the CD's. In the meantime, I've been checking out their stuff on their Interweb site and on YouTube. While on YouTube, I found this video from the Artie Lange Show - pretty good little interview.
Thanks again!

Glad to hear you're going to be able to see them soon, Mr. White!

I just checked their tour schedule and was surprised to see that they are doing a "Lagunitas Couch Trippin' to Austin" show in DC this Tues and it's free!  Looks like it's sold out and I'll be on my way to Mammoth that day anyway.  Add me to the "bummed list" along with jYac.

And if you want to check out some more videos I took one at the 9:30 club a few months back and there are a few from a show at the Strand Theater in York, PA that we traveled up to with a few of the Forum Faithful (you'll see them on the rail in at least one of the vids) last June before they released their latest album.

They cover AC/DC's Highway To Hell at Lebowski Fest in Louisville in 2011. Check out Kevin Ratterman in the red body-suit!

Sweet!
I'm liking the expanded definition of "folk" at the NFF in recent years.

Mr. White

I got to see them last night at Headliners! The show was really good. I'll post some more about it later this weekend.

Sweeeeeeet video! I knew I could count on you for a prompt post-show post! I was looking up shots from this show all night on Instagram, looks like they killed it!

Sadly, still waiting for my J Roddy cherry to be popped. Prepared to pay $40 for what will likely be a half-hour set at most. But considering how desperate I am to see them, and how hard these guys rock, that seems like a bargain.

Mr. White

Thanks, oistheone! I was surprised at how decent the sound turned out on most of the songs I recorded. I was leaning over the balcony rail with my camera about waist level hanging out over the rail. The highest speakers in the place seemed to be aimed just a bit under where the balcony was positioned. That's probably why the louder songs aren't so overdriven like most of my attempts.

Here is Brave Man's Death.

I've got a few more and will post them later.
And yeah, it was a really rockin' show.

Hey oistheone, Your $40 price is kind of high for what you said will probably be a very short set, but I'm sure you will enjoy it. The Headliners show was only $15, but it lasted about 90 minutes. The opening act (Discount Guns) played about 50 minutes. They are from Louisville and did a really good job.

Here is the last part of the encore that included Used To Did.

I was on the fence about going to this triple-header show with CTE and Foals, mainly because tickets were $45, and J Roddy will probably only have a half-hour set. But I guess tickets for the show in my area weren't exactly sellin' too well, so scalpers on StubHub dropped their offerings well below face value! Which means of COURSE I snapped 'em up! Woooo! Only about six more weeks until I finally see these guys!

for anyone on the Virginia area. J Roddy is playing Brown's Island in Richmond for one of their Friday After 5 shows on 5/30.

tickets shouldn't be more than $20 (yea, they are $5)

...and the Futurebirds play the next Friday for $5

Capt Scotty and I were thinking of coming up from VB.  Futurebirds is the next Friday but I might just stay local for the free Head and the Heart show in Norfolk

Used to did closer last night was

Fucking awesome band.   Billy is finally playing without turning around and I LOVE watching him play guitar.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Just caught wind of J Roddy playing at the Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, MD on Sat., Aug. 23rd.  It's not on the band's web site yet.  We saw Deer Tick there last summer and it was a lot of fun and the beer, of course, did not disappoint.

I haven't checked out this thread in a while.  Great videos from Louisville, Mr. White!!!  Looks like you got quite a show.

Has anyone seen a show on this joint tour with Foals and Cage the Elephant? I'm wondering about set lengths. It'll be my first J Roddy experience, and I'm REALLY looking forward to it. Hoping for at least half an hour, but I know that may be unlikely, unfortunately. But hell, I'm pumped either way!
