Been streaming the new Mastodon on I-tunes and while its not really a heavy album at all, its IMO definately better than the Hunter and a rocker none the less.  Still some major riffs and probably better lyrics than most of their work, but was hoping for a little more heaviness, but I'll say it has been growing on me with every listen.

Yes, Unlocking the Truth are awesome, and not just because they are all like 12. 

I've seen them twice: at Fun Fun Fun Fest last fall and at Coachella this year.

Saw them the other night opening for QOTSA.  Dug them a lot.  Have great potential.

A friend mentioned this band the other day, not really heavy metal, more liek hard rock.

I'm really digging the new Mutoid Man album.  I'd be surprised if it didn't end up in my top ten at the end of the year.  If you don't know, it's Stephen Brodsky from Cave In, Ben Koller from Converge, and Nick the sound guy from Saint Vitus in Brooklyn. 

I'm also really enjoying the new Vattnet Viskar.  What are some other great metal albums that have come out this year?
