Come Closer

Album isn't coming out in June?

oistheone

I had heard the album was out the first week in June too! But I haven't heard or seen an official announcement, so it wouldn't shock me to see that pushed back.

That's awesome about the French Broad River Fest set though! That looked like one serene place to catch some FA vibes!

Big news from Black Mountain!  It seems the record will drop on August 26th.  Floating Action signed with New West Records, so it definitely will reach a broader audience!

I haven't been this excited for a new release since I don't know when.
Linked 'cause there are pictures.

Also, an August 9th appearance in the God Save the Queen City Festival in Charlotte.  I haven't heard of a lot of these bands, so that probably means it will be stellar.

Nice find, thanks for posting! This is one of my most anticipated records of the summer -- and that is some hilarious album artwork. For selfish reasons, I just wish they'd go on a bit more of an ambitious tour! Hard to find the time to get down to GA or NC, as much as I'd love to. This festival on the 9th looks verrrry tempting though. Not only Floating Action, but JEFF The Brotherhood AND Benji Hughes, who is pretty high on my musical bucket list.

Can't wait to see these guys again.

Got a copy of this yesterday!!  It is limited to 200 copies, and pressed on clear vinyl.  It states "Audio Mastered for Vinyl" on the plastic cover sleeve.  Download included.  I tried to post a picture of it, but it did not work.

You can stream all three tracks below.  A instrumental of Fleet Foxes Helplessness Blues!

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I received an email today about Unrevenged being out and only available at local record stores, so I went by Lunchbox (Charlotte) today and sure enough they had it.  They actually had about 5 or 6 of them and the email said 200 total.  Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but it looks nice and is good quality.

Actually, in the email I received, if you click on the Body Questions album picture it directs you to a soundcloud website where you can listen to the whole album, 12 tracks total.  Sounds good.

Ohh shit man, nice find!! Gotta rip this ASAP!

Well I wasted no time in jumping off the deep end right into the rather clean waters of Body Questions. Compared to past FA releases, which have always had a bit of a muddy fog aesthetic, this one actually sounds pretty pristine in parts. But of course there's still plenty of that lo-fi Floating Action charm.

From a songwriting standpoint, I always find it amazing that Seth can just start a song banging out two chords and before you know it, layers upon layers are built upon it and it's a legit groove. "Hide Away For Too Long" is a great example, and a fantastic song.

So far my favorite might be "House of Secrets". That coda either contains the best Floating Action guitar solo since the first album or the best harmonica solo since "Sunlight". Either way, it kicks ass. Also love "Taking Me A Little While" and "No Surprise There".

I musically adore pretty much everything Seth touches, so it's no surprise that I love this album, but it's a pretty awesome surprise that I got to listen to it a month early. Thanks again for the hot tip spence!

Anyone have a link to that Sound cloud of the new album?  I'd love to hear it!  I receive email from them and bought the new single but I didn't find an email that gives the Sound cloud link.  Thanks in advance!
We could.

Come Closer

Ran through the album a couple of times. I don't think it's as strong as Fake Blood, but it's still very good.

I am holding off listening to it until I receive it on vinyl.  No reason why, just weird I guess.  However, I have more good news from Black Mountain!!  Research is finally available on vinyl! Plus, if you choose the correct amount of change, you can win a test pressing!!  Details here, because I did not explain it well.

Well, headed up to Asheville Saturday night @ The Grey Eagle for the official album release party.  Needless to say, was not disappointed!  Picked up a few goodies, along w/ the vinyl of Body Questions.  Spun it Sunday night, and it REALLY sounds good!  Very quiet, flat piece of vinyl.  The album is very dynamic sounding, if that makes any sense.  Some of the songs immediately jumped out at me (Taking Me A Little While, Unrevenged, No Surprise There, Long Dark Shadow), some will no doubt grow on me, as they always seem to do.  The show was a VERY nice mix of oldies/new songs, and a closure of "Digging," before the four or five song encore.  Sometimes I do feel like Digging.  Pick this up!  Fans of Floating Action will not be disappointed, and if you're not a current fan, I hope you will be with this record.  Seth is obviously getting a lot of attention w/ New West, and I think they'll serve him well.  What an absolute talent.

Floating Action is offering a free download of its 12/26/15 show, or you can send a little $ their way (name your price).

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

This live album is way cool. Seth is taking older tunes like "Well Hidden" and "Robespierre" and completely changing the arrangements, a la Dylan. I dig! Highlight for me might be "Unrevenged" -- goddamn that is some dreamy, serene and positively liquid guitarwork.

I've always felt Floating Action takes off to a new level of groove when Libramento is holding down the bottom end, and this recording proves the point. The groove in "Fang & Furr" is so strong and deep, it could double as a bomb shelter in the event of an apocalypse. Just wish they'd take this unit on the road. Seems like the only way to see FA in their top form is to head to Asheville. One day!

Awesome!    Best $7 spent in awhile.
