Absolutely postively losing Shannon was a much bigger deal to me than Kurt.  Heartbreaking.  Quite frankly, I've never been as affected by the loss of one of my musical heroes as I was absolutely devastated by Shannon's death.

RIP.

It is interesting to think about what loss of a musician has affected you the deepest.  For me, it was definitely Jeff Buckley, I literally cried when I heard he had died.  I think that is the only time the loss of a musician has actually made me cry.

I don't know Blind Melon beyond the big song, but you are inspiring me to check the album out.  You guys are also inspiring me to get more educated on The Verve.  I have Urban Hymns and love it, but I need to check out the other two early records.

My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

buaawwww

For me losing Blind Melon was huge.  I was such a fan, and I think this band really could have gone on to be something big.  To me they were in the same vein as an MMJ and I could easily see Jimmy James and Shannon collaborating somehow.  I've always loved the first record there's not a thing wrong with it, but when I first listened to Soup in its entirety I was completely bowled over.  It's just perfection.  You go ahead and listen to "The Duke" and "Mouthful of Cavities" and "St. Andrew's Hall" and tell me that's not some of the best music you have ever heard.  What this band could have been... ugh.

As much as it pains me to admidt these are perfect albums because I've grown to detest the band heavily since about 1993 but...

War
The Joshua Tree
Achtung Baby
