It was great to have this download available about this time last year, just in time for Christmas! We kept my 8 year old grandson over the weekend, and I played the iTunes Sessions EP for him on the way to school this morning. It made me think it was as good of a time as any to start wishing everyone on the Forum a hopeful and renewing holiday season!

Happy happies to you and yours!
Babe, let's get one thing clear, there's much more stardust when you're near.

My Morning Jacket - When the Bells Start Ringing (feat The Head and The Heart)

In my dang head all year... (and esp. so now....)  Sleighs me. (pun entirely intended, sry)

It now always reminds me of so many warm fuzzy things, like the sweetness ImTheDude and his wife had to send me the album, and the feeling when I was at work Christmas Eve last year and decided upon hearing my grandma's voicemail saying she misses me for Christmas... to drive 7 hours home straight from work in the night and surprise everyone for Christmas morning  :lipsrsealed:  Listened to it half the way home, at least!!!

But the part that gets me most is the "Blue Ridge Mountain home"..... I'm 2 years into my Blue Ridge Mountain home, and the timing was just so perfect

Hope everyone has wonderful holidays overflowing with warm fuzzy memories!!!   Thanks for sharing these, Mr. White!

Thank you for posting those, Mr. White.  They totally made me cry, and miss my dad, but in a good way...in a way that I had forgotten to remember, but never want to forget.

Home is like that...no matter how far away you are, it's always right there with you...reminding you of what true love is.

Happy Christmas and Hanukkah to everyone. I hope your holidays are filled with the gifts of love, peace and happiness.

And for the record, this band needs to stop making me cry so much. It's pretty embarrassing to have people walking in the room while you have headphones on, and witness you weeping like a tiny schoolgirl.

Yes. I know what you mean. As I get older, fewer and fewer of the ones that mean the most to us are with us anymore. It really makes you feel. When I first got the iTunes Session EP last year, I transfered it to a CD and added on most of the songs from the set Jim did on WFPK 91.9 FM on 2001-12-25 (from Internet Archives). It flows together well.

Wow, thank you so much!!! You're like the Forum's version of Clarence from "It's A Wonderful Life"!!!

I hated Christmas music for a while...mostly because I worked in places that would play THE WORST Christmas music on repeat.  (aka George Michael "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart).  But I think in reality, I might have just been kinda Grinch-y about it.  Thank you so much for giving me a reason to genuinely like it again!

I did the same thing last year!  Mixing those two recordings, from a decade apart, to your liking makes the best X-Mas album ever!

Mr. White

Thanks for fixing the link to the Internet Archives page with Jim at WFPK, John! I still have a bit of a difficult time figuring out all the tricks to posting stuff.

Here is another from My Morning Jacket Does Christmas Fiasco Style.

Nice!   I was just thinking how I needed to dig all three of these beautiful works out real soon.   Thanks!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Jackets N Pones

Please Come Home for Christmas is my favorite one off of that iTunes session. Could not find the youtube link though. So good!
Here it is, in its entirety, our cover of ELO's Telephone Wire

I'm about 11 days late for this one, but I just found it today. I think it was SaraBananaBear who originally posted the link to the whole podcast, but I couldn't find it. Anyway, I don't think this has been posted anywhere yet.

It might just give us a preview of what parts of his new solo shows could sound like...might.

I may be a littttttle biased here, but I really don't think any band does Christmas music better.

MMJ makes every Christmas cover they play sound better, and "Xmas Time Is Here" is the best original Christmas song written since before Phil Spector went nuts. Really don't understand why that song isn't more widely accepted as a Christmas standard. For the lack of a better term, it's the most fucking beautiful Christmas song I've ever heard. Not a tinge of commercialism or phony sentimentalism, it's just perfect.

I'd like to raise a holiday toast to My Morning Jacket, for allowing me to play a shitload of my favorite band on every holiday mix I've ever created. Hear, hear!

I know my favorite is Christmas must be tonight from the ITunes album. I know it's a The Band original, but so what, the MMJ version is the best Christmas song there is.
