Hey I always play this with an A in the verse progression so its C#7 F# A B - below is how i would go through the verses.  May be wrong may be right but its a different way to play.  The rest of the tab is pretty accurate - I play the solo different, but i know that my way isn't 100% right so what can be done.  Enjoy

can someone please define C#7 and F#? I can't seem to figure out the exact fingering ..

tomEisenbraun

C#7 - x46464

F# - 244322

the way this works, looks at the strings like this:

EADGBe

except with a fret number where each one of those strings falls. and there you have it.

(a C chord is x32010...does it make sense? also, an x is a string not played)
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

tomEisenbraun

and try this:

Capo IV
(all chord positions and shapes relative to capo
i.e. A7 is really C#7, but is an A7 chord in relation to the capo)

A7 - x02020
D9maj7 - xx0220
Fmaj7' - 133200
G6 - 355400

then for that bridge bit (i'd roll on but i know you'd need me some day)

F#m -  244222
C#m - 466544
D - xx0232
A - x02220

repeating the D and A for a couple bars as he's saying "someday"...
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

I'm pretty certain Jim doesn't use a capo when performing War Begun

This song and many others are located at the official unofficial My Morning Jacket guitar tabs and chords site:

One other thing:

I think he puts a finger on the b string on the 4th fret when doing the upstroke on the F# and the A... if you try that it sounds just like how he does it, but only on that upstroke, and only those 2 chords.

Love this song. Thanks

Okay to my ears and eyes, these are all close but not correct.  This is what I'm hearing and seeing (watching live vids)

The F#7->Fmaj6 and the A(b5)->A are grace notes basically, that follow the vocal lines.  For example, for the first chord change, you'd fret

XX434X  (F#maj6 w/o the root, which the bass is playing) and hammer on the 7th, XX436X (F#7)
