I was there with my oldest daughter, and it was Father's Day. A great weekend and two amazing shows!

did these shows convert your daughter, Johnny? I hope after seeing those two setlists she's a huge fan! Wow, reminds me of my Dad, making sure I saw the Stones, The Who, Eric Clapton playing the Layla album with Derek Trucks etc.

MMJ brings the family togethhhha

next time MMJ come to SLC (doubt I could get my Dad to go to Red Rocks, as cool as that'd be, who knows maybe?) I'm going to force a ticket upon my Dad and just be like TRUST ME.....You'll NEVER be the same after this   :cheesy: :drum:

She knew MMJ pretty well going in.  She was 13 at the time, had seen MMJ at Newport Folk Festival in 2012.  That was great because of the collaboration with Brittany Howard, which came about thanks to Katherine's first concert earlier that year... I believe I've posted the story before.

I hope to have this in hand tomorrow, the perks of having once worked at a record store that has survived.  The owner called today, holding two copies for me.

I've been hesitant to share this story, but its too good to keep to myself.

I took my daughter to her first concert, Alabama Shakes, in April.  Afterward, we met Brittany Howard out back... photo, autograph, and a nice chat about how awesome MMJ is.  We also discussed that the Shakes and Jacket would be at Newport on the same day.

Brittany and my daughter, Katherine.

It got me thinking, so I emailed management that I thought a collaboration with Jim and Brittany at Newport would be perfect.  I got a reply that my email had been forwarded to Jim.  Later, they told me Jim had reached out to Brittany while they were on tour with Jack White.  Finally, an email a few weeks before Newport came in... "We're trying to make your Newport dreams come true."

I was there, in Newport, when Brittany came on stage to join MMJ for It Makes No Difference.  I was blown away, brought to tears.  Having it released on vinyl is such delicious icing!  This release is really special to me.

Awe :) Johnny....man, you are a Sultan!!!! Seriously, I absolutely HAVE to hang out with you at a show and get some grub and such. You seem like the coolest person in the world!!! The fact that you set that up hahah, I vaguely remember this story but now I'll never forget it. You set that up???? Good god! hahahah that is so sick!!! one of my favorite Jacket collabs and I'm not even a Shakes fan. I just love Brittany, love how she struts her stuff.
