Avatars

How does one post an avatar or animated gif for their profile on this site if they only have the avatar, but do not have it posted to a website and have no site to post it too?
Does that make any sense?
Essentially, I have a cool gif I want to use, but it's not posted anywhere on the web and I don't know how or where to do that.
Can someone help me please?

yeah, i dont have a website or anything like that, but google the words 'free image hosting'.  there are loads of free sites where you can upload a pic totally free, and it will spit out a URL for you.  ta-da!
