I bet the album release was already set and they landed SNL after the fact. SNL is a pretty big deal, but who knows when they got word they were playing it. It would be good timing to have that record out right after SNL because everyone is going to be running out to the record store the next day only to find out they have to wait another month, and by then they might forget about the band. Unfortunate timing, but no press is bad press.

I think they should definitely play "Evil Urges", to me that song sums up the changes the band is making and the new sound. Not to mention it's the first track on the album and the title track. I say definitely play 2 new ones, I don't wanna see a performance of a song I've already saw 15 times. I think I would shoot my TV if they played "One Big Holiday", or something off of Z. Don't get me wrong, I love those songs and albums, but c'mon, I wanna see the new shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bluntmaster

there is no way they're going to be playing anything old.  hype is good if they can rock the fucking house to the floor.  just my opinion on that part of it.

remnants
smokin from shootin

who knows, I could see

evil urges
I'm amazed

being played too.  who knows this should be interesting to see how they approach it.

The DARK

They could play just about anything off the new album. Really.

Don't forget to watch (or record) Thursday Must See TV for SNL commercials!   You should be watching 30 Rock anyway.  Two weeks in a row now they have been laugh out loud classics!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

pingybrown

does anyone think there will be a secret NYC show? I had the privilege of receiving tickets to SNL.

I'm now guestimating:

Highly Suspicious
I'm Amazed

Dillsnufus

the commercials are gonna be wierd.

The DARK

I'm Amazed is the single, I think it will definitely be played. The others are up in the air, frontrunners Evil Urges and Highly Suspicious.

Here comes me again with an unpopular opinion.

Let me re-hash the fact that this is all a fabulous marketing plan set in motion by ATO.  I know everyone on this board wants to believe that the leak was unvoluntary and unplanned, but the way it's all playing out is a text book example of hype and hyperboly.  We, as MMJ fanATICS, are only pawns in this scheme because we're already hooked.  We ALREADY love this band and would walk the plank if Jim said to(well, not all of us but the majority).  This major marketing plan is directed at the fringe fans of rock-n-roll.  those folks who love good music but don't always know good music.
I know i'll be lambasted by many of you because you've already drank the cool-aid, but you who bitch about my views are naive if you think a BIG-BAD RECORD COMPANY hasn't taken these black market tactics into account when strategizing about the best ways to market music in these uncertain times in this industry.

Look, at least i didn't make the letters big and green.  Apparently , that's construed as yelling and I ain't yeller.
O, How time flies, with crystal clear eyes.  But it's cold, it's cold, when you're ending with diamond eyes.

Alright, well, since I'm Amazed is "the single" on iTunes it's safe to say they'll play that

If it's an old song, I'd assume OBH or Gideon. Off the Record would be a treat.

I think they will play only songs from the new album. In prior network appearances the promotional opportunity was not squandered on old material or cover tunes and I don't see this as any different.

So I think we'll see I'm Amazed and Evil Urges cut down to four minutes by ending it with the jam that occurs from 3:05 to 4:00 minute marks on the recorded version (listen to it and notice how that song could come to a natural conclusion right on the sustain that fades out from the 3:55 to 4:00 minute mark).  The whole song only lasts just barely over five minutes and maybe SNL will need to fill out and let them play the entire song.

I'd put money on those two songs being played. If I was a gamblin' man.  I think I'd prefer those as well.

If they don't play Evil Urges, I think "Two Halves" will likely be the second song as it is the most accessible (sounds like a Roy Obison b-side to me) or Aluminum Park just to keep the studio rocking but it's not as good as their earlier stadium rockers.

Lastly, they have yet to play a quiet song like "Sec Walkin" in these type slots, so I doubt we'll hear that one. But one can hope!

I will bet you a salami sandwich that they do Highly Suspicious instead of Evil Urges.

Make it Italian Sausage versus a Salami Sandwich and you're on. I don't care as much for salami.  You got me hankerin for some State Fair food just as I'm leaving for lunch.

There is a little Italian grocery by my office that serves food for lunch.  It is the greatest place for food in the entire world.  Seriously.  They make a Salsiccia Sandwich that is spectacular.  It's smothered in Red Sauce, Onions, Peppers and Provel Cheese on French Bread.   Will that do?

I agree with ya somewhat, maybe not done in an "evil give me your money way" but definitely in the exposure area of it.  there has been a ridiculous amount of hype going down since right before it leaked.  I think it's possible you could be on to something.
